  • Ruttman's avant garde film is the predecessor to Walt's "Fantasia".

  • The point of this film, was to experiment with the connection between music and visual arts. By muting this music or what not, you are not getting the full effect that the artist who created this video intended you do get. Ruttman was experimenting with sound AND video.

  • Where did you rip this from? Do you know who composed the soundtrack? Thanks.

  • @abyadb The composer is shown at the end of the film.

  • thanks...its great

  • Studied this briefly in class today, interesting visuals (especially or it's time). Great to have a reference point on here to watch it again, cheers for uploading.

  • Thanks so much for the upload. This stuff is hard to come by! I couldn't find it at the library, so thanks for keeping the early work of Walter Ruttman alive.

  • the visuals are great, on a tricktable... ver cool! but the sound sucks a bit, its like the sound of a silent movie and not really experimental like the pictures are. It just keeps not up with them...

  • @dewnn This was from the time of silent movies. That is why the sound is reminiscent of that time period.

  • Amazing rhythm. Considering the making year, I didn't expect it to be so varied. Try muting it and putting some experimental electronic music playing. Works like a charm.

  • thanks for putting this here

  • really beautiful.
