  • I support what the MDA does, but as individuals they can all go to hell. Jerry was what made the telethon great and they unceremoniously kicked him out on the street. Jerry you are a god!

  • That kind of fun be never be replaced. Jerry has had an awesome impact in the world of entertainment and the medical world as well. The movies and telethons that he's been in are sheer magic to look at.

  • Jerry did not die, He was fired becaude of "The great Americe Idio" They can go to hell. They was to tell us what to watch and when. Sorry Jerry been Labor day for 50 years. Tell me who else have done that??? No one be him and all for love.

  • Never again will I give a f*ckin penny to these morons! Jerry IS MDA, without him they ain't shit! We love you Jerry!!!!!!

  • MDA CONTACT INFO. 1-800-572-1717 per there website. We all need to start calling them and let them know how pisted we are about them not letting Jerry atleast I mean ATLEAST let him tell his fans and the kids Goodbye. After all he's done for them for the past 45 years and even if he's not gonna be the host they should also keep the name "The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon" Thumbs up if you agree...

  • i miss u jerry i will always cherish the memories that u have given me all of my life

  • I am boycotting the telethon this year by NOT watching it nor donating to it because of the way they treated Jerry. After all that he's done for MDA. As bad as I hate to say it I really hope that this year will be the lowest in ratings and the lowest money they ever got. I feel bad for Jerry and the kids but the public needs to speak out and be HEARD after the stunt MDA has pulled. NO CLASS MDA NOOOOOO CLASS...

  • @FireitupBedford So having class is more important to you than helping kids? Ok.

  • @jeffthefishdotcom You missed the point all together...

  • In This Clip, From 4:07 To 6:01, It Was "The 2010 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon" Video Open From September 5, 2010 And September 6, 2010.

  • This year's opening of the 2011 MDA Telethon was a joke. Jerry Lewis will be missed!

  • boycott MDA they kicked Jerry out we should kick their ass out and who ever made that discussion they should keep turning in their sleep

  • Very sad indeed that JERRY won't be participating in the telethon this year. Research is a tricky thing and yet, over the years, they have managed to make inroads into these dreaded muscle wasting diseases. Don't forget that the only way to obliterate these diseases is to use stem cell research and genetic reengineering. This technology is very new. I think that to blame the org and Jerry is ridiculous. We love you Jerry xxxxxxxx

  • shut up bitch

  • MDA, get Jerry back! P L E A S E!

  • Does anybody have the real story about why Jerry was fired? I'd be interested in hearing it.

  • I'd like to know what really went down with Jerry now being out as MDA chairman.

  • @Jukeboxfun He was Fired because the Board had had it with his bullshit and it was about time Good Riddance.

  • As an MDA patient I'm withdrawing my membership in MDA organization. This organization collects hundreds of millions of dollars in donations from people & corporations then divides this amount among doctors & administrators in the name of "research" while it denies the most basic help,a wheelchair, from actual patients.Meanwhile 2 related doctors named Katz work for San Francisco clinic,3 friend/doctors from the same country India/paks. work for Phoenix clinic collecting $150k each doing nothing.

  • @Hesam0000 Yes and Jerry collects $1.5 million plus a $10 million bonus for raising a certain number of funds ( not just T-thons but year round fundraising.) MDA is a sham

  • Paris By Night

  • I want to send him a fan letter, how do people find the addresses to send them to?!

  • I didn't even know that he still did these !! Ohhhhh goodness I've been missing it all my life ... Jerry Lewis is a true humanitarian...he is so very big hearted and kindhearted...well over 60 years of laughter, tears and dedication, he derserves more credit than he's been getting...HE'S KING <3

  • What REALLY happens to all the money donated to these telathons? Nobody really knows. And you probably will never know.

I stopped giving over 20 years ago.

  • @cheeriosinabowl - the MDA is a NPF org. Their financial records are open to public scrutiny. Please check the website for further information. All of the professional acts donate their time.

  • this will be his last appearance on the MDA telethon. R.I.P.

  • @BurkeDevlin66 unfortunately!

