I bought her Album Runa Laila The Teenage Prodigy, (songs from movies) when I was in Fiji in 1979, but have not been able to play it for ages since my old record player broke on me and CDs came in. So, I'm searching for her music from the Album... Anyone have footage of those songs from that album, let me know. I'd love to hear it on CD or you tube.

Correct, she was born in 1952, she lived in Fed B area Karachi and we were learning music from our mutual ustad Qadir Bux ( Piya Rang Saheb) . I went to BD twice but could not contact her, can some one please help. Both Runa Laila and Shahnaz ( thanks to Sohail Rana Saheb) were groomed in Pakistan.

whatever has happened in 1971 with the people of East Pakistan (Bangladesh) was a big sazish by india and western powers, which was further handled badly by (West) Pakistan's Military-cum-Punjabi Establishment and feudal lords of that time.

okay okay there is a mistake here. Runa Laila was not born in Karachi! She was born in Sylhet, Bangladesh. Her family lived in Karachi federal B area because of her dad's job related reason.

Please also note that in the fifties when Runa was born that part of subcontinent was called East Pakistan. Therefore it is more correct to mention East Pakistan now Bangla Desh as her birth place. After all history can't be wiped out. Thank you.

Bangladesh in the 50s(atleast till 1955 when Runa Laila was born) was called East Bengal, not East Pakistan. The region was known as Bengal for thousands of years and East Bengal for 190(+7=197) years atleast. Just having the name East Pakistan for 15 years of its History changes nothing. Infact, the people felt at ease calling it East Bangal and in late 60s Bangladesh than East Pak
