  • So I'm assuming 10$ is worth it for this game?

  • whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa wait wait wait.... steve...butts?! AHAHAaHSA;DSJ

  • review was kinda lame :/

  • u can try to run a and gun but good luck you gotta be stealthy

  • This is one of my favorite games of all time

  • The graphics seem heaps better on PS3, is that correct?

  • i like the game, but im pissed off by having to few ammo.

  • good review tho i guess

  • "if you like games, play this" LOL

  • @sitstandnow lol. i facepalmed to

  • sequel? are you a dumbass? it's a prequel..

  • Got this game on Onlive. Pretty cool. Never really played games on my computer before nor have I played Deus Ex but its a damn good game.

  • I will probaly get this in about a year. :P

  • Correction.

One of the most thoughtful and engrossing games of all time.

  • The game is almost perfect apart from when I got to the Illuminati bit, that cracked me up!

  • The button mapping in this game is completely F'd up and NOT player configurable. The first boss has radio controlled magnetic velcro grenades that can seek you out from across the room. Your character cannot run more than 8 steps before tiring. (That's augmentation for ya!) The normal baddies are either blind or stupid and cannot see you pinned to a wall 4 feet away. The street environments are utterly compressed making the outdoors feel claustrophobic.

Someone said game of the year,Yea right

  • @waygee1234 the button mapping fits the games style, agree bosses are retarded, sprinting is probs due to all teh smoking that caused dat voice, the baddies were always stupid even in first and its compressed cause it aint bout open world

    goty no

    nominee mabye

  • It has been 10 years since I've wanted to throw a controller through the TV screen, and this game absolutely is the most frustrating game I've EVER played. That is no joke, so be prepared for that if you buy this game. Between the Hacking bullsh*t and the first boss fight, I have given up on this game and it goes to gamestop in the morning,

What a waste of a promising title....

  • @waygee1234 What a shame.

  • This video has inspired me to buy this game! Thanks! :)

  • Nowhere near as atmospheric as the original. Some great ideas in there though.

  • i got this for £1 from on live, the augmented edition, lol, your all jealous.

  • @itzAtrailerWarferret 40 Pound Xbox Onlive is release in uk 1 pound augmented first game lol

  • @XJackLawd7 what?

  • @itzAtrailerWarferret Never Mind Sunshine

  • @XJackLawd7 your last sentence didnt make sense...

  • "if you can get past the business of shadowy conspiracies"..... ever play a Deus ex game before???? thats their main theme

  • @supamat4u yeah i thought that was a retard comment too.

  • @supamat4u yeah lets remove the conspiracy elements from the game:

-adam jensen is a normal guy

-his job is to keep out the homeless guys

-the arch enemy is some loudmouth from Human Resources

    -he doesnt carry weapons

-most of the time he fills out paperwork.

    -He only dates fat chicks

Now thats what ppl want to play

  • IA suck,

  • is anyone pissed off at the console control scheme and the fact that you can't customize it, if so email the hell outta Eidos Montreal and Square Enix and complain, it worked for crysis 2 and it will work for Deus EX HR

  • You can get deus ex human revolution for free here megafire.org\?qhAlVG ¸

  • this game is amazing but the boss fights are pure shit

  • Comment removed

  • Game of the year for me. Not perfect but damn near.

  • @TheVGamer mine too I loved the experience of living in that near future world :) I felt like I was in bladerunner or fifth element lol

  • story = amazing

    soundtrack = awesome

    gameplay = creative

communication system = no good or bad choices, means: amazing

boss fights: quite lame but you can get over it

  • SPOILERS MUCH!?!?

  • steve butts

  • Its not brilliant. Combat is terrible, boss battles suck, and bad ai

  • It is a very engaging game. Buy it.

  • Wait for the discount version...its not worth the full price.

  • hi this is steve, with our review of Day of Sex.. lol

  • Check out my review on this racist underwhelming game.

  • At the end I thought he said it was also one of the most awful and grossing games hed ever played.

