F9 key is the evaluate key. You can highlight any part of a formula and hit the F9 key to see what it evaluates to. This is particularly helpful when learning how to make a complicated formula. Be sure to undo so you don't hard code the evaluated formula part into the formula.
The F9 key can also be used to hard code a table into a VLOOKUP formula. See this video:
