  • FG is a true metal-jazz fusion..

  • the best drums player i know .... OMG

  • Oh my God!

Since when did YouTube show Pornography?!

  • omg!!!

  • Tremendo!!!

  • INSANE !!!!!!!

  • The smile at 4.05 shows Weckyl in complete control and demonstrating mastery of his instrument, a truly inspiring solo.

  • I always thought that Frank played his best stuff with the ElectriK Band....and it's confirmed with this vid. Same with Weckl. Great vid!

  • WECKL GENIUS = 6:00 to 6:10

Other drummers are brilliant... Weckl is in a class apart ALL BY HIMSELF !! I never saw or heard any other drummer do what he does 6:00 to 6:10 That is magic !!!

  • holy shit my brain just blow up

  • 6:04-6:16 is just... awe fuck!!! just... fuck!!!

  • @zooby11isbambam

YOU (well) SAID IT !!!! You spotted the genius bit in the whole video !

  • @Veritas1925 it's like... he only does insanely creative, dynamic, fucking just... perfect shit, and nothing else. absolutely zero loose ends in his playing, and everything is exactly what he is trying to say, all the time, every time. i mean, that just doesn't happen. i could literally count the amount of people at his skill level on two hands.

  • @zooby11isbambam

Let me dissect your great comment and point out the words you used that equal 'Weckl':

    (1) your words "CREATIVE, DYNAMIC" -- perfectly pointed out, zooby

    (2) 'perfect shit' - the word 'PERFECT'... and shit too !!!

    (3) 'zero loose ends' - none, never

    (4) "everything is exactly what he is trying to say EVERY TIME" - spot on

And I COUNT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE AT THIS LEVEL IN ONE HAND.... Only Weckl, sorry, no one else !!!!

  • @zooby11isbambam

And you're a drummer, aren't you, zooby11 ? I think it may take one to spot 6:00 et seq

Absolute brutal musical monsters on that stage.

Their genius ? Look at the age range of the spectators.... from 12 to 90 !! That's how good they are !!!

Each of these five must have two brains, working in unison, LOL

GOD BLESS THESE GUYS AND GIVE THEM A GOOD and LOOOONG LIFE... I want to listen to these 5 guys forever !!!!!!!!!

  • @zooby11isbambam

I know absolutely or very little about guitars but it does not take a genius to appreciate Gambale. Look at that !!!!

    Corea ? GOD !

Who are the other two, sax and bass ?!

  • @zooby11isbambam

One final note... let's not forget the Japanese and the trauma they are going through right now after the quake, tsunami and not the fucking reactors... They gave us those drums and Corea's keyboards (Yamaha....) and don't forget the bikes too, LOL

  • @zooby11isbambam

    Elektric Band.... got it !!

    /watch?v=l9mYDot2jXg&NR=1&feature=fvwp

  • I've got a match, my face and your butt.

  • @AaronShivers boooooo!!!! lol XD

  • Dave is a drummer killer...!!!

  • Dave "fucking" Weckl!

    Damn beast

  • i wanna cry.. this is some godly performance..

God must watched it with big smile.. :)

    Gbu all.

  • マジキチ

  • god damn it, dave is fucking rediculous on this video.

  • yeah dude he does all the time. i KNOW guthrie would kill stuff like this unmercifully. he can adjust to any style of playing because he has literally made himself comfortable with any scale in any key, ESPECIALLY the ones that go over the crazy jazz chord progressions. he would only need to know the arrangement and chord progressions and he could play it with ease. he's a CHAMELEON!!!!!

  • O M G !!!

  • i REALLY want to hear guthrie govan play with this band. i don't know if they could though, their combined pure awesomeness on one stage might create some kind of rupture in the time-space continuum that may lead to the destruction of the universe... still, would be a hell of an end to everything as we know it.

  • @zooby11isbambam Guthrie Govan is impressive, but I'm curious if he could improvise over those intricate Jazz chord arrangements.

I doubt if the alternate picking prowess of a McLaughlin or Di Meola is required to work with CCEB. Even Frank "economizes" his way out of alternate picking. However, picking all, or most of the notes, is much more pronounced in acoustic playing.

Frank is INCREDIBLE on electric, but IMO, he would get eaten alive in an acoustic setting with McLaughlin and Di Meola.

  • @TheTranslator100 watch?v=oE5yMTCbsC0

  • @zooby11isbambam Thanks for the video, but I'll be honest; he kinda sounds out of place here.

Guthrie is a MONSTER in his own element, but even great players get caught playing out of their comfort zone.

Take Lee Ritenour for instance. He sounds great when in Jazz mode, but sounded like shit trying to do the rockish funk thing with Marcus Miller and George Duke. Unless you're (the late) Lenny Breau, it's pretty much near impossible to be equally efficient in various genres of playing.