  • you sound like the voice actor for the hl2 male citizens

  • Its Actually A Prequel

  • Well, I currently work for a Lockheed Martin developing a new command and control system for Navy warships. The sorts of thing we see in deus ex are nothing but science fiction.

In the game they are not just prototype skunkworks technologies, they are commercial grade... like televisions. Everyone has access to them. We are SOOOOO FAR from this it's not funny. I'm not naive, I'm an engineer and I'm basing my opinion on military technology I work on.

  • Was anyone else struck by the idea that this game is set in 2027?

Among other things, there are hand-held laser rifles, advanced augmentations (personal radar systems!), stealth cloaks and a universal currency.

    I'd believe 2127. Maybe.

Just an observation. Great game and review regardless.

  • @toobnoobify how the hell can you say that? laser weapons already exist, stealth cloak clothing already been shown, radar systems on helmets/glasses are already in use. Flying camera drones are starting to patrol streets in USA next year, i mean cmon. It's all already out there, and you give it another 100 years? lol. the illuminati must've brainwashed you.

  • @SmokiSounds haha, laser weapons mounted on 747 chassis that have never been battle proven exist. Do you realize the amount of energy required to generate a laser beam? It is way more than something the size of a rifle. The game has advanced radar systems contained in tiny ocular implants... do you realize how big current radar systems are?

The list goes on and on. May I remind you that 2027 is only 15 years from now. We are at least a century from this technology.

  • @toobnoobify You are so naive. So, so naive. /watch?v=TW78wbN-WuU&feature=aso

how naive do you have to be to believe that what they mount on 747 is all there is to show? You REALLY think that people who control technological advancement will just share everything with you? hahahahah. Those who are in power and make decisions are at LEAST 20 years ahead of society in technology. They just keep releasing things slowly, controlling you and me. But you go ahead, ignorance is bliss.

  • @SmokiSounds The iPhone 4 is the greatest technology we have right now. You honestly believe we will go from iPhone to cybernetic legs in 15 years?

The game is set 15 years from now. For a point of reference, 15 years ago the peak technology was the flip phone. So in your estimate, we will go flip-phone->iPhone->SUPERPORTABLELASERWEAPONS for everyone.

  • @toobnoobify iphone4??? really??? dude you're beyond naive. You may be an engineer but then you know so little.

  • @toobnoobify The iPhone 4 is the greatest technology we have? Really?

  • @4ingP Fair enough. What do you feel is the greatest mass produced technology right now is? Remember that it has to be mass produced and consumed by the public, just like augmentations in the game.

For crying out loud, hobos in Deus Ex have augmentations... they are like food stamps.

  • @toobnoobify Seeing as the iPhone doesn't serve an important purpose other phones don't, anything that actually does serve a purpose. A PC. Hell, a typewriter. How does the iPhone make business/society more efficient that other phones don't do?

Hobos don't have augmentations. The whole reason they're hobos is that they lost their jobs because they didn't get augmented.

  • @toobnoobify Even with the recent discovery and investigation of materials such as graphene? A material that is as thin as an atom and the only way it can be pierced is if you could balance an elephant on top of a pencil on top of a graphene sheet?

Not trolling, just curious. 15 years might be too short of a time window but 100 years might be a bit exagerated.

  • @toobnoobify Hmmmmm...I've got an idea.....it's a fucking video game. I could care less if it was set in 1678 or 3579. As long as the story and gameplay is good.

  • @Ghost0744 The game is awesome, I raised a question about the timeline. Sheesh, relax.

  • @toobnoobify how about 2011?

    DARPA made the arm...

    (copy paste)

    watch?v=bDvJEKfT5TI

  • @abram730 That arm is so far from being perfected and mass produced it's crazy. Can you imagine how much it costs?

Don't think that the military has technologies decades ahead of everyone else. Almost all military technology is developed privately and if it has any commercial value you will hear about it... because they will be trying to sell it to you.

  • @toobnoobify It's being fast tracked and clinical trials should be complete in 2012-2013.

Cost so far doesn't need to be imagined. About 1/10th what apple spent on its ARM-based mobile chip.

100 million and the arm is mostly done. price per unit depends on demand.

