Power themodynamics is a little difficult the 2H2 O2 burn is apparently the most powerful and energetic of all "chemical" reactions. (elemental chemical bonding in nature) This is rocket fuel, but pretty dangerous and can cause explosion. H2 is the "leakiest" gas. Water (H2O) is the best of all piston pusher gases when heated. As a civilization we have purposefully negated that. Was the steam engine bad, or more likely was it quashed because it can recycle most of the heat used to power it?

bananax5000 - because people aren't aware of the reality. Why isn't this on the front page of every newspaper? MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY ......................
Maybe because this was produced in 1978. Do you think petrolium engineers don't know what hydrogen is? Gasoline is explosive, but hydrogen, holy crap; you want to see disaster films, just wait till people are driving around with liquid hydrogen in their tanks. This will be steven speilbergs wet dream.
Water vapor is one of the most powerful green house gases there is. Is every car put out steam, it would be far worse than the CO2 that cars put out now.
Limited to plugging electric car in overnight is a lie told to people. You would change the whole infrastructure and have battery stations instead of gas stations. These stations would have car-wash style tracks you drive up to, with universal batteries charged in a warehouse. Robotic arms would hotswap the batteries.
As for clean electric, a single large solar plant in Nevada, and a single large wind gen plant in the windy plains could each power the whole country alone.
Try to calculate the number of batteries needed for just the US passenger cars, then the amount of lead and other metals needed to make those batteries. There's just not that much lead around at prices anyone except rich Jack could afford.
You said LEAD but what about NiMH? Whats the big cost of alt energy techs vs what we give oil corps&arabs all inclusively each decade? "NiMH batteries typically last the life of the vehicle. Toyota Prius vehicles can go over 190,000 mi without needing a battery replacement.
Good point, but the same applies. NiMH batteries are made of metals that would be in short supply if they were in millions of vehicles. The price would skyrocket. Look what has happened to the price of corn after we started using it to stretch gasoline. The price of corn went up and the price of food to the very poor rises, too.
So what happened with this?!?!?! Death threats? Payola? This is so real and easy to implement that there are only two possible reasons we aren't ALL driving these things and fuelling up at home or at Hydrogen fuel stations at 50 cents a gallon!!!!
One other reason: It doesn't really work for the large numbers of cars we have in the US, or even a small fraction. It willonly work for a few hobbyists and rich movie stars.
Excuse my ignorance but can you email me a copy of this video before it is CUT OFF for being too good! This needs to be shown to ALL OF NORTH AMERICA - at least. I intend to email it to as many people as possible.
Thanks
I thought about this technology - the solar electrolysis of water - years ago. Just found this video now. Amazing but VERY VERY VERY sad that this has been BURIED by TOO-POWERFUL assholes!
1978!!!! I can't believe this! The USA is so fucked up. We are so far behind in terms of technology. We are so far behind in terms of eco friendly solutions. We are a type 0 civilization and until we have a leader who can change the world to type 1 or 2 we will never accomplish pure success.
Came on people! They don´t make Hydrogen-cars they all are Prototypes or Concepts cars.
Cars companys don´t like Hydrogen or Electric cars. Tesla have made one, you say GM or Ford with billions-dolars in Research can don´t do it. They don´t want to.
The first vehicle made by porsche in 1900 something was electric. Then the oil boys moved in. Fucking pests. I would tie them with their mouth from the exhoust pipe of their fucking cars.
Fucking retards! Its not 'laziness" and Jack is not fighting against global warming! There have always been workable alternatives. The problem is the MAFIA of the Corporate world from banks, oil companies and government. Do you think they want you to have anything free? how the fuck are they gonna control you then?
They have to print the money and keep shit coming that you "the citizen" must pay for. And in doing so break your back for a slave's wages.
People like you ignore the fact that OIL companies have funded extensive research in eletric cars. That's right, NESTE Oil funded and produced the best eletric cars of the 80s, but the lack of good batteries didn't make them a good seller. They're still producing the electric cars (Actually a van), and they were used by the post system quite much too.
Its just laziness that we haven't yet found a renewable fuel source. Jack Nicholson was thirty years ahead of his time, so I'm guessing its going to take another thirty years before the government actually does something.
...The Sun IS the answer to all of our energy problems. Whether you convert it to battery or hydrogen(theres countless of elements it can be transformed into)solar power can heat-cool the house;run the car;and light up a city. BUt how do you control it? See, they can't. And thats why it isn't encouraged. Its one of those things that the public has to do on its own. Dont be surprised if it happens soon. there may be mysterious deaths surrounding it. but thats the risk to getting it.
It is known that the hydrogen fuel cell works, but diatomic hydrogen (H2) is not generally available. It can be made (hydrolyzed), but that requires more energy than is returned by the fuel cell. It is, therefore, a net energy loss. If you are a millionaire like Jack, than you can spend tens of thousands of dollars to buy solar cells and produce your own hydrogen gas. Otherwise, no luck. So science needs to develop a catalyst to reduce the amount of energy required to produce H2 from water.
Actually, it was a scam. It was a diversion to stop us from developing sound electric vehicles that are not dependent on a central corporation to deliver energy to us.
I hope to God we run out of oil. Then we'll HAVE to use that available technology. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. We have several oceans full of hydrogen resource. Don't wait for the "experts" to come to our rescue. Ordinary people should work on their own solutions.
The problems with hydrogen fuel for automobiles are manifold. Hydrogen fuel at normal pressures do not provide enough BTUs for the space that the tanks take up, but thsi problem may be corrected by putting the gas at very high pressures in the tanks.
Having highly pressurized hydrogen gas in a car is a terrible safety hazard which will result in at some point having an accident where all that will be left after a collision will be ashes of the passengers and fragments of the cars.
unbelievable - this technology has been available for decades and yet because oil companies supress the technology through patents and bribes nothing has happened. People wake up and take to the streets - demand an alternative to oil!
they havent been dicking around like you say they've been suppressed,,listen even if you had electric cars..how do you make enough electric to charge that many cars and houses ..well you do it by burning fossil fuels ..so in short what have you gained..you see hydrogen is 90 percent of the universe,s weight...yes the UNIVERSE, and when you burn hydrogen its only by product is water..right you could make a close loop energy system ..water to hydro back to water
And where does the hydrogen come from? Seperating it from oxygen? Well that takes energy as well. Either way the problem is the source energy not hydrogen or electricity, we could solve both problems by using solar power and then would you use that energy to later make hydrogen, or would you just use the electrical energy you make and put it into your car?
Ok,I see what your getting at.I think you know that hydrogen does'nt come from oxygen (mistype)..I think with as many hydrocarbon burning uses out there that hydrogen is very important and should be in the fore front it produces alot of clean energy.and it can be produced alot cheaper than electric and can be made from chemical reaction but if you like electric cars over hydro cars /..why not It still is better than hydrocarbons..And I can make electricity with hydrogen...lol
