I think its funny how people can't figure out why they made a spyder/convertable instead of some targa/t-top design. Its all because the vehicle is the same exact chassis as the Gallardo so they already had the parts layed out for the conversion that can easily be fabricated to fit the R8. It would just be easier when they already have the blueprints drawn out for the Gallardo Spyder and not for some targa design.

What I don't get is why they removed the sheets of carbon fiber from the sides.

Well in my personal point of view, the carbon fiber blades set the vehicles looks off and seperates it from other car designs. I'm so used to the carbon fiber, that any R8 I see without it just looks... well... boring.