The brain chip is also in human trials

The first unit only has "girl power", but that will be improved in later models.

2027 is about right, but no time line on optogentic interface.

Oddly the jetcopter stands out the most.

  • @abram730 this would be an example of next gen artificial muscle.

    google nanotechnology_breakthrough_produces_artificial_muscles

"100 times stronger than natural muscles, able to do 100 times greater work per cycle"

    hydrogen alcohol powered.

  • @abram730 The game is set 15 years from now. Every second person in the game has augs, I'm sure hobos too but I'll have to check.

Regardless, someguy459 pointed out that the game has a different timeline.

Anyone looking for more DE-HM videos, check out this one: ?NR=1&v=akaos1U8Rto

  • @toobnoobify

It takes place in an alternate history, where research of prosthetics moved forward at high speeds since the 1970's.

  • @someguy459 Ah, that makes sense. I should have read more of those wiki-books lying around.

  • Is this the same Steve Butts who worked for IGN?

Loved the review. It did a real good job pointing out the games strengths and it's weaknesses.

  • STEVE BUTTS!!! IGN fan here. Nice to see your work again.

  • More games like this please! Blade Runner meets Robocop... simply awesome.

The aesthetics, art design and mood of this game are second to none

  • @botswanky yeah i totally agree. cyberpunk mechanical mess ups is what i want. it's why i'm looking forward to new MGS, MGS hd remakes and Prey2.

  • Steve butts.

  • like games? Buy Deus ex: Human Revoloution

could you please make that a bit clearer please

  • @manchee3 What it basicly says is that this game is for darn near everyone. Atleast from the shooter and RPG stand piont. This ain't Madden or Sims so lets move on. If your a Gun toating badass, be one. If you like stealth and quiet kills, fine. If your a skilled conersationest and like to just BS the main door gaurd, ok. All this mixed with a large open ended world will make most gamers put other games on the shelf.

  • It's a prequal, not a sequal. How unproffessional this reviewer is...

  • Hahaha. "Butts."

  • i literally just bought sc conviction and fallout new vegas, combined make up most of this games elements, shit :P

  • 360P only video for an HD game review? Dissapointed.

  • another handjob and a glass of orange juice and deus ex is on its way to the next integrity deficient media outlet

  • is it SORTA like splinter cell?.. and can you free roam the city or area?

  • @blade91370 yes you can

  • is it SORTA like splinter cell?

  • I honestly haven't touch the first two Deus Ex games, but i'm actually becoming increasingly interested to playing this. I'm not sure about buying it immediately though.

  • @GeekMaladroit I didnt play the first 2 either but this game is a "prequel" so you dont need to play the other 2 to get into this one but i bought this game day one and its DEFFINETLY worth it....in fact this game felt like it should have been more expensive just for the presentation and how much longer it is then most games at the same price

  • just got this game - the review is on point

  • @RevengeIsScorpion is actually good?

  • @sk84fun9

Its good the game is varied, but funny controls you gotta get used to

  • @RevengeIsScorpion Ya I know I got is yesterday at 9 and stayed up to 2am woke up at 12 and beat it hahah such a good game.

  • How good is the replay value?

  • @SpunSeaLion you won't understand the story the first time around so it's good for at least 2 playthroughs

  • Steve Butts

  • @scooma1 oh, shut up, they don't pay people to review it, I played and beat it, it's an amazing game. Now if you dont mind, I'm going to pick up the cash Square gave me to say that. /s

  • Waiting for Yahtzee's opinion.....

  • @TheSilentOne50 You should form your own opionion and buy the game =D

  • @TheSilentOne50

As opposed to all the positive reviews it's gotten?

  • @TheSilentOne50 I think the game does a huge amount of things right but its caught with the trappings of modern games. It feels unpolished.

The lack of character customization beyond augmentations is pretty infuriating. I don't want to be batman. Why is it always night? I'm not even a guy and I want my character to reflect that like it did in Mass Effect.

I come away from the huge amounts of yellow with a headache. Is a realistic lighting scheme sometimes too much to ask over stylization?

