He's driving a right hand drive model, which was probably put together in Britain for their market. The way those gaps appear absolutely do not occur in the north American version. I'm on my second lightning and it's fantastic. I also have a new XKR which is great, the build quality on it is fabulous, likely because ford took it over from who ever owned it when they built the 91 XJS I have that falls apart when you breath on it lol
Jeremy's right about the Lightning being rubbish. That's why I got me a Dakota R/T. Doesn't have the power of the Ford, but the 5.9L Magnum has enough torque to disassemble the Titanic, and in a comparison test the R/T was said to be quicker in a slalom and more enjoyable on mountain roads. The Dakota also has the advantage of NOT appearing in a Fast & Furious movie!
The reason for the play in the steering, by the way, is for stability while towing. Touchy steering can upset your trailer.

But if your Ram is also mostly stock, then it's over. They have the same engine and one weighs a grand less. I've never driven a Ram SS/T, or even seen one "in the wild" for that matter, but they're cool trucks and I wouldn't mine having one. But for the love of Chrysler, don't leave it stock!

@nyunn2 The Silverado SS did NOT run a Corvette motor, it ran an LQ9 which was a HO version of the Vortec 6.0L V8 truck motor. While they shared similarities, the biggest difference is that the LQ9 had a cast iron block whereas the LS2 was an all-aluminum unit.
As for the SSR, the initial 5.3L models were slow as shit, and even after GM replaced the 5300 with the LS2, the truck was still hampered by the weight of it's folding hardtop. A Lighting would dust both of them.

I own a 96 dodge 2500 with a 12V Cummins....It does anything i task it to do, its pretty damn comfy for long trips(used to pull 500 miles on it every weekend for 3 years), aaand now it has a banks turbo system.....So it is indeed, faster than a lightning.
In the long run a lightning would overtake the cummins if it was geared stock(mine is, its a farm truck, nothing more).
But if we talk about in the long run I wouldn't drive the dodge now would i?
My old 04 GTI STOCK will out pace the lighting if given about a mile, you might get it off the line, but I'll eventually end up passing you.....gearing is better, lightning tops out at what,142ish?

I saw one "real" truck in Germany when I was there it was parked in back of some ones house. No sure if it ever moved... But damn the roads are so very small in towns & even in the coutry side. Smart cars even have to pull aside to let others og by. It's insane I would lose my mind stopping every 10 second to let someone og by. I'm sure it also sucks your gas down even quicker doingd this. My Ford does well on gas for long hauls, but not so good in town...

This guy is stupid! First of all, its the Ford F-150 Lightning made by SVT (Special Vehicles Team) and of course it can't go off road because its a STREET TRUCK! If he refers to the REAL F-150, that, can do all of the above but with a non-supercharged 300HBP engine.

@Nickk97tml Really the Silverado SS and Intimidator SS with a 6.0 liter V8 engine the 1990 Chevrolet C/K 454 SS with a 7.4 V8 engine and if we are talking GM altogether GMC made the Sierra Denali also with a 6.0 and the GMC Syclone with a 4.3 V6 Turbocharged engine that is still known as the second fastest production truck behind the Dodge Ram SRT-10. Do your math before your start shit about Chevy and by the way ford Sucks only good cars are the lightning, Cobra, and Ford GT.

@nyunn2 The Silverado SS did NOT run a Corvette motor, it ran an LQ9 which was a HO version of the Vortec 6.0L V8 truck motor. While they shared similarities, the biggest difference is that the LQ9 had a cast iron block whereas the LS2 was an all-aluminum unit.
As for the SSR, the initial 5.3L models were slow as shit, and even after GM replaced the 5300 with the LS2, the truck was still hampered by the weight of it's folding hardtop. A Lighting would dust both of them.

@97bluenuts I was not arguing that but the SS just an overall better truck also the SS does not have a supercharger and is much heavier than the lightning if u want to play it that way the GMC Syclone/Typhoon will beat the lightning and it only has a 4.3 V6 turbocharged engine and came out in the early 90's. Also GM has way nicer trucks what would you rather own a new Ford or A Silverado/Sierra.

I own a 96 dodge 2500 with a 12V Cummins....It does anything i task it to do, its pretty damn comfy for long trips(used to pull 500 miles on it every weekend for 3 years), aaand now it has a banks turbo system.....So it is indeed, faster than a lightning.

Drag strip says otherwise, granted drag strips aren't everything.
In the long run a lightning would overtake the cummins if it was geared stock(mine is, its a farm truck, nothing more).
But if we talk about in the long run I wouldn't drive the dodge now would i?
My old 04 GTI STOCK will out pace the lighting if given about a mile, you might get it off the line, but I'll eventually end up passing you.....gearing is better, lightning tops out at what,142ish?

The boxter is absolute crap in straight line performance! A 5.4 supercharged V8 pick up truck (that is not even that large for a pick up truck) that outruns a naturally aspirated 2.5 litre boxter is not impressive by any standards. Only an american would think that's amazing.
