How can you confirm this impacted the sun? I only ask this because to my understanding, comets are dust and ice pretty much, and by getting close to the sun would, in theory, melt. Is it not possible that it passed behind?
@lessavit it would be based by the size of the comet..sometimes they just burn up...but some do hit the sun. I did see the video and it did hit..I don't know why they would the images..they release all the other comets hitting..If you want the see the comet hitting the sun..check out Weathernut..he is the only one with the video..its a good shot of it too.

The dust and ice composition of a comet is what creates the tail of the comet as it gets closer to the sun, the exact composition is unknown, but the comet has to a bulk composition of elements that are not affect by the suns solar output or comets wouldnt make continuous passes at the sun in a timely fashion. If it was nothing but ice and dust, it would lose mass with each pass, changing its tragectory.