  • I Love, love Jerry Lewis <3!!!!!!

  • @BurkeDevlin66 - Jerry Lewis is alive and relatively well in Arizona.

  • @BurkeDevlin66 how can you say something like this ?and what's this about your closing?is it about you?this man has the biggest heart of all of us!he will do this work as long as he lives...and i think this would be a lot of years more(maybe you might know or will live)

  • @BurkeDevlin66 SOOOO SAD..... stupid producers !!!

  • @BurkeDevlin66 What do you mean "rest in peace"?

  • @BurkeDevlin66 Jerry's not dead, y'know, he's just off fuming somewhere. At least at this writing...

  • This show gives hope not only to MD suffers but to all of us who know when we watch Jerry we watch a man who has tried is damndest trying oblirate an awful disease. You just can't fault the man forhis bravura~that's the way show biz was back than. That's the reason that we had such great of yesteryear; because they knew their incredible worth and let us receive the love from them. If Jerry didn't have a big ego he wouldn't be JERRY

  • @damone77 they just killed the show - they reduced it down to 6 hours.

  • do you know if the Cactus Cuties performed at the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon 2010

  • @TheJenna1 sorry, i don´t know.

  • A Paris by night like nhu loan & toc tien

  • if so such doctors and scientists are stealing money from jerry lewis and if so jerry lewis should prosicuite all such doctors and scientists jerry lewis please look in to this please all of my thoughts and all of my prayers are with you and i pray that god will alllllll ways richly blless you jeerry lewis

  • i dont meen to make head waves but ther may be dishonest doctors and scientists that may be just pocketing all of the resech money for md reserch and just pocketing the money and not doing the reserch and makeing it look like thay are doing the reserch when in reality thay might not be doing the reserch so i would suggest jerry lewis investegate and investegate well and if so dont give such doctors and sccientists are stealing money

  • It surprised me when I heard Smile for his entrance knowing Charles Chaplin wrote this song! The spirits of these two great comedians were together on this scene!!

  • it surprised me when I heard Smile for his entrance knowing Charles Chaplin wrote this song! The spirits of these two great comedians were together on this scene.

  • growing up as a kid i used to watch all of his movies and now that im in my 20s i still love watching his movies even though those flims were long before my time, i still enjoy them :)

  • What a self-serving blowhard more interested in his legacy than the telethon; the telethon is a front.

  • watching jerry here...i gotta think he may not make it to telethon 2011....its hard to see these guys like this...frank singing summer wind in 1992..i didnt need to see that...

jerry will be with dean,l frank and sammy soon... in his prime jerry must have bones thousands of chicks..i wanna come back as his penis in my next life...

  • Nasty Ray STOLE THE SHOW. Great idea having a B-Boy in the middle of all those brilliant dancers. B-Boys can do a lot more than break!

  • Anyone who don't like him or what he do,simply go away. He give handicapped people like me hope and love. He accept me as I am a person. I have loved him all my life and I will forever. Is he always right? no! But he is a lot better then we have today and people how was to be actors who thinks of them self only. Jerry have be fightong for his kids for 60 years. Please name one other person who have that dedication like he dose? thank you!!!!

  • @newbeginxyz Jerry singing You'll Never Walk Alone is the best art of the telethon. It doesn't matter how he sounds singing it, it's the meaning in the words of the song. Jerry made a comittment to the MDA many years ago and he has kept it, no matter how his personal health has been affected. Like the old people use to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut."

  • Jerry is a psychotic. i hope i see him somewhere someday. i'm going to trip him then kick him in the stomach and run

  • i am a big fan of jerry lewis and i have not missed one telothon since i was born and i have a coment for the man or woman that made the first coment......FUCK you..... evan in his 80's he is a wonderful singe

  • Mack the Knife played by dancer Raymond "NastyRay" Mora of San Jose, California. 1 Bboy + tap dancers + great singer = great performance. Choreographed by Tyce Diorio . Thanks for the opening show. Good luck to MDS to find a cure.