  • I think my guy would be like a stealth guy but if I need to, I will go loud. I think I would use boxes to kill my foes... Seems fun.

  • CANT WAIT FOR THIS GAME!!!!

will i be able to run I have R5830 6gigs of RAM and Windows 7 64bit

    thanks for input :D

  • Another excellent Steve Butts review.

  • I love this game! Our Unboxing video had some really great comments on it. I can't wait to show people more unboxing videos for games like this.

  • In my opinion, Deus Ex is and always will be a PC game. Played through the first two several times and the original is in my top 3 of all time. Cannot wait to play this one.

  • 9.5/10.

This game is like buying three games in one. Mass Effect + Splinter Cell + MGS4 = Deus Ex HR.

  • @JJTP3 it depends if u want the game to be a little bit more defined then pc if u want that dirty looking feel from like earlier deux ex's games or ghost in the shell true cyber-punk ps3 but if u have a *360 with a hard drive get it on that and install it cuz it runs the faster that way

  • Would you recommend this for PC or PS3?

  • @JJTP3 Don't listen to anthony. The game is far better on pc. The devs said it them selves. Do you're self a favor and buy it on pc. Load times dont take 30 seconds on pc.

  • @JJTP3 it depends on preference. i am going to get in on ps3 because there the controls are easyer to get used to (you dont have to use "enter" over and over) but if you have a pc that can handle it and you dont mind useing stuff like enter you could get it on the pc, there the loading times shouldnt be as long as on ps3 where they are about 5-15 sec. i dont have the pc to run this well on and like i said before i prefer ps3 controls so i am getting on that. hope it helped :D

  • @codguy038 Yeah thanks. :D

  • @Hijynx87 I dunno, ask the guy I was replying to. I was just parodying Friday, by Rebbeca Black. :/

  • Looks cool (the console controller still makes me feel a bit queasy) so bring on friday is what I say!

  • Actually its a prequel, not a sequel...

  • When did Brian Posehn start reveiwing games?

  • @MrGinger2612 It's Friday, Friday, gotta get Dues ex on friday.

Everyones looking foward to playing it, playing it,

Friday, Friday, gotta get Dues ex on friday...

  • @ultimateninjamastah isn't it out right now? it's on steam. Or are you EU?

  • Thing is I'm not a fan of Square Enix's products :/

  • @nachoguy5 Square Enix is just the publisher. Eidos Montreal is the developer.

  • @nachoguy5 neither am i but they do tend to bring out a great game now and then

  • Puuut on a trench coat!

  • Whoa whoa whoa, too many spoilers here, what the hell?

  • Can't wait for Friday.

  • IF any of you are sceptical of this game, go download the early beta version that was released earlier this year, it has the first part of the game, if you play that, it WILL convince you to go out and buy the rest. I had no interest in the game before and I'm definitely going to buy it as soon as a I can now.

  • Like games? Buy Deus Ex: Human Revolution!

    Good enough for me.

  • Great review, but I had a hard time concentrating when I was giggling over the name Steve Butts. Tee hee!-Butts.

  • i know this is supposed to be a great game but i didn't like the first one 2 much so i don't think ill get it.

  • @epb111 Its a prequel, Plus u cant compare new gen games with the older PS2 Xbox titles.

  • wow this game looks awesome it looks like Edios and Square Enix has gem on there hands they could win many awards for this game. If I could I would buy this game.

  • @DamuEmran Its fun to hear the very very racist voices they do for Chinese and Blacks the entire game

  • I live in a small town, not enough preorders for a midnight launch.

  • you guys are stupid..\

    great review Steve

  • I LIKE BUTTS, STEVE BUTTS THAT IS....

  • I am counting the hours here in NY. 14.5 hours until it is loaded onto my 360s HD.

  • @pyrotheos 14.5 theres no midnight launch?

  • @ntuttles There was a midnight launch here in Oregon at Gamestop

  • Don't bother with the Butt jokes, he's heard them all.

  • I think he used to work at ign

  • LOL IS HIS NAME REALLY STEVE BUTTS
