Why do doctors insist on labeling people with garbage like ADHD and Autism, or whatever. Its just your personality. It isn't some sorta disorder. Way to demoralize us! Sheesh, and they wonder why the suicide rate is rising.
Mental disorders affect a person's behavior. They are a disorder because if said person didn't have autism, they would conduct themselves very differently, rather than someone who was just diagnosed with breast cancer, or alopecia. Take the cancer or alopecia away and that person wouldn't act any differently than if they did have it.
@Limedaiquar *Sighs* So? Its their personality. So what if they're a bit strange? I'm a bit strange cuz I have ADHD, I could say, however, I'm just a bit strange by personality :T
@xannmax Your wrong, ADHD is a jenetic irregularity in the brain. It causes norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors to block endorphin and dopamine. This results in behavural abnormalities and depretion. IT IS REAL!!!!!!!!!
@MrRobwave No sh!t Sherlock. Oh, and great job spelling "genetic". Just thought I'd point that out. For the record, I have ADHD, in case you didn't see, so I know what's wrong with me. I'm one of those people who get tweaked when we're labeled. "Disabled" or "Emo" or whatever else we can think up. That's why I refer to it as ones personality, I don't walk up to someone and say: "You're disability is really unique!" I'd rather say: "You're personality is really unique!"
Well i'm also dyslexic, and have ADHD and the rubish you spout belittles everything I have been through. I don't like the lables eather but they are essential fro the understanding of "normal" people. And if some poor 12 year old ADHD kid read your letter he could come to the conclution there was nothing wrong with him, and everything was his fault, trust me, that cind of guilt can tear you apart.

I'm simply pointing out I hate the labels and I'd rather not have them used in such harsh ways, call me a sissy or whatever you want, I don't like the labels.
An old teacher told my mom I that probably had ADHD. My mom didn't know really, and trying to help me she thought that the med would make the disorder go away. Well we know that isn't true. It only helps to curb the symptoms. Ritalin effects everyone differently, personally I don't think it worked well for me. But, others may find it beneficial for them. I'm trying to find ways to manage my disorder. I can't remember people or some places I've been to. It hurts to feel out of control.

Find your nearest mental health care practitioner and schedule an appointment to discuss your questions about adult ADHD. You'll probably have to be referred once or twice before you can be tested, it's getting better but it's still something most psychiatrists don't do much. I had to take a long battery of tests to find out I had it (I was very positive).
Oh, and btw, you don't have ADHD until you're diagnosed, it's very hard to diagnose and therefore often misdiagnosed.
I have ADHD and DL . I was dignoset with it at child hood age. It has been a strougle to live with it into childhood but it is a learning experance and it takes a loving familly to help you along the way.
I am glad to know that their are other out their like me. I have thought about starting a weekly vlog about my life with adult adhd but i don't know if I should or if others would make fun of me for doing so.
@frankv74 If you feel it's something that would make you feel better then do it.
Let your feelings out, people on YouTube need to see what it's REALLY like for those of us that suffer with this because almost all the videos on here (relating to ADHD) are from the drug companies or stupid kids thinking they're funny by speeding up pre-recorded video (neither of which will help the image of the disorder as a whole).
@DarthVantos Ritalin was horrible for me. As a child I remember simply being artistic, I didn't care for math it didn't interest me. The meds helped me concentrate in school. However, I felt symptoms of depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and lethargy. I went from being the talkative, inhibited kid to the passive, quiet and shy kid. It really did a number on my overall personality, now at age 24 I'm working on self improvement, becoming more outgoing. Still have problems functioning

Hello Taylor, I was diagnosed last year but the damage has been done. It's pretty much ruined my life and now I suffer from depression. They say it's a shame as' they say' I am a very intelligent and handsome man. I need help. can you help me? By the way i'm English.
Hello Johnny, my names Rob and I too have recently bean diagnosed with ADHD. I am 34 and up until 4 weeks ago my life was a nightmare of depression and anxiety. Then I was prescribed
Ritalin (methylphenidate) 60-80 mg daily. It was like magic, the nightmare stopped.
if you are not being given this drug go to your G.P. and insist they try you on it!
@MrRobwave The doctor is going to view that as drug seeking behavior, especially if not diagnosed in childhood! Methylphenidate is a controlled substance, schedule II...insisting on it wont work. Also, there are other methylin based medications that can work as well. Talk to your doctor about your concerns and collaborate for your care. Insisting upon any medication is likely to get you labeled as a drug seeker. 60mg is the maximum dosage of ritalin approved by the FDA per day, for adults.
Why would it be considered as drug seeking behavior when I am not seeking it? I get it on prescription. I know what JohnyZenith is going through, & its Hell. I had to tell him there may be a way out, & I would do the same thing again. 60mg is not the maximum dosage of ritalin in the U.K., I could go up to 150mg's. So keep your nose out of other peoples business & go & do something constructive with your time. I do not appreciate being accused of "drug seeking" by a total stranger!
send this video to those whom are ignorant! thanks for the video. you said everything i try to tell people, but i end up losing my train of thought when overwhelmed by A Holes. i should show them your video haha.
This video is fantastic, I want to thank this young lady for sharing her knowledge of this horrific imbalance. This disease can take over your life if not treated, unfortunetly back in my day I was just known as the "bad kid" who could not sit still. My condition has worstened as I get older and my career as a clinical research coordinator is on the line due to the impulsivity, glazed answers, and dis-organization. I can only hope this Vyvanse can help me. Thank you for the post
Well... have you ever thought that maybe clincal research coordinator wasn't the right choice for you?
Yikes. That's scary because I thought I wanted to be a clinical reserach coordinator, actually! The more i read about it, the more I see aspects I would love and aspects that my personality just isn't compatible with.
I know the feeling back in my day they thought that I was just a failure in school and every six weeks when report cards came out I come home and just assume the posion of getting my buttt whup
You know what really sucks! You can't get meds unless you pay out the butt for them! I was diagnosed as an adult but always had problems in school. Then I started going to college and got a free grant to be tested because I was having such a problem. I have severe ADD/ADHD, or at least thats what the person who tested me said. The testing was long and annoying and It lasted 3 days! But I can't get anything to help me with it. Oh well, I have lived with it all this time I guess Ill have to deal.
Please do not give up. Seek therapy and medical options. Many of the pharma companies have programs to help ones who are not insured. Please look into it, this imbalance will not just go away, if anything it can get worse, I know
Hi I was just diagnosed with severe add/adhd.I'm now taking vyvanse it's at 30 mg's and I feel really irratable and anxious.I still can't focus very well.I'am also still feeling angry for being diagnosed so late in life...although I've read that this is very common with women.
I was placed on vyvance it helps me keep focus not get distracted so easily, no loose my train of thought as much and not be so irritable and anxious...
I have ADHD an it started getting out of control so once I went and talked to my doctor and told him everything that was going on he gave me this diagnosis and life has been better every since...

Drugs are not for me
