You did an awesome job- And i can tell, just from watching, that you COULD do "better", if you wanted to. ..Makes me want to practice it! I bought the Van Halen II songbook just for THIS!
Damn good. One of the best versions on Youtube. I think the time is a wee bit off. I intend this constructively. Something that can easily be remedied.
@efzt Thank you! Indeed, it is off. As I replied to someone else earlier, this isn't my best effort, but for some reason it's the one getting all the hits. Urgh.
@charliedrummer7 I agree, it's not as good as it could be. I have a couple of other versions up that, while still not great, are better than this one. Check those out.
@dunavidrava I appreciate that, but it is pretty difficult for me to listen to this version now that I have some slightly better ones up. It's a pity that this one gets all the hits. In any case, thanks for the kind words!
@WallSpace Yes, since it's the strongest finger on my right hand. Eddie taps with the index finger as well (usually), but he also usually holds the pick between his thumb and middle finger. I can't do that, so I move the pick around as necessary.
I'm almost on the same level (ITS UNDER 9000!!!!) and i've been playing for three years: I feel special! By the way, thanks for the lesson on tap harmonics : D
@DImebagDarrell12365 Gosh, not nearly as much as I should. When I'm really into it, I try to play at least an hour a day, but sometimes I get really busy and might go for days without really picking it up.
@ericgatewood1995 Thanks! This recording wasn't so good, to be honest. Check out the other ones I've done. They're not perfect, but better than this one I think.
Thanks for the kind words. I worked on this considerably after I made this video (which I can't stand to watch anymore, honestly). Check out Part 3 of my "How to play..." videos, which covers the first picking run. Hopefully, it's gotten a little better.
I bought this one over 20 years ago so I don't remember exactly what it cost, but I think it was over $500 at the time (and it wasn't a top-of-the-line model). You can get classical guitars in the $100-$200 range, but they're usually not very good. You can also pay $5000 or more, but that's only worth it if you're a concert performer. Probably, the $500-$1000 range will get you a very good instrument.
lol woohhooo smokin!funny how some people like mick mars or cc deville get noticed, but not the dude in his room blastin out vh solos.good job on that assending run!

@luapsel77 Thank you. I do have two or three other performances on my page that are a lot better than this one. It is indeed a difficult piece.

@ludwigvan17 Combination of tabs and ear. I slowed down the recording and listened to that to get some of the details and timing.

Not bad !
the tapping part is fluid and dynamic
You need to work the picking part wich requires supersonic speed and acuracy and a lot of power but your vid is worth the glance