  • Great opening with Sean Paul, but a unusual opening, sounds like a merengue, it's the First time that I can hear the Jerry's theme in merengue, because in some years use the classic Big Band format. I can imagine the telethon opening in a latin arrangement of the musical director. Excelente!

  • what a shitty opening

  • Like many I have been watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon since I was a child and I do hope they find a cure soon. In the meantime Jerry does much good for the cause and will be remembered as not only a great performer but a great humanitarian as well. Yours truly Vic Martino.

  • Jerry Lewis has done more for people in one day than most people do in a life time.

Stay off his case, he is a very rare part of the American landscape and a legend. That is more than 99.9% of you people will ever do with your lives. So for all you insignificant bastards that are criticising Mr. Lewis take a hike.

  • I was so upset I missed this, thank you for uploading it. I LOVE Jerry Lewis and look forward to his telethon every year. The ending when he sings brings loving tears tu my eyes! Im going to save this clip. God Bless you Jerry. You have brought such laughter to my life, you are the best!!!

  • Shame on Las Vegas for this show not to be at the Mirage or Harrahs or some other top end Hotel on the Strip!

  • Who the f--- are these people?? There are bigger stars on Mexican television.

  • I always smack people in the mouth when there begging for help. Jerry I love Cinderfella, but common dude what does al Jolson have to do with anything. I know who al Jolson is and I'm 16 the man use to dress up his face in black makeup and mock the niggers, tho I'm black myself Im not offended I just know that Jolson was a dummy and so not funny ok ?

  • I don't care what anyone says, I love Jerry and he's the best for his outstanding commitment to this cause all these years. Being liked and being respected are often not the same thing; regardless of whether or not you like him, the positive impact he's made on the lives of thousands of kids with MD is pretty damn undeniable. He deserves the corresponding respect.

  • talk to us when you make nearly a billion for charity newbegin...lol

  • 84 years old and still going strong. Way to go Jerry!

To all of you that have nothing but bad things to say about Jerry and the telethon, I ask, what have you ever done to try and better this world?

  • @Safron49... I don't want a reply back from you, I don't care personally if you like JL or not. His popularity to people is not the importance of the MDA or its Telethon (he would be the first to tell you) Its a disgrace to be a local volunteer to the MDA for the past 20 years to sign on and to watch highlights of this informative program and to read your crap. Tell the MDA clinics, clinicians, volunteers that what they do doesn't make a difference. Why do you even watch the telethon??? !!!

  • @The6000Sabre I don't like JL period. I prefer children and animals. I keep hearing they are close to finding the gene to MD. In the mean time without telethons many genes have been discovered and identifed that cause other genetic diseases. I watch Discovery Health.

Meddical equipment, treatment, and hospital care for EVERY family that has a love one afflicted with any MD then it is money well spent. I don't donate in money, it is with services and goods.

  • To the following YouTube users: newbeinxyz and mostly to Safron49, I think if either one of you or to those that have left negative comments regarding the videos left with Jerry Lewis and the MDA telethon. I think for being 84 years old and dedicating his life with volunteer work Jerry deserves only respect no matter what song he sings or his personal life. ps Saffron MS is not affiliated with the MDA do some research before you comment. The families and people are benefiting

  • @SamuelJDisalvo I already corrected myself. I meant MD.

Sorry, I judge a person by their whole character, that includes how they treat their children, children they may of made while cheating on their spouse, etc. So far he doesn't have a good track record. DM although a philander as well, was a loving father to his kids, and an all around nice person.

  • @newbeginxyz but come on, Jerry was deeply touched!

  • @newbeginxyz Was someone twisting your arm, to watch it ? You're pitiful !

  • @newbeginxyz Dude, he's 84 years old.

  • @newbeginxyz aw come on.... Jerry was overcome with emotion... atrocious? Pitiful? I don't think anyone would think so. .......least not anyone with a heart anyway.

  • @newbeginxyz You obviously are not much out of your 20s. Jerry Lewis singing You'll Never Walk Alone is a huge part of the telethon. There is so much meaning behind him singing that song.

  • Jerry Lewis has created a telethon that's still here after 60 years, which has raised over a billion dollars for research. Research has led to medical equipment and drugs that have raised the quality of life for children with neuro-muscular diseases. Since it addresses several diseases, do not expect one cure. It's important to assure quality for the lives of these kids through camps, Special Olympics, powered wheelchairs, etc., while scientists try to develop cures. God bless "Jerry's kids"!!

  • The JL telethon has a pretty good track record with the ues of the funds vs. administration costs, and many of the services that MDA offers are free to the families that need them. And in case everyone doesn't know, up until a few years ago Lewis was in constant back pain due to a bad fall he took on one of the telethons many years ago when he was doing one of his comedy routines.

  • I didn't watch the telethon and I don't contribute to it beyond giving a buck or two to the firemen on the corner every year. But Saffron49, no one every said you have to be perfect to try to make a difference. And quite frankly, it's not a good idea to just hand money over to families. Nothing comes from that type of support other than to make people dependent on the funds.

  • @thepookiemon I was referring to medical expenses, hospital c are etc.

  • Thank you so much for uploading!!

  • @Dfriend07 you´re welcome!

  • Very lovely young lady!

  • as sam kinison always said, "the cash or the cure jerry, the cash or the cure"

  • Thanks for posting this...

  • @The6000Sabre Actually, I do many things not just for people but for animals as well. I am not going to list them, but I do not contribute to telethons, until I know exactly where the money is going. Sorry, 60 years is way too long for a cure.

Yes, you can prolong lives and provide better therapy and drugs, but the whole purpose according JL, is a cure.

  • @Saffron49 And when you contribute to other causes, THEN you know where the money is going...right??? give me a break...putting an F'in time limit on a cure?? You could be helping PEOPLE that actually have problems BUT instead you wanna help your precious animals. MDA doesn't need a pathetic SAFFRON THREAD like yourself. Why even bother posting? just shut your mouth

  • STOP TALKING ABOUT WHETHER YOU LIKE OR DISLIKE JERRY LEWIS!!! THINK ABOUT THE KIDS AND ADULTS THAT HAVE TO SUFFER EVERY DAY FROM THIS DEVASTATING DISEASE...AND LEARN ABOUT THE DISEASE OR AT LEAST GET THE NAME OF IT CORRECT!!! (IT'S CALLED MD NOT MS, CAN ANYONE EVER GET THIS RIGHT? :S) INSTEAD OF TALKING ABOUT JERRY LEWIS, DONATE SOME MONEY TO HELP THESE PEOPLE OUT AND BE THANKFUL THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH WHAT THEY DO!!

  • As for my friend who had MDA, his family had fill out application, this telethon help him with bills, supplies, therapy, even helped with the burial. my friend died from this illness. He suffered for six years.

  • Jerry Lewis is 84, this maybe his last year to do this show. Always keep in mind his age when comes to his attitude, he is very old fashion, many ideas of still stuck in 1950s'. He is the only one raises money for MDA, I known someone who had died from the illness. He went from walking with a cane to a wheelchair to the grave, in very short time. The money they raise helped him and family with medical bills.

  • @Saffron49 "OK", still no cure 60 years after, but the dead-age of these people took a high level in these years!

  • @Saffron49 It's the Muscular Dystrophy (MD!!) telethon, not MS!!! Their two completely different conditions. What are you...illiterate AND hard of hearing?? AND ignorant?? Sure just give donated money thats mostly used in research to find a cure for the deadly disease to the families, just for them to blow it?? a lot of money raised for the telethon IS given to families in ways of wheelchairs, paying for medications, sending kids to camp and many other things. Do some research b4 you comment!!

  • @ABNORMALMUZIK Ooops, I meant MD. With all the money that they have raised over the years, they could actually help the families more. Maybe, some people who know that they are a carrier of various muscular diseases should not have children. My husband knew a family where all three of their children had it, all in wheelchairs suffering and deteriorating. They knew the risks, and didn't care.

