you don't have to give me the details brother, i speak russian. Very different? What sounds very different? I've never had a TRUE russian misunderstand MY Russian. And majority of the people I've met in Kiev speak Russian. Russified Ukrainian or whatever you call it - doesn't make a difference. Even in a village 40 minutes away from Kiev, I hear russian. Yea, that doesn't conclude that Kievlyane SPEAK JUST Rus, but Majority DO.

Most villages close to Kyiv speak Ukrainian but will respond in Russian as well . Do you need a reason to speak Ukrainian?
