Brilliant! Stirring! Perfect in tempo and intonation! This alternation of forte and piano – great! I really cried!!! I’m singing in the Berlin Bach Choir, for me it’s the best interpretation of “Herr, unser Herrscher”.
Beautiful recording at a perfect tempo, not too rushed, not too ponderous. The passages where the sixteenths move to the bass are magnificent; Rilling gets the momentum and turmoil just right. You really did a great job on the montage too. Five stars!
@ProtoMuffin Agree, there are so many terrible recordings on Youtube this one stand out. I do like the Harnoncourt interpretation, but the recording quality on here does not do it justice at all.
@rosovavoda The tempo isn't right (although I do like this version don't get me wrong). If to be accurate in a historico-musical perspective it should be played much slower.
Yet another glorious Helmut Rilling recording of J.S. Bach. It does great justice to the "most stupendous miracle in all music."

I think it must be bit slower.
