oh baby i love you so; i need you now; i want you back; i can't go on... i wish i could send this to someone without him knowing who it was. he doesn't know how i feel. i could let the song speak my feelings? or not, seeing as how i already know the reaction i'd get... (i hate you!; i wish i'd never met you!; all you've ever done is made me miserable! blah etc blah) this is one of my favourite songs. my favourite inxs number is 'never tear us apart' but this is a close second...
This version was my first exposure to the song, and I remembered it as having a great chorus but bland unmemorable verses. Now that I've heard the original, I wonder why INXS bothered doing such an insipid version. The original was awesome all the way through, still sounds groundbreakingly original to my ears today, and one of the most heavy, intense songs of the era.
This song fits my break up perfectly. It's amazing how many times I've listened to it and it's only just starting to hit me how much of a powerful love/break up song it is.
nzoz thanks for posting this one. It's been years since I've heard it,eventhough I have the album I miss this number. Going to start playing all those songs again.
Wow this exact version was my first exposure to the AMAZING INXS. I will always love this and it is THE BOMB. Sorry even their later one on 'Kick' was not as good. Truly awesome.
Sure, their early albums were great but they're no substitute to seeing these guys live. eg. They were unknowns supporting the chisels at the Manly Vale in 1980 when they were launching their East album and got upstaged by michael and the boys.
ATCO/Rhino should release remastered versions of INXS' first four albums since there are Atlantic/Rhino remasters of all their classics except Listen Like Thieves.
AAAAAH! This is the first song I can remember hearing and being aroused by. My young loins stirred for the first time! I've been trying to find it on iTunes but no luck - only later versions. I'm SO glad you posted this. Thank you thank you. I cried all day, the day Michael Hutchence died. Oh yeah, and blew an eardrum at their show in Brisbane in 1985? 84? A long time ago. Thanks again.
Remember being in McDonald's in Nunawading on a Sunday morning and reading about Michael's untimely death - absolutely shattered
Remember seeing INXS at one of the pubs in Preston (Crammer Club??), they were the support act for Australian Crawl, and everybody booed them because A, they were from Adelaide, or B, we wanted to see James Reyne - if only we had known on that that night where they would go??
Fantastic!i remember these guys as a pub band, loved them ever since........oops,i guess iv just let the cat out of the bag as to how old i am......never mind, theres no age limit to listen to good music:)
@wild4inxs it's not too hard to get... this version (clearer than most) is from a special source, but I cannot disclose. It's the original master copy, minus the poor sound a layered on it.
@nzoz1981 Michael Hutchence's little brother gave it to nzoz1981 for a fee... I hope selling off his brother's merchandise has made him enough to get him to Holland.
I will upload Loved Ones version on my nz'66 channel sometime in the future when I have some time to kill. I'm glad INXS approached the song differently to how Loved Ones recorded it. Good job and thankfully it internationalised a classic.
Esta cancion cambio mi vida y la forma de ver la musica de INXS, magnifica interpretacion de Michael y que buenos musicos los hermanos Farris. gracias por publicarlo.
Michael Hutchence, changed me life after meeting in person, if there was a God he was it and I don't care wot anyone says, he was a Great man with gift to do anything he wanted.