hydrogen is in almost everything in this world and universe so you could get it out of more than water although H2O is two hydrogen and one oxygen....nice ratio ...and easy to separate.. your right my bad..have a good one
I wish we could, but recently I've heard that America has become extremely dependent on oil, so much in fact, that it would be nearly impossible to boycott oil all together and still keep America running...but I also see a problem in the American public..people complain a lot, but don't really DO anything about it..I just hope we can find a solution before the ridiculous gas prices become far too much to bear..
35cents a gallon, half the coast of a gallon of gas? This video was made before Bush was in office when it was a buck a gallon. So what happen to this idea?
It is ashame the tech was available 30 years ago! If we ran with it then, imagine where it be now. It probally is developed in some goverment think tank somewhere. Big oil and its money is keeping it suppressed. Its time for us PEOPLE to take this country back! Take action in anyway you can to get heard! Enough is enough on this issue of Rising Gas prices for no reason. The time is here now for action. Not words only anymore. Do something, Get heard! Don't sit back and do nothing!!
you are obsolutely right man. Fucking government rubbing sholder with oil companise and because of that we don't have anything but gas. i mean we live in 2008 and still we got shit, driving on dinosors and plants. I saw another show some one said it will take another 20 to get hydrogen to market.
haha! I just came here from that video! ( A test drive of BMW's Hydrogen7 car watch?v=N675mHss_uQ )
Yes, I agree. That this technology should have been stalled for 30 years is just outrageous. How much have the oil companies gouged from us in the mean time? How many lives have been taken? How many families left mourning? 35c/gallon, they said!!
This technology has been suppressed, surely. That's what the lobbyists get paid so much money for, I suppose. BTW, Obama AND McCain take Big Oil money.
This technology was used by Roy McAlister fifty years ago. His first conversion was a Ford flat head engine over fifty years ago. He now has a pickup truck and a Chevy Geo that he has been driving for eighteen years and has NOT purchased any gasoline for his vehicles to run on.
What is so hard to understand... They have us cornered and they know it... There are no moral or in this case environmental requirements ... just profits. That's why we have a lot of cool things
Infinite Mushroom, you are right. Alot of kids think Reagan was a great President but they fail to understand the history of economic policies and businesses that he represented. America was probably raped the most under Reagan/Bush...but all we hear is bullshit about how he defeated communism...but not corporate communism like allowing monopolies and subsidies.
Jack Nicholson is probably one of the coolest actors on earth. Not only a good actor but still an active human being in helping make this a better world. Thanks for the efforts Jack in alternative fuels. We need more voices like yours pushing these technologies.
OBVIOUS and if it's not, You are BLIND and Exactly the little drone they want, soon there will be a t ax on walking or breathing.
When will it stop?
Do you think anyone really cares about the earth in congress, in 50 years they have taken almost no steps what so ever in actually fixing something, they are still learning? We can see what must be done, why do we al lsit here doing nothing? hello?
Wake the hell up people, Rich is ruining Earth, GREEEEEEEEED!
Until that changes we are heading toward Death and Ruining Earth, GO BUSH, (worst presidents to date, both of them)
Forced gm to destroy electrical car research after they worked and went 300 miles almost on one charge, We all Must Change Congress, All of congress must be fired, IMMEDIALTY, actually, 20 years ago, Congress Is OWNED, and We mean nothing and so do our votes, votes end up useless when the politicians sell thier soul for a dollar.
This is 30 years ago & civilian! You can be sure the military had much better versions even back then! So imagine what they can REALLY DO today! Solar technology has been suppressed AND developed! They've been milking the cattle/sheeple for decades (if not centuries) & seriously polluting the planet in the process! Energy should be basically FREE barring set-up costs!
Just shows how much effort the corporates have put into suppressing solar energy technology!
I remember when Jimmy Carter was pushing comprehensive and realistic programs for hydrogen, solar, wind, and other alternative power sources. Much of it was in place by 1980. When Reagan and the Supply Siders came to power, every single energy conservation and alternative energy program was scrapped! Instead, we got runaway corporate mergers, deregulation of the oil companies, deindustrialization, and the first of many cannibalistic economic bubbles designed to rape the American debt-serfs.
Her accent is from the East Coast of Canada, buddy. She don't sound funny if you're from Newfoundland and Labrador, or Nova Scotia, or New Brunswick, or from Prince Edward Island.
For all the people that say electic cars wont work or will make more emissions is wrong.
Lets see, oil companies have to find oil, then drill for it(using energy here), transport the oil to a refinery(using energy), refine the oil,(using more energy),transport refined gas to sell(even more energy),so the electric plugged in overnight at the lowest energy consumption time and powerplants could be new clean energy.
Electrics could be 300 miles per charge by now and look the same as your car today
Ten years ago, GM came out with the EV-1 and I got a chance to test drive it at Disney's EPCOT theme park. The whole car was a masterpiece of engineering and it was all off-the-shelf technology. The EV-1 was only available for lease in selected states, Arizona and California if I remember correctly. Everybody who leased an EV-1 wanted to buy it and see it put into production. GM mysteriously took the cars after the lease was up and destroyed them and the tooling so they couldn't be built again.
The oil companies are killing every new idea, now with gas so high it will be harder for them to keep there agenda.
We could of had so much done already if the oil companies did not kill everything.
The fact that Bush/Andy Card killed the electric car in Cal sucks to,if the entire U. S. could have been able to purchase a electric car, if you wanted to,but no, they killed that and crushed all ev1 and others so public would never see them just as recent as 2004-5.
There is a large remote controled car now that runs on water/hydrogen. The engine runs on water. Will we ever see that in a real car? Why not? They've done it. Most will never know probably.
We can Thanks Greed and Corruption.. Oh and Welcome to America where Ideas place 2nd and Bullshit rulez! Its not what you do, its all on how well you play the greed game! Big Oil and Big Corrupt Government rulez all and allows us to no think for ourselves! Maybe the Chinese will do it better!
classic stuff, the only reason we have not been moving to this sort of stuff is because the oil companies have not wanted us to. they have been making heaps of money by using old technology. the worst thing about money is that we do not advance as much as we should have because of greed. (if things had gone right for the human race the industrial revolution would have been around 400bc and by 200bc we would have landed on the moon but the pharos and others...
hi how are you if you could contact jack i invented a hydrogen device that runs a car on on demand not storing hydrogyn my only interest is to save the invironment not money..if your out there listining Jack i would like to chat and make this the next revaLOUTION.. THANKS Richard
1978? Wow! I wonder what Mr. Nicholson is up do lately? I live in Nevada and we have enough land area suitable for windmills that we could power everything plus all vehicles for Nevada and a couple of other states around us.
well the US sent troops and money to corrupt regimes in the middle east to prevent people like jack driving hydrogen fueled cars, so everyone can drive on petrol.
what could be.

