I think this movie can be watched from the age of about 12/13, most kids that age can handle this. It's true that it might be too young for most to grasp some of the underlying themes of it, (society, when is one really a monster) but they can enjoy and relate to other aspects, like the loneliness and the being bullied of Oskar and the friendship between him and Eli.

Eli's caretaker is a pedopthile, but that is only hinted, and won't be brought up. What else, bullying? Lonelyness? Devorced parents? Dads who drink, all kids knows what alcohol is even though they don't have parents drinking, all of this is something they know from beforehand to some level. They see bullying from the victim's prespective, I think that's good nolage. :)

It's not a horror movie,but a psychological one...it's sentimental and it goes beyond the appearence. Eli is the epitome of the monster,but he's good and is able build a love relationship with Oskar.
Man kan inte ta den svenska versionen på allvar.. förutom tjejen, hon är grym skådis faktiskt. Men jag tycker rent personligt att Svenska filmer är riktigt fjantiga. Den amerikanska är väldigt bra, för den håller sig till den svenska filmen väldigt bra, men görs mycket coolare och påminner lite mer om boken i vissa delar. Jag gillar den svenska tjejen mer dock, den amerikanska ser för oskyldig ut medans den svenska ser mer psykskadad ut.

Movie is good. It is somewhat similar to "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer". There is some similarity in psychology of main characters and in impression they produce on a viewer. Books about homicide maniacs as main characters are not so rare but movies are; because most of those books are crappy and boring. This one is not.

You know, The Magnificent Seven is a good-mediocre western movie maybe, but its 1000 light-years far from Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai. This movie cannot be Americanized, thats 100% sure, its a Swedish story. The essence will vanish during the Americanization, and Im afraid the result will be a ridiculous replica, with cheesburgers.

Äsch, sluta klaga. Det är en helt okej filmatisering av en bra bok och Sveriges första riktiga skräckfilm. Den är estetisk och konstnärlig på ett sätt som inte alla fattar, men det behöver inte betyda att den är dålig.
Var glad att Sverige äntligen fått en ordentlig skräckgenre istället.
Det är långt ifrån den första, eller den bästa, iflmen var okej, men den gav mig ingenting, detgjorxde boken, dne fick mig att inse att det jag kommer begå ett stort misstag om jag inte börjar skriva själv, ajvide är briliant.
Men filmen funkar, fast det finns andra svesnak skräckfgilmer som är bättre, minns bara inte varom ja tänker på hette, tro en hette hembesök eller nåt sånt..

Sveriges ända skräckfilm seriösa är Besökarna från 80-talet med kjell bergkvist. Norge gör dock fett mycket bra skräckfilmer. Död Snö, Fritt Vild, Rovdyr, epic!
Jeg synes at dette er en veldig bra film. Tror ikke det er så mange som tar de barnselige kommentarene deres på alvor. "Sverige kan inte produktera bra filmer" - Neivell, da har du gått klipp av mye. Enda du er svensk. Hater at det har blitt slik at det er "inn" å hate film fra sitt eget land. Jeg anbefaler å se denne filmen hvis du vil ha noe annet en Twilight vampyrer, og er ute etter en bra filmopplevelse.
Var rätt spänd efter mottagandet och fina kritik den fått utomlans och var inte alls tråkig på något sätt, tvärtom. En vardagsskildring om en kille i en svensk förort som blir mobbad, inga direkta konstigheter. Det finns tyvärr en del transportsträckor av ett något bräckligt manus, men är rakt igenom fint fotograferad och de första 20 min fick man associationer på "Storm of the century". Bra spänning för de i yngre tonåren.

I saw the movie this night. I was truly astonished.
But why is it to be made a shot-by-shot remake of this film (as in "Let me in") ?
In english? Haven't they heard of 'subtitles'?
I bet it's going to be all.. Hollywood-ish, and nothing like this movie, with true sense of atmosphere and intensity.
But that's just my opinion.

@mariannekallekoedd Not just your opinion at all. Yesterday Ive seen the trailer of the Americanization of this movie(Let Me In, coming in October), it was shocking. You know, The Magnificent Seven is a good-mediocre western movie maybe, but its 1000 light-years far from Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai. This movie cannot be Americanized, thats 100% sure, its a Swedish story. The essence will vanish during the Americanization, and Im afraid the result will be a ridiculous replica, with cheesburgers.

The sinister vibe, and the atmosphere is gonna be totally gone, all the details that made the movie work exremely well with the book also is not gonna be there...does american people have hard time reading? i mean I am grown up with subtitles and I have not taken any damage so far;)

@telelaci2 ooh! harsh. i go to a skool in america with only one stereotypical american. the rest are a bunch anarchist/communist/hippies who take dumps in the woods and shower once a week at most. at school we talk about how america fucks shit up. look at the movie "oceans" twenty minutes or so were taken out to make it "child friendly". disnefied, pacified amerciafied. we also look at how america has no culture and it's just a melting pot of many put together to form a unstable environment.

One of the best movie Ive seen in the last years. I donno why, its so simple story, still very touching and fascinating. If you havent watched it yet, you missed a very special awesome film.

@maya06227 i am swedish and i've read the whole original book, and it clearly says ellie is a boy! and ellie says it himself to oscar in the book, they cut off his genitals, so he is a castrated boy... so I actually wonder if you even read the book!?!

Saw it on DVD just a couple of hours ago. Incredible and absolutely breathtaking. So simple and yet so powerful. A true masterpiece.

Äsch, sluta klaga. Det är en helt okej filmatisering av en bra bok och Sveriges första riktiga skräckfilm. Den är estetisk och konstnärlig på ett sätt som inte alla fattar, men det behöver inte betyda att den är dålig.
Var glad att Sverige äntligen fått en ordentlig skräckgenre istället.

Det är långt ifrån den första, eller den bästa, iflmen var okej, men den gav mig ingenting, detgjorxde boken, dne fick mig att inse att det jag kommer begå ett stort misstag om jag inte börjar skriva själv, ajvide är briliant.
Men filmen funkar, fast det finns andra svesnak skräckfgilmer som är bättre, minns bara inte varom ja tänker på hette, tro en hette hembesök eller nåt sånt..

@MandaOwl Denna film är inte skräck. Det finns ingenting läskigt över filmen, jag och min flickvän skrattade dock rejält över pojkens dåliga skådespel och retardröst xD.. haha.. Sveriges ända skräckfilm seriösa är Besökarna från 80-talet med kjell bergkvist. Norge gör dock fett mycket bra skräckfilmer. Död Snö, Fritt Vild, Rovdyr, epic!

Jeg synes at dette er en veldig bra film. Tror ikke det er så mange som tar de barnselige kommentarene deres på alvor. "Sverige kan inte produktera bra filmer" - Neivell, da har du gått klipp av mye. Enda du er svensk. Hater at det har blitt slik at det er "inn" å hate film fra sitt eget land. Jeg anbefaler å se denne filmen hvis du vil ha noe annet en Twilight vampyrer, og er ute etter en bra filmopplevelse.

Var rätt spänd efter mottagandet och fina kritik den fått utomlans och var inte alls tråkig på något sätt, tvärtom. En vardagsskildring om en kille i en svensk förort som blir mobbad, inga direkta konstigheter. Det finns tyvärr en del transportsträckor av ett något bräckligt manus, men är rakt igenom fint fotograferad och de första 20 min fick man associationer på "Storm of the century". Bra spänning för de i yngre tonåren.
