How about posting a video of you typing on your iPhone? Here are the sentences that the Guinness Book of World Records' uses (or used to use) to judge texting speed, "The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human." I believe the record is 41 seconds (or it used to be).

What type of layout does the alpha grip use? i imagine it uses dvorak?

It uses what we call an Enhanced Qwerty letter layout which has about a 65% finger-letter correlation to the QWERTY keyboard. If you're a touch typist it allows you to seemlessly switch between typing on a Qwerty keyboard and an AlphaGrip (and back again) without a relearning lag time. Maximum typing speed on the current version of the AlphaGrip is probably 80 wpm. I average around 60 wpm.

Yes, it's just a rough prototype, but we are designing an AlphaGrip-enabled phone that will look like a slightly oversized smartphone (about 3.5" by 5") with a 5" screen (measured diagonally), 8 full- size multidirectional keys incorporated into the back surface, with a trackball and several 4-way buttons on the front surface which are revealed when the screen slides up.

The back surface houses eight multi-directional keys that enable the user to generate 20 characters, each with a single finger pressing a single key, and an additional 60 characters using three shift

buttons. A user can hold it comfortably and firmly while leaving his fingers free for typing and gaming. People who may want a version that folds in your pocket and unfolds for use are those who want desktop computer functionality while standing, walking, riding, reclining or sitting anywhere.

They have those. its called a folding keyboard. its made of a rubber outside and has the buttons sticking out my enlgish teacher had one.

A folding keyboard requires the user to go to a hard, flat, stationary surface to support the unfolded keyboard in order to text at a productive rate of speed. With a foldable AlphaGrip smartphone or handheld cradle for a smartphone you could text 50-70 wpm while standing, walking, sitting anywhere, leaning back in a recliner, riding in a vehicle, or lying in bed.

This video is just a proof of concept. It proves that texting at 50-70 wpm on a handheld device is possible. The idea is to design an AlphaGrip-enabled smartphone that would fit in your pocket when folded and would unfold for use.