  • @TheTranslator100 i disagree. i believe you can. all music has it's fundamentals, and most are shared throughout the genres. it's just a matter of learning them. and i don't think guthrie sounds out of place, i think that's just how he sounds over that kinda stuff. i mean you can't expect someone who is so experimental with music to conform to the rest of the guitar playing world just because hes playing a particular genre. kinda like weckl plays jazz much differently than say buddy rich would.

  • @TheTranslator100 He is not bad playing acoustic. I doubt he would be eaten alive. Have you met him in person or attended any of his workshops. Harmonically he has much to say than those other two. Something you get from playing with Chick Corea

  • Comment removed

  • @ishta Yes, I've talked to him in person at a CCEB gig in my hometown.

Frank would have an arduous time in an acoustic setting, because Al and John are speed picking demons who can do it all night long, such as their epic performance at Friday Night at San Francisco with Paco. Frank's acoustic playing is more conservative compared to his electric. There are others who've made the same observation as well. Frank is better than Al Di Meola in strait Jazz and Smooth Jazz, but who isn't? lmao

  • JESUS!!!! they're so FUCKING tight!!! it's almost like all of the instruments are being played by the same person, like if it were possible to hook all the instruments electronically to weckle's kit and it was just him playing... but it's like six different people... shit and cum...

  • I think Frank is like, originally and in his heart a rock player, but to have the vocab of an impressively large amount of knowledge on the guitar. It's hard to contain ideas just around your normal rock pentatonic scales/chords. So it sounds like there's not a lot of feeling in his playing, but his focus is on playing fast/insane scale formations, not necessarily focusing on the "feeling" of the songs. But it's there, you just have to be open enough to understand Frank's approach.

  • I vote that if you can not play and instrument with a clean tone,or sing w/o the use of pitch correct, auto tune, and whatever you can find to sound like you have talent, your not a musician. The artist of today can learn a great deal about music if they wanted to, instead many of them take music written by real artist sample it and put trash tracks on top of it and call themselves artist WTF happen to music?

  • This is really majestic!

specially when they get in lina and start phrasing those sick and long licks!

i wonder how they get to write these kind of things in such a perfect way without an obvious pattern!

    Superb!

  • JESUS H. CHRIST

  • @gd44 that is beast drummer Dave Weckl

  • Comment removed

  • that drummer ....best I ever seen

  • Hot Shit Daves the man

  • I'm not one of those idiots that go "OMG THAT'S REALLY FAST" and stuff. BUT WECKL WAS REALLY TOO FAST.

  • I would have cried if they all stood in a line in front of me. Like at 06:45.

  • Damn.

  • jejeje, funny those jazz kids at 3:12, are they musicians or/and musician sons?

  • I wanna cry. It's the best Weckl's performance I've ever seen.

  • @sisenioritoquerido You should see the Live in Montreaux 2004...

  • 6:18 i just came

  • @evesira jazzgasm!!

  • 2:40 - 3 : 32

now its clear he is best jazz guitar player of all time

  • OMG ez brutál.

  • COOLIOTO, go listen to your hip-hop, it's obvious that this music is way above your "grade".

  • Check out my music

  • Incredible Weckl, one of the best

  • Um das melhores performaces de Weckl! "The lord of the sticks". São essas coisas da vida que não me fazem abandonar o instrumento mais fascinante, a bateria (drums). Um mostro (A Monster)!

  • Gambale's solo here is absolutely head-wreckingly amazing. Jaw-dropping. That is my jaw dropped about two feet. It normally drops about an inch or two. I couldn't stop dropping it. Plus all so effortless. It's like nothing to him. He's in the zone, man.

Plus he has a group with Otmaro Ruiz, killer piano-player from Venezuala who I met in Spain. I mean, killer, killer. Check him out. He kills.

  • OMG

  • ugly music

  • @coolioto unfortunate your not able to dig on this... from a musical skill and technique standpoint......this is about the best it gets...

  • check out the guy at 3:12. He's just shakin' his head like, sh!* Frank's just from another planet!!!

  • Oh, did I mention that Frank is just friggin' incredible!!

  • I didn't comment on the performers by the way...when you're the best in the business, everybody should know it. If they don't already, they just need to check out the video. These guys are all about as good as it gets...

  • Wow, check out the guy at 09:01...Uh huh huh! Whoa slow down rainman!

  • Now the woman at 5:14 is bebopping a little bit...and she looks good!

  • Ha! no doubt, she ain't with it at 2:31. Maybe her boytoy is an ass!? Or maybe she should have gone to see Taylor Hicks or somebody like that....

  • This is ridiculously good! Yes, they play with a sense of humor. It's jazz. The drummer is fantastic. Frank Gambale is leading the way, at the forefront of jazz/fusion guitar. Fusion is alive and well!

