i am dying some human hair extensions for the first time. they are an ashy blonde.  I am using a box black dye...so far the hair dosent seem to be taking the dye as much as it should. the hair seems like slick or coated or something. not as pourous as i would have expected. im using black! it should cover everything!

what is the deal? is there a specific kind of hair i need to get from the supply store if i know i want to dye it?
