HHHHHAAAAAAA!!!!!!! Look at the girl to the left in the last scene!!!! Remember those sweaters!!!!! Yuck-o!!!!! They were everywhere back then! Does anyone know where I can find a clip of the commercial for these same bars with the slogan "baby ruth and butter finger, fresh, guaranteed"!!!! I can hear the music in my head
around 1980 i recall there was a "baby ruth" commercial featuring the actor who played dietrich on "barney miller." he'd stand at a counter & deadpan, "that's the paradox of inflation, you pay more & get less," then add "on the other hand, baby ruth remains an excellent choice. you get more chewy, fudgy, nutty candy," etc. then at the end he'd flip a quarter to the guy behind the counter, who then said "thanks."
@minkaminka2 QUOTE: "In the 1980s, everyone thought AIDS was extremely contagious. People shunned their friends and just nass [sic] panic in general."
That's because initially, the govt told the public that it was extremely contagious and easy to contract from sneezes and coughs. It wasn't people that caused the panic, it was the information that we were told at the time.
@minkaminka2 And you shouldn't insult and then remove your comment. And you also shouldn't talk like you're an expert on the era and the norms, when you probably weren't even born or too young to know anything about it and experience it first hand.
@minkaminka2 And you kiddo, who is under the age of 28 hence you are NOT an expert on the 80s, are nothing but a smart ass kid who thinks they know it all because they read a book and want to insult people online. How typical for the generation AFTER Generation X! The beginning of the "entitlement" with "no respect" generations! How sad for you.
@minkaminka2 There ya go again, with the insults. And regarding my parents generation, they were the greatest generation of the 20th century, both lived through the Great Depression and WW2. As for reading books on the 80s, that makes you more informed than those of us who lived throught time, right? And I don't have to show shit to a insulting know it all attention needing little girl. I mean seriously, why the hell would you bring up AIDS opinions on a friggin chocolate bar video?
@minkaminka2 QUOTE: "Just becuase I disagree with you..."
And kiddo I , who turned 18 in 1985, am telling you that your opinion is WRONG, because I was there. You however, read it from some book. So please tell me WHY I should think your opinion is right because you read it in a book over mine who experienced it? Again, a know it all because you read a book......
boy BTW, it's the opposite today, Nestle, hershey Mars have all shrunk their bars. because people got too fat and greedy. anyone ever heard of moderation?
and as for buying them at regular price FUGEDDABOUTIT! it makes me cry when the same candy bar that cost in 1985 now costs 80 cents!
BTW at this time they were made by the Curtiss Candy Company a division of Standard Brands Corporation who made Planters Peanuts. At the same time Standard was in the process of being bought by Nabisco. Nestle bought the candies from Nabisco in 1990.