Water vapor is one of the most powerful green house gases there is. Is every car put out steam, it would be far worse than the CO2 that cars put out now.
Stuka87 2 years ago
Limited to plugging electric car in overnight is a lie told to people. You would change the whole infrastructure and have battery stations instead of gas stations. These stations would have car-wash style tracks you drive up to, with universal batteries charged in a warehouse. Robotic arms would hotswap the batteries.
As for clean electric, a single large solar plant in Nevada, and a single large wind gen plant in the windy plains could each power the whole country alone.
elvnmagi 2 years ago
Try to calculate the number of batteries needed for just the US passenger cars, then the amount of lead and other metals needed to make those batteries. There's just not that much lead around at prices anyone except rich Jack could afford.
MetGuy9966 2 years ago
You said LEAD but what about NiMH? Whats the big cost of alt energy techs vs what we give oil corps&arabs all inclusively each decade? "NiMH batteries typically last the life of the vehicle. Toyota Prius vehicles can go over 190,000 mi without needing a battery replacement.
elvnmagi 2 years ago
Good point, but the same applies. NiMH batteries are made of metals that would be in short supply if they were in millions of vehicles. The price would skyrocket. Look what has happened to the price of corn after we started using it to stretch gasoline. The price of corn went up and the price of food to the very poor rises, too.
MetGuy9966 2 years ago
So what happened with this?!?!?! Death threats? Payola? This is so real and easy to implement that there are only two possible reasons we aren't ALL driving these things and fuelling up at home or at Hydrogen fuel stations at 50 cents a gallon!!!!
gtatix 2 years ago
One other reason: It doesn't really work for the large numbers of cars we have in the US, or even a small fraction. It willonly work for a few hobbyists and rich movie stars.

