  • 2:04 , gavin has bed head... love this song.

  • Fuck me to Punish Me? ......Sounds good to me Steven

  • Steven is usually the one making me melt, but Gavin is so damn amazing and a hell of a MAN!

  • porcupine tree have been going on longer than tool anyway, i also doubt someone as talented as steven wilson would purposefully rip another band off

  • Some parts of this song sound like Tool...but with about 20 times more talent.

  • @17primemover yea I definitely agree, the song Flood by Tool at about 4:30 in, almost the exact same riff. but I also agree with @MusicIzTheAnswer that Steven Wilson is far too creative to rip someone off

  • @Kezia04 I agree with the "Flood"-like riff. Although Flood is in 13/8, and I believe this is 7/8. Either way, both excellent songs.

  • Dear God, I am so mesmerized by Steven. It sounds so damn corny but I am in Love with everything about him, his mind is intoxicating

  • could you upload this in hd? This would be awesome!

  • fuck anyone who says "240p we meet again"...this song is so good to be fucked up to be screw with that shit

  • @mkiiiishuge so good to be fucked up with that shit*

  • What kind of friend doesn´t like porcupine tree?

  • love the way the band use different time signatures such as 7/4.9/4. shows creativity and experssion

  • Steven melts me

  • 4:13

Quick summary of epicness in song.

  • I always think he says "Fuck me to punish me" at 0:58

  • @jaminlikesdrums ...does he not?

  • @Mantooth901 Nope. Read the lyrics online. It's "What need to punish me ...?"

  • @jaminlikesdrums Oh dang he says "What need" hahaha

  • Honestly, seeing bands pay homage to Tool in a way like this just assures Tool's influence to me. Its a great honor, showing that they have definitely left a very large mark on music. Look at all the bands that pay tribute to Led Zeplin or Pink Floyd by doing what Porcupine Tree has done.

  • depends on their intentions if they are trying to be original and it sounds similar than Tool than big deal. i am sick of lawsuits and accusations making artists afraid to be creative. there are only so many chords and notes to play

  • Yes, the riff is very similar, but Porcupine tree are about as far from rip off artists as it gets!

  • SW is a self-confessed Tool fan, so any imitation is an homage.

  • i love tool don't get me wrong but don't you motherfuckers insult porcupine tree of being ripoff artists

  • @mariusel666 True that man!! Long live Porcupine tree

  • Fucking hell - intro to this song is a Tool ripoff. 'Flood' by Tool, at 4 minutes in, is the original to this riff.

  • @melliemichelle1 care.

  • @MrsChadam Care because it's a ripoff. I'd be more inclined to have respect for this group if they came up with their own, not 'borrowed' almost note for note from someone else.

  • @melliemichelle1

I would've guessed the riff was a rip off of Tool's "Part of Me," but that works too...

  • @melliemichelle1 its not a ripoff, its a nod

  • from which album is this?

  • @fadaboey arriving somewhere

  • groovy.

  • Singing in one tempo and playing licks in another... master performance by PT.

  • ONE asslick dislikes..... probably looking for a Justin Beiber video!

  • @usmcsdi69 Beiber jokes are like Chuck norris jokes now...they were funny once..and only once

  • Anyone who likes this song should check riverside's latest albums- pretty much similar..

  • @stubbscoil it is a kick ass album by the way the album released or still that 3 tracks ?

  • Monster Drummer, great Job Gavin. We both had mothers that would let us play all day, loud and just say "sounded good" parent's children great thing can happen.

  • reminds me part of me of tool :\

  • @AdMDrumz

man i agree the riff is a lot similar to tool's song but dont forget it isnt the main riff that makes the whole song..what about the drums the vocals the lyrics?..

  • A recording does exist, and also appears on their Arriving Somewhere... DVD/CD, but I don't know if there's a studio recording of the song (maybe that's the version in the Deadwing LP, I don't know).

  • @nitarbell In Lazarus single appears Lazarus, So called Friend and Half Light and is studio recording.

Please Guys stop comparing Porcupine Tree they have their own sound

  • um.... this is the bonus track on deadwing... i know a recording of this exists...

  • Their from sparta!

  • wait, no recording of this song exists? lol I know I have a live recording from arriving somewhere... I'm just now really dissecting Porcupine Tree. First song I heard was Radioactive Toy, then Start of Something Beautiful... and it just progressed from there, I've been an addict ever since. In Absentia is my fav but I like ANYTHING Steven Wilson has even been a part of. Everything he touches is gold. I'm seriously in love.

  • 78 of the veiws are probably me.

  • @muntificator or me...xD

  • Gavin at 3:04 - 4:00 melts me with those cymbals/chimes

  • what kind friend are you...? that's the question...

  • I think that with this song, I've listened to their whole discography (including unreleased material).

  • @nitarbell

    Not quite there yet but almost there. I'm getting sentimental ;_;

  • @Ambulanceo

Actually, when I think of it, I haven't listened to Metanoia yet, but that's it.

  • Comment removed

  • @nitarbell Including Cryogenics? If so, colour me impressed.

  • @LMA0NAISE

    ...

    FFFUUU-

But no recording of that song exists, at least according to Steven.

  • @nitarbell Actually, a recording of "So Called Friend" was released on the 2005 "Lazarus" single (in Germany and Poland only).

  • amazing song! 5 stars!

  • Amazing song Just love it It is from ''Arriving somewhere but not here'' DVD
