in turkey, we use commas instead of full stop to make decimal numers. and when i put 1.95 or 1,95 i get January 95 in the cell. any suggestions?

  • hi man what ur doing is great

  • Thanks! I really needed a fresher course as I have not used Excel for several years, I start a new job that requires it, so thank you, this really helped.

  • Why is it that when I type in 1.95 on excel 2010 It gives me a date????

  • @tdgfan98 Hi. Press CTRL+A to select all the cells on the worksheet. On the right side of the Home toolbar click the dropdown menu next to 'Clear' and click Formats. That should fix the problem. In Excel 2003 'Clear' can be found on the Edit menu.

  • there is a common problem with Excel that drives me and many users insane, and whole forum threads are dedicated to this problem: The legendary auto formatting of numbers to dates. Do you know any trick how to turn that off? I tried everything from changing the type to text, to using Macros that where build for it specifically by frustrated users. Its hard to believe that Excel can't handle such a seemingly small and obvious problem. Thanks