  • @Saffron49 Jerry Lewis is a very good hearted person to do this , for the disabled. He don't make anything out of this, nothing so he is very good hearted man. The only thing I agree with you on is that family who had three children with MD knowing they are carrier of various muscular diseases, that is wrong to bring kids to live such a life. pure evil, Forced Sterlization should become the law for familes who have one MD baby to stop any more births and all drug addicted mothers.
  • @Saffron49 go to hell why don't you give them some cash the guy is trying to find a cure and is working on it for 60 years and you are calling him a phony!!!!! what a douche and you want him to give the money to the families and you don't think of other families and there chldren with MS imagine if it's in youre family would you want money or the cuer

  • @Saffron49 if you're gonna knock jerry for what he's doing, you'd do best to get the organization name correct. it's MD (muscular dystrophy) not MS (multiple schlerosis) although this too is a worthy cause. even though no known cure has been found, the life expectancy of these kids and adults has improved. funny how people knock when people are trying to do good until they need their help. you'd probably come crawling. if I didn't believe in this, I wouldn't have volunteered for 31 years

  • @Saffron49 - My cousin had MD- died in 1995. The MDA did help his family financially. The paid for all of his equipment (wheelchair) breathing machine and so on. They sent him to MDA camp every year, and help fund his many hospital stays. And YES there is no cure, BUT even 20 years ago when a child was diagnosed, they didn't have long to live. Today, with the new treatments they have kids diagnosed young living well into thier 20's. They have come a LONG way. At least it gives kids HOPE!

  • @Saffron49 One other thing you forgot to mention with your "phony" comment, Jerry has funded the MDA 100% with donations for that entire 60 years without asking for government tax dollars. This telethon is not all he does, he is active with the MDA 365 days a year. My cousin was just 1 little boy in a world of billions. He said he'd love to meet Jerry... Jerry personally called him on the phone, and sent him a bunch of his movies and signed pictures and wrote him a nice letter. He's no phony

  • @Saffron49

He does give money to the people who already have MSD. He sends them to camp, buts them wheelchairs, offers them medical supplies and they have made break throughs. We would all like to see MS be cured, sadly it's not as easy as you seem to think it is.

  • Jerry Lewis is such an a**hole to his staff. And as I have already heard today, just because he does a good deed for a few hours over the span of 2 days doesn't make him any less of a homophobic and hateful jerk the other 363 days of the year. Also, his dentures make him look like Martha Raye.

  • @divinegrace01 what i know about jerry is enough for me to say: i totally DISagree with you.

  • @divinegrace01 f**k u i don't see any one else doing what he is doing

  • The guy's nuts, he's calling the cameraman a member of the Third Reich?

  • thanks, gregg, for letting us know about this great number - classy! nice choreography as always, tyce : )

  • Jerry is truly a hero in his kids eyes as well as God's. As one of his kids for the past 50 years, it is part of my heart.

  • dido "snowleopard010", my husband is there right now driving for the legendary band WAR! hopefuly I can catch them here..since i didnt record their performance...

  • @snowleopard010 you´re welcome! a hug from Brazil.

  • I'm watching it now. I hope this dear man lives forever. His compassion is an inspiration to ALL!!. Now that being said....have we each done our part is helping this worthy cause?. GOD BLESS YOU JERRY!!

  • Klunket.....I agree! Im 40 years old now, and can remember well being a child and watching the telethon every year. Jerry Lewis is who truly thought me at a young age to have "Compassion" for others and the disabled. I can remember taking my allowance each year and sending it to Jerry's Kids.

God Bless Jerry and His Kids!

  • That girl is so cute!

  • This week locally there were handicapped poeple protesting Jerry and his telethon, SHOUTING take it off the air! They say Jerry stereotypes them, and promotes pity toward people with a disability.Have we really sunk that low in society that political correctness attempts to take away anything good, and wholesome?Jerry Lewis has given 60 years of his life in a desperate attempt to find a cure! He deserves much credit-even if it is pity,if that pity saves even one life, then its all been worth it!

  • @KLUNKET Wow, I always thought that the telethon brought awareness to MD. Too bad that some people choose to view it as promoting pity...SMH

  • I love Jerry so much. Thank you for uploading this.
