my guitar. martin dcx1e, elixir strings

Bought a Taylor 110e the other day. Kinda wish I had shopped around a bit more, as it's a bit bright for my tastes. But perhaps it's just the sound of "new" strings on the thing. I've heard Martin Guitars are a bit warmer in how they sound. ???

I find it still kinda bright sounding, but it's been a lot better since I've tuned down to 432hz from the standard 440hz. The korg tuners can adjust. Try it out!

im not as skilled yet but i bought the same guitar and my instructor has set me up with elixir strings. been jamming ode to joy! bout got it down!

They last a really long time. If you have a tuner that you can change frequencies, try tuning everything down to 432hz instead of the standard 440hz. You'll be able to train your ear a lot quicker. happy playing!

I got mine off of e-bay and at first I felt used, it is made in Mexico...but after playing it for about two minutes, I realized that it has Martins' name because, my god, it sounds great and the action....I don't regret this purchase at all!!! It sounds and plays better than all my freinds Taylers!! That's no lie!

Me too, Got a Martin Dcx1e and it is just stunning and sounds beutiful, but the best thing is, it sounds alot more what can i say more pepper in the price than it really is not much because of the look on it but the sound, GOD i love it. And after my opinion Yes Martin & Co. is better than Taylor its just a level higher, tryed many Martins and Taylors and i just think that the sound is Much more magic than Taylor, taylor is also a good mark no doubt but Taylors guitars just sounds more ordinary.

mhm, i just installed those elixir on my guitar :):) i reccomend you custom light, as its easy to play on, but they are pretty loud, and really bright sound, which lasts like forever almost. and dude btw.. the chords u played at the start were just the same chords i did today just after i installed the strings :D:D actually.. i was playing photographs by nickelback ;)

Wow...those do sound awesome. Do you notice a big difference between the elixirs and say Martin SPs or d'Darrios in the sound of your guitar? What gauge are you using. Are they nanoweb? I play a Martin too. I like mediums and wonder if medium elixirs would fill the bill.

the best strings for acoustic guitar are elixir nanoweb light phosphor bronze but thats just my opinion but whatever you do dont buy the polyweb the coating is way too thick

Elixers are the WORST STRINGS EVER!! I've given them probably 3 chances... they're always dead within a few weeks and they're the only string I've broken since I was first learning guitar.

You, sir, are a dumbass. My uncle used the same set of elixers for a year while he was having financial troubles and NEVER broke a string, and he's a rough player. You're obviously doing something wrong. I use em too now, and I've never had a problem.