Excuse my ignorance but can you email me a copy of this video before it is CUT OFF for being too good! This needs to be shown to ALL OF NORTH AMERICA - at least. I intend to email it to as many people as possible.
Thanks

The first vehicle made by porsche in 1900 something was electric. Then the oil boys moved in. Fucking pests. I would tie them with their mouth from the exhoust pipe of their fucking cars.

Fucking retards! Its not 'laziness" and Jack is not fighting against global warming! There have always been workable alternatives. The problem is the MAFIA of the Corporate world from banks, oil companies and government. Do you think they want you to have anything free? how the fuck are they gonna control you then?
They have to print the money and keep shit coming that you "the citizen" must pay for. And in doing so break your back for a slave's wages.
mareleblond98 3 years ago 4
People like you ignore the fact that OIL companies have funded extensive research in eletric cars. That's right, NESTE Oil funded and produced the best eletric cars of the 80s, but the lack of good batteries didn't make them a good seller. They're still producing the electric cars (Actually a van), and they were used by the post system quite much too.

Its just laziness that we haven't yet found a renewable fuel source. Jack Nicholson was thirty years ahead of his time, so I'm guessing its going to take another thirty years before the government actually does something.
SweetEmotion987 3 years ago 6
...The Sun IS the answer to all of our energy problems. Whether you convert it to battery or hydrogen(theres countless of elements it can be transformed into)solar power can heat-cool the house;run the car;and light up a city. BUt how do you control it? See, they can't. And thats why it isn't encouraged. Its one of those things that the public has to do on its own. Dont be surprised if it happens soon. there may be mysterious deaths surrounding it. but thats the risk to getting it.

