What a difficult vocal line to follow -- those odd modulations! He handles it all so beautifully, with perfectly consistent color through the arpeggiated passages. moving up to gorgeous, supported high notes. Yikes, so hard to do. And the drama of the middle section of the piece. Lips forward, to shoot that sound out, even in the lower range. In the words of Rachel Zoe, "I die."
Brilliant! The incomparable Luciano! I love his enthusiam for the dance here and the way he evokes the spirit of it by the swaying of the shouklers and gesticulations indicating the swirling movement of those taking part. A great interpretation which fires the imagination and allows us to join in the fun of the dance.
@B337h0v3n Indeed!! I realized it just after I sent it (that the first one is Donizetti, since I forgot that these are uploaded in pairs!!) Sorry, my bad!
I'm sitting at the computer with a terribly messed up shoulder, still in pain after surgery 7weeks ago. But listening to this spirited singing by the GREAT LUCIANO has soothed my pain. He was more than one of the great tenors of all time. He was a unique human being, with a zest for life that shines through in everything he ever sang on stage or said in interviews. I miss him very much. Thank God he lives on in You Tube clips like this gem, and bravo anche il pianista!
Grande Pavarotti !!!!
lol jeez you're mean. It wouldn't be as bad if you were correct. This is one aria in a recital- one recital that was recorded in one day (and most likely in one afternoon). I highly doubt that they had time for multiple takes.
Additionally, are you trying to deny that he slipped at 6:09?! Pavarotti is the best, and he is and always will be sorely missed, but he was not infallible.
Jake-As a 21 yo fiddlestick you might wanna think twice before you talk. Some of us were going to opera well before you daddy shagged your mommy while she was ovulating! Read my comment above. This is a studio recording. Do I need to say more? Think before you talk! Pinhead.
Haha, you just live to argue, don't you? As a 21 year old singer and pianist, I've probably been in more recording studios than you can fathom.
What really troubles me is that you assume Pavarotti was totally satisfied with this recording of danza... He cracked! It's a great recording, but he cracked lol get a life! I'm done talking to you.
You're assuming too much. Just remember you're 21 and probably nothing special. Your definition of cracking is rather absurd. Get your ears checked or just listen to Villazon.

His voice did not crack at 1:03. It's a "mordent" - an ornament often used in music from this period and earlier

Try to make sense. This is a studio recording. If mishaps happened, they'd gone for a retake! Duh!
