im really new to all this stuff and I was wondering if its possible for me just to buy the denon 1200 by itself or would I have to buy the 120 mixer to?
I found information that the DENON dn-x120 ‘fader start’ and ‘crossfader start’ switches are only used with Denon’s CD players or it can be used with any usual turntable as well?
i need help, im using these players and mixer with serato. whats happening is, i have a song at 100 bpm, and another at 91, for some reason the tempo slider on my players are only going +8% with these players, is there anyway to go beyond that? like +25%?
please someone answer, my denon dns1200 has 110v written on the back.. ive used it with 240v before and nothing happened but it was just a couple of min.. so should i keep on using it with 240v or what?! please answer.
@Friizky is there no switch to change to 240v, using a 110v model on 240v is no good idea because the ac-dc transformers are made for 110v and will overheat and will break if you put 240v on it. You better exchange it where you bought it for a 240 model
@megadj2000 dont worry dude... im good now... used it in a gig last friday.. got another one on thursday.. in my country the weekend it friday and saturday.. so yeah :D im having so much fun in gigs now.. i almost aw it all to ellaskins.. been watching him since 2006 :)
hello good video. please mention that the dns1200 cd player dose not play cd-r recorded discs.we had ordered 2 and foune that they dont play cd-r discs. gutted---
@harriboman11 Yes is fast, smooth, but not very good and you can't rem-place it with a innofader, I have this mixer and is great, in sound much better than a DJM350/400 the only problem is the crossfader so for scratch better avoid it, for normal mixing is very good especial for the price
excellent vid. Not going to say much for the CD player, but I have been considering the mixer, but was uncertain. This vid sold me. Getting the mixer on my next pay. Thank you.
@dhstandard22 im a beginner dj and i just think that for the price, denon is quality ass equipment, so save money and get the best u can get for the price
dns-1200 (x2)/dnx-120/MBPro / SL3 / dnhc-1000 (denon serato controller) and it works great. The 400s, Yeah they are Pioneers, and look slicker than the denons, and work midi with SL (you still need the box!) but, once you hook to SL, you lose all the features, which are the same for both anyway. The big difference is PRICE..If you can afford the Pioneers, go for it, otherwise the denons provide the exact same functions for 1/2 the price.PractiseNnjoy!
I'm pretty new here and I have two new Denon DN-S1200 with DN-X120 mixer to my Mac Pro with Scratch Live 1.9.2. Can someone give me some advice on how to get the Mini working with my decks.
@JuniorFlexx2010 if you mean MIDI ... and if you are using SL1 you'll need the interface. I had these hooked up to SL1 before getting the Denon 3700s, thats hooked up to the Serato Live now.
i just bought rane's SL3 and im using DN-X120 but i cant seem to record my mixes when i plug in the rca's into the aux input into the unbalanced inputs. anyone else having this problem? :|
i got a denon x-120 mixer and im using serato sl3 and i dont know how to connect it to my serato soundcard i know how to connect the turntables but not to connect from the soundcard to the mixer and help?
on the denon dn-s1200 can u actually control the bpm for example if the bpm is 128 can you change it to 130 plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz answer realyyy important ,thanks!! oh and are the denon dn-s1200 and the dn-x120 mixer good, i mean would you recommend them for me i have never had a mixer or turntable before so i don't have experience but i am really good on virtual dj and traktor so yeah thanks and again plzzz answer back asap
i want to know about the mixer . how do the fades feel on hand, r they okay , or do they have
cheap feeling for scratching ect. to control
im seaching for a good 2 chanel mixer . :( this seems purfect but it sould have a master level signal and faders sensitivity like Denon DN X100 has .. :(
Hi You are great. You know everything ha.And you have a lot of player and mixer you are really great and im your one of your fan? can you give me one of your set of your mixer and player or a mixer instead. If it is ok for you. Thanks im always enjoying and learning on your youtube videos about mixer and player about music...And good luck for a more years...!!!
I don't think he gets payed but I do presume Pioneer and Denon send him stuff to 'review'. If denon send him this setup and he uses it in his vid, that's a massive audience and a lot of advertising.
The price of this piece of kit that they lose by sending it to him is far less then what they would pay for the advertising in, lets say, a magazine.
He deserves every single pieces of kit he gets, that's for sure.
also for those people who own a set of s1200 you must update to the latest firmware after you take it out of the box or you will notice that your decks are responding funny. dont worry they are not broken.
what happened to me is that it was reading a CD and suddenly stopped, after reading the forums they said that i should update the firmware (something very easy to do) and never got those problems again.
they recommend that its not good to attemp to change the platters, they are very good for scratching because they are very sensitive to the pressure, some people can do it but i guess they know very well what they are doing, i wouldn't attemp to do it though.
hi, I was in the same situation as you and after some advice I got the dn s1200 and I don't regret it at all :) keep the software updated though (the instructions are in the manual).
when comparing this denon vs. pioneer, most of the people would go for pioneer but this ones are a very cood investment too.
the use of USB stuff is awesome too, the only thing I don't like is that it's not good to change the platters because they are very sensitive and if you do it you put it into risk.
