  • It's called "Colors" by an artist named Sarin.

  • What is the song that starts to play at the end?

  • By the way, the puppets are up for auction on eBay....just search "Amendment 49"

The auction ends on Oct 31st. HURRY BID NOW!!

  • "Sock it to me, I'm voting yes."

  • **crickets** **crickets**

I guess no one can answer xinthislifex??

  • Can any anti-49er tell me where in the ballot language does it say that unions and/or their members CANNOT give money to ANY organization they wish to? Show me where that is.

  • it says that the employer of public employees (the gov) cannot deduct money that will end up in the hands of politicians, in other words union dues. Because this money is often donated to candidates and used for lobbying it takes away unions' ABILITY to lobby on behalf of rank and file members. Pretending not to understand the system is a fallacious and deceptive way to get voters to pass a bill. To assume all bills enact word for word is ignorant of the reality of the semantic implications.

  • You still fail to answer the question. Who's voice is silenced by unions obtaining dues directly, rather than through the governmental payroll system? Nowhere in the language does it say anyone is prevented from giving to any group. The real question is, why, in the 21st century, do unions need FREE dues collection? Every other group on the planet gets their money directly from their members. In order to be consistent, would you also like to give the NRA free dues collection?

  • Great video. Great message. Unions just don't get the concept of voluntarism. Best part though may be the song at the end. Whoa!

  • Jon Caldara, your video has enraged the tinfoil-hat left! How dare you? Don't you know that hard-core lefties have no sense of humor? Don't you know that it's unpatriotic for union members to pay their bills the same way they pay their electric bills? RECKLESS!

  • Flawed comparison, when you don't pay union dues the union doesn't send your debt to a collections agency and you don't end up with bad credit that can inhibit your ability to find something as fundamental a necessity as A HOME! You don't pay your "bills" to corporations and what happens? Collections agencies and bad credit. If there were no ignorance among voters, neo-cons would never win anything.

  • When you don't pay union dues you lose your job. Or a union goon visits you at your home to "collect" what is rightfully his. Whether that will involve a baseball bat or two is strictly up to the goon's preference.

  • Jon Caldara, your sock-puppet routine is arrogant and condescending. This is an insult to voters! You must think we're stupid. 49 does nothing to keep the truly crooked lobbyists in line, and unions are not a 'special interest', much less do we want Fire Fighters not to have the right to lobby for the best equipment they need. Amendment 49 is unpatriotic, unscrupulous, reckless and negligent, and your sales pitch is insulting to the average voter's intellect. I'm voting NO on 47, 49 and 54!

  • thank you

  • This comment under me is the most absurd thing I have read in awhile. 49 does nothing to stop lobbyists. All it does is restrict the government from using its payroll system to collect dues for special interests, which include unions. That's it. Anyone can give any amount to any group they want, they just can no longer use the governmental payroll system to do it. Taxpayers should not foot the bill for special interest dues collection!

  • Unions are not a "special interest." That is not accurate political lingo. Neo-cons are calling them 'special interests' to confuse voters. 'Special interests' are groups that form around a single issue and they only function as long as the issue persists, unions can lobby and advocate around ANY issue whether it is regarding the workplace directly or not. Get your definitions straight.

  • Caldara lies! Unions are NOT "special interests." Lobbyists who are paid are mostly working for big business and 49 will only take away average people's right to lobby. He is trying to trick voters into giving up the fundamental right to lobby the government, while 49 does nothing about the worst of paid lobbyists - corporate lobbyists - the ones who foster corruption the most, like those supported by his "Independence" Institute!

  • Adorable! How about an entire series with the puppets? I'm thinking along the lines of Schoolhouse Rock but with the puppets (and random tie dye socks)...Statehouse Rock? The Boulder Liberal cracked me up!

  • The government, their employees and the lobbyist as--sock puppets. How apropos.

  • Very cute way to show what happens to your money. However, I haven't lived in Colorado for over two years. So could you please remove me from the list. Thank You

  • Truly great - great way to reach younger voters even though I recently turned 40.

  • Love it! I voted yes. Good show!

  • Very nice... especially like the tie dye at the end.