niswel 3 years ago 4
It is known that the hydrogen fuel cell works, but diatomic hydrogen (H2) is not generally available. It can be made (hydrolyzed), but that requires more energy than is returned by the fuel cell. It is, therefore, a net energy loss. If you are a millionaire like Jack, than you can spend tens of thousands of dollars to buy solar cells and produce your own hydrogen gas. Otherwise, no luck. So science needs to develop a catalyst to reduce the amount of energy required to produce H2 from water.
bmikesci 3 years ago
well at least someone back then was trying to make an attempt to find another fuel source
pamula1985 3 years ago 2
Actually, it was a scam. It was a diversion to stop us from developing sound electric vehicles that are not dependent on a central corporation to deliver energy to us.
humanpower 3 years ago
I hope to God we run out of oil. Then we'll HAVE to use that available technology. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. We have several oceans full of hydrogen resource. Don't wait for the "experts" to come to our rescue. Ordinary people should work on their own solutions.
eandatoo 3 years ago 5
Hydrogen takes a lot of energy to isolate.
monapark 3 years ago
The amount of energy that can be gleaned from solar energy via "panels" today is almost 50x that of 1978.
And with Nano Solar Technology able to nano engineer spray on Solar "panels" in a paint form, our arguments against are moot.
With a Rubippy catalyst AND Nano Solar enhanced Spray on application. The amount of Energy in kJ per sec is almost quadrupled.
So 475 kJ of Solar energy from he Sun can output 410kJ of Energy for Hydrogen conversion of H2O.
Nuff Said.
Runepriest442 3 years ago 19
The problems with hydrogen fuel for automobiles are manifold. Hydrogen fuel at normal pressures do not provide enough BTUs for the space that the tanks take up, but thsi problem may be corrected by putting the gas at very high pressures in the tanks.
Having highly pressurized hydrogen gas in a car is a terrible safety hazard which will result in at some point having an accident where all that will be left after a collision will be ashes of the passengers and fragments of the cars.

Where are the 100% electric cars???
TwoOpposableThumbsUp 3 years ago
see teslamotors com
s3xySpnky 3 years ago
they havent been dicking around like you say they've been suppressed,,listen even if you had electric cars..how do you make enough electric to charge that many cars and houses ..well you do it by burning fossil fuels ..so in short what have you gained..you see hydrogen is 90 percent of the universe,s weight...yes the UNIVERSE, and when you burn hydrogen its only by product is water..right you could make a close loop energy system ..water to hydro back to water
frostbitewinterwind 3 years ago
And where does the hydrogen come from? Seperating it from oxygen? Well that takes energy as well. Either way the problem is the source energy not hydrogen or electricity, we could solve both problems by using solar power and then would you use that energy to later make hydrogen, or would you just use the electrical energy you make and put it into your car?
ToxicEuth 3 years ago
Ok,I see what your getting at.I think you know that hydrogen does'nt come from oxygen (mistype)..I think with as many hydrocarbon burning uses out there that hydrogen is very important and should be in the fore front it produces alot of clean energy.and it can be produced alot cheaper than electric and can be made from chemical reaction but if you like electric cars over hydro cars /..why not It still is better than hydrocarbons..And I can make electricity with hydrogen...lol
frostbitewinterwind 3 years ago
hydrogen is in almost everything in this world and universe so you could get it out of more than water although H2O is two hydrogen and one oxygen....nice ratio ...and easy to separate.. your right my bad..have a good one

RomasaleenA59 3 years ago
I wish we could, but recently I've heard that America has become extremely dependent on oil, so much in fact, that it would be nearly impossible to boycott oil all together and still keep America running...but I also see a problem in the American public..people complain a lot, but don't really DO anything about it..I just hope we can find a solution before the ridiculous gas prices become far too much to bear..

BTW, Obama AND McCain take Big Oil money.
lastnymleft 3 years ago
This technology was used by Roy McAlister fifty years ago. His first conversion was a Ford flat head engine over fifty years ago. He now has a pickup truck and a Chevy Geo that he has been driving for eighteen years and has NOT purchased any gasoline for his vehicles to run on.

JACK23352335 3 years ago
Ten years ago, GM came out with the EV-1 and I got a chance to test drive it at Disney's EPCOT theme park. The whole car was a masterpiece of engineering and it was all off-the-shelf technology. The EV-1 was only available for lease in selected states, Arizona and California if I remember correctly. Everybody who leased an EV-1 wanted to buy it and see it put into production. GM mysteriously took the cars after the lease was up and destroyed them and the tooling so they couldn't be built again.

We could of had so much done already if the oil companies did not kill everything.
The fact that Bush/Andy Card killed the electric car in Cal sucks to,if the entire U. S. could have been able to purchase a electric car, if you wanted to,but no, they killed that and crushed all ev1 and others so public would never see them just as recent as 2004-5.

classic stuff, the only reason we have not been moving to this sort of stuff is because the oil companies have not wanted us to. they have been making heaps of money by using old technology. the worst thing about money is that we do not advance as much as we should have because of greed.
