Since when has the federal government ever really lived up to it's responsibilities??? We need to realize that WE THE PEOPLE cannot depend on the money-hungry, blood-sucking, overpaid hypocrites the run this country. Our government (*with the exception of a select few) don't give a shit about the American people, unless of course it somehow profits them. Do what you can to help those in need, cuz we're all they've got. ---Peace.
The question isn't "when DID they", but "when did they stop" living up to their responsibility to serve the public interest? That date would be right around the time Nixon became President and the citizens were viewed as a "burden" that "stood in the way" of the Administrations' agenda.
If they treat their own fellow citizens this way it makes their statements to the rest of the word even more terrifying "we will do everything in our power to look after our interests. If it isn't in our interest, we wont do it." so much for altruism.
