KeepingModern there are a few reasons why it's illegal today. Most of the reasons came from propaganda. One of the main reasons is through racism. Many jazz musicians smoked marijuana, back then jazz was music for African Americans. Greed is another factor. Since you can make many products from hemp at cheap prices, and pretty much anyone can grow it, there wasn't room for much profit to made off of it.
