The UAW simply does not want chapeter 11 restructuring as it will end their continued sucking of the life out of these companies. Reality is not enough was retained from UAW wages over time to pay for UAW benefits and the majority of members are retied. This government money will flow to the retirees, most of which are far better of than the average American citizen.

I understand career military families need decent housing and all that, but that is another issue. To me, the core issue here is about what is right and fair. A chapter 11 bankruptcy forces a second party to direct the reorganization of the company, in which they could dismiss the UAW.