i dont recommend you use virtual dj... but if you cant afford to purchase a real kit thats the next best thing... its just like real turntables just on your cpu and you have to use your mouse to do what you would do with your hands... unless you use things like the 1200 that can control it. it can read mp3 cds or mp3s on a flash drive but you can just use flash drives instead of having all of those cd cases and what not.... i recommend buying a couple of usb hard drives instead of flash drive
the dn-s1000 is almost the same... same size, the lcd display is to the left on the 1000's .... it has pretty much the samefeatures... the 1200's are midi contollers though so you canuse them on vst's and things like virtual dj if you like computer mixes. you can also plug in a keyboard into the 1200to use as a quick search for your music... my advice is to spend the extra $100 and get the 1200 :D
I have this system on its way..honestly I would of rather picked up the 3500 or 5500 I love the direct drive!!!but Im not a rich person lol. I love the prices of denon vs pioneer. but in your opinon what do you think about these 1200s? vs same caliber of a pioneer player???
oke.. i'm beginner.. i just want to buy some stuff to put my fingers, it's time to test my abilities, but DAMN.. when i try to buy (i'm from Romania) the price is double, like: in USA 2x DN-S1200 & 1x DN-X120 is ~ 1000 usd, in Europe is 1100 euro (VAT included) !!! WTFK? ...is not fair, too expensive :((
could you do a dns1200 vs cdj400 video? i think thats the big question on everyone's lips! if your already in the process of making one, ignore this post!
Im about to buy some cd deck and a mixer and want to know should i get the exact setup you have there or save up some more and get 400's. im used to mixing in software and dont get as much enjoyment out of it as i do with real players. with these i seem to get best of both!
And Denon used to make good / quality gear, don't get me wrong, but DNS 5000 / DN 9000 are the best from Denon, PERIOD. DN 3500 / 6000 has chitty drives, HS 5500 are far to expensive, you don't even get a caddy for a harddrive or cd from the beginnin, that's a laugh.
Denon stuff all there machines to the brim, Pioneer doesn't, that's why the are more popular.
i respect your opinion, i have heard that the dn s1000 were the best when they came out, but right now if that model has been discontinued (excuse my english :D ) , due to the availability of parts, i'd go for the 1200.
Denon makes ok gear, although with that cd player I think that stud sticking out in the middle of the platter would be a bit frustrating but hey thats just me...nice vid
I was unfortunately put on these denons at a recent gigs and i freekin HATED em. I have never struggled so much before until i was on these. I couldn't figure out the jog wheel, the frame search for fine-tuning and locking in a mix was not only delayed severely, but also hyper sensitive. I have never been so miserable at a gig, and vowed to never play on these peices of junk ever again. Best use for these: Doorstops to the clubs restrooms.
yeah i was like that to all exited openin my new CDJ400's and DJM400 and in the process i through out my reciept for the bloody things..... Suppose ure thinkin "What a tit" wel at least i am.
I dont get the hype about denon cdj's. There ugly! poorly built! and there only £180 cheaper then the CDJ400s. I know id rather pay the extra £180 for some decent kit.
Another great video, Johnathan. Not really a fan of CDJ's, more of a vinyl junkie. But they looked kinda cool. Can we donate old dj equipment in working condition to you? If so reply to this comment or message me :-)
Wicked sounds like a great idea, loads of djs together sharing tips and tutorials on different equipment etc. maybe an annual convention somewhere, just an idea johnathan :-) Then all back to your place for a mega nutty video and chocolate lol
First you need to figure out what you are going to play i.e what style of music etc. No point buy a scratch/turntablist mixer if you wanna dj house music for example. Most importantly buy what you can afford, having something to practice on, is better then nothing to practice on. No point waiting and saving for two years, buying the best equipment and finding out you dont want to dj.
thanks craig :-) Also like to add when buying your equipment when your just starting out djing especially mixers, go for something basic. Your better off with a basic 2 channel mixer to learn the foundations of basic djing techniques, then something that £900 with loads of gear on it!
Its worked for me when i was starting out as turntablist, mates all brought the vestax pmc-07 pro isp edition, probably the best turntablist mixer when i starting out. I went for a no nonsense cheap mixer, learnt the basic before them, as they got overwhelmed by the mixers function.
ok man, send me a message to my inbox of what your equipment your looking to purchase, price range etc and i will try and recommend some products etc.
SOME REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER THE DENON DN-S1200 OVER THE PIONEER CDJ-400: CDJ-400 has: -No WAV File support by USB -USB Speed 1.1 vs Denon's 2.0 -No Hot Starts, DN-S1200 has two -Only one Loop vs two on the DN-S1200 -No Advanced Search Options -No database system (scans drive at each connection, could take 10-min before ready, each time!) -No KB support for fast searching -No playlist options -Supports 20K files per device vs DN-S1200 50K
The denon creates a database of the usb device, the 400 needs to rescan the WHOLE drive everytime u connect the usb drive (that takes long @ usb 1.1) + the deno got usb 2.0 :p
I've read lots of reviews, and they more positive about the DNS1200 then the CDJ400.
im really new to all this stuff and I was wondering if its possible for me just to buy the denon 1200 by itself or would I have to buy the 120 mixer to?

untox 3 years ago

WTFK? ...is not fair, too expensive :((
expertphp 3 years ago
actually expertphp, Denon DN-S100 x2 + Denon DN-X120 = around 1,500 usd
guitarplayer529 3 years ago
oops Denon DN-S1200..
sorry.. I've been typing DN-S1000 alot, describing it to my friends. haha

i'm getting the exact setup
tks989 3 years ago
you dont need some computer program for these turntables right?
FluffyProductions101 3 years ago
nvm. but would it be wierd/ a good idea to have a denon s1200 and the other turntable a s3500 ?
FluffyProductions101 3 years ago
could you do a dns1200 vs cdj400 video? i think thats the big question on everyone's lips! if your already in the process of making one, ignore this post!
Im about to buy some cd deck and a mixer and want to know should i get the exact setup you have there or save up some more and get 400's. im used to mixing in software and dont get as much enjoyment out of it as i do with real players. with these i seem to get best of both!
Thanks

Iv'e used most of the top players on the market
And Denon used to make good / quality gear, don't get me wrong, but DNS 5000 / DN 9000 are the best from Denon, PERIOD. DN 3500 / 6000 has chitty drives, HS 5500 are far to expensive, you don't even get a caddy for a harddrive or cd from the beginnin, that's a laugh.
Denon stuff all there machines to the brim, Pioneer doesn't, that's why the are more popular.
DN 9000 = best 19" dual player
CDJ 1000 = best Tabletop player
DJM 909 = Best mixer

i respect your opinion, i have heard that the dn s1000 were the best when they came out, but right now if that model has been discontinued (excuse my english :D ) , due to the availability of parts, i'd go for the 1200.

do they work with virtual dj?

Denon makes ok gear, although with that cd player I think that stud sticking out in the middle of the platter would be a bit frustrating but hey thats just me...nice vid
DudasMiska 3 years ago
does the new version of the denon mixer still suck like the old one?
DjStinkles 3 years ago
I was unfortunately put on these denons at a recent gigs and i freekin HATED em. I have never struggled so much before until i was on these. I couldn't figure out the jog wheel, the frame search for fine-tuning and locking in a mix was not only delayed severely, but also hyper sensitive. I have never been so miserable at a gig, and vowed to never play on these peices of junk ever again. Best use for these: Doorstops to the clubs restrooms.

DJTGM 3 years ago
I dont get the hype about denon cdj's. There ugly! poorly built! and there only £180 cheaper then the CDJ400s. I know id rather pay the extra £180 for some decent kit.
buckers86 3 years ago
i gotta agree!

You got the new line of denon gear, nice.

Another great video, Johnathan. Not really a fan of CDJ's, more of a vinyl junkie. But they looked kinda cool. Can we donate old dj equipment in working condition to you? If so reply to this comment or message me :-)

Sooo you need Two DN-S1200 And One DN-X120 HELP ME!!!!
DjRalfy 3 years ago
What you mean by help me?
TheEvilVileNemesis 3 years ago
Im Want to make professional mixes but the problem is i dont know what to buy.
DjRalfy 3 years ago
First you need to figure out what you are going to play i.e what style of music etc. No point buy a scratch/turntablist mixer if you wanna dj house music for example. Most importantly buy what you can afford, having something to practice on, is better then nothing to practice on. No point waiting and saving for two years, buying the best equipment and finding out you dont want to dj.
TheEvilVileNemesis 3 years ago
quality points here for any beginner
nice one fella, you've pretty much wrote the comment that i've been tryin to write and make sence to people for ages.
craigk2000 3 years ago
thanks craig :-) Also like to add when buying your equipment when your just starting out djing especially mixers, go for something basic. Your better off with a basic 2 channel mixer to learn the foundations of basic djing techniques, then something that £900 with loads of gear on it!
TheEvilVileNemesis 3 years ago
Its worked for me when i was starting out as turntablist, mates all brought the vestax pmc-07 pro isp edition, probably the best turntablist mixer when i starting out. I went for a no nonsense cheap mixer, learnt the basic before them, as they got overwhelmed by the mixers function.

these or the cdj-400s?
AJGallichan 3 years ago
yeah good question thats what I was about to ask but I'm thinking the 400 CDj is better so what do u think?
djnineeleven 3 years ago
danielsoto888 3 years ago
Between the CDJ-400 and the DN-S1200, go with the Denon and save yourself some cash.
groovindj 3 years ago
why do u think its better?
The denon creates a database of the usb device, the 400 needs to rescan the WHOLE drive everytime u connect the usb drive (that takes long @ usb 1.1) + the deno got usb 2.0 :p
I've read lots of reviews, and they more positive about the DNS1200 then the CDJ400.