  • The most efficient guitar player I've ever heard/seen..

  • frank's a bore...who's he trying to impress?

  • damn dream theater got pwned..D

those guys are the real shit..the tightness and grove are insane..not to mention the speed they play those songs..

  • SOMEBODY CALL THE AUTHORITIES!!!!

  • this video is awesome, everyone is just totally at the top of their game. but there are also a lot of really randomly funny things, like gambale's facial expression at 0:20. or how chick corea seems to start playing "pop goes the weasel" at 7:40. or - the best - the guy in the audience at 9:01 who looks like he's having an orgasm lmao

  • @supergoing7 9:01 jaja its hard not having one!!! this video is outstanding i cant imagine this live!!!! daaaaaaamn

  • @supergoing7 Yeah! the guy on 9:01 really makes me laugh! I would love to be there!

  • That stuff is in another stratosphere, I can't even begin to think of how you go about getting that good.

  • The amazing Frank Gambale near the big Chick Corea.....it is fantastic....!!!!!!.

  • ***HELP NEEDED,***

Ive been playing for about 12 years and consider myself an ok rock /metal drummer... but have been finding my self getting really board of the same crap... any advice on any DVD's / books worth checkin out for this kind of style?

    Thanx heaps

  • try listening to these cats - Of course Dave weckl.....Vinnie Colauita..Steve Smith...Steve Jordan..Gerald Heyward..Mike Clemons..Stokely..Brian fraser moore...Buddy Rich...and alot of studio musicians you can find on pop records.

  • Tomas Haake

  • @Eugyea

  • 2:30

    "What the Hell is happening?"

  • BRAVO!!!!!!

  • WOW!!!

  • God DAMN!

  • Q salvajes...q banda..

  • jesus christ...... 5/5

  • that was absolutely amazing,what a band,what

    a gig to see live.

  • Is Chick Corea annoyed at 00:58? :P

    Great performance!

  • holycrapoly. it doesn't get better

  • holy crap..

  • one of Dave weckl's hot days

  • excelente musica!, bravo!, pero prefiero ver a la elektric band con john patitucci

  • Who is the bassist?

  • john patitucci

  • errata corrige: ... Mike Pope

  • i forgot the bassist's name but i remember he was playing with Al di Meola and he reccomend him for the Chick Corea gig

  • aerofop's right, it's pope

  • woman at 2:31 looks so bored. boyfriend dragged her there

  • ...and don't forget Eric Marienthal on alto! What a Monster that guy is! I saw this band several times in the late 80's (with Pattitucci) and Eric is just unbelievable and a really nice guy.

BTW I'm still waiting for the youtube music critic society to unveil the truly great musicians. I'm tired of only getting to hear second rate players like Chick and his hacks...

  • see, frank is an amazing player but i have to say that i like his older stuff much better. it seems to me that he uses the same two licks way too much. but still very talented.

  • wow ...estos no son humanos... son de otro planeta...!!!! k musica tan bonita y tan compleja y tan wna...chevre

  • Simplemente maravilloso!!

  • Very Awesome.... those FG's days was remarkable...

  • What is this video taken from?

  • Fusion at it's best!!!

  • is that dave weckl??

  • oops it is!!!! forget me loll

  • The difference between Frank and other fusion gods is that not only can he play fast, but he thinks as well. He's got BeBop in his heart. The other guys Howe, Holdsworth, Henderson, Satch, etc. are all flash and no depth. They're just fast rock and rollers.

  • you're a fucking ignorant!!

  • And you are so very eloquent, and I'm sure quite brilliant...

  • Think you should really process what you wrote...

for Howe Listen to His album Extraction...you'll get your answer

  • I've heard the album many times; I have owned two copies of it. Howe is fast and he knows scales but he just can't link them together like Gambale. He hasn't listened to enough Bebop to have the ideas, the seasoning, the knowledge. And by the way, Bireli Lagrene has them all beat.

  • yup i agree.

  • Superb!

  • shit > you

  • look at the kid in the green shirt at 3:13

hes like "what the hell am i listening to".

  • yeah elecrtic band.. who is the drummer?

  • dave weckl

  • Phenomenal!

  • Ha Ha Yeahhh!

  • this is so fucking crazy !

  • Many say that he's robotic and all chops and no feeling....but I love Gambale. Gambale all the way!!! He's one of the best teachers in the world today!!!!

  • Gambale, Howe,Henderson,Holdsowrth top fusion guitarists

  • No doubt

  • Don't forget Brett Garsed!

  • Who is in the bass?

  • Mike Pope

  • practically the best drummer performance I have ever seen....

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, nice one.

  • say that to his face and he'll sick a dingo on you. how can you say that, lets see your videos on how to play Ionian modes faggot.

  • uff.-!

    please show me!

if you're better than i want see that.

  • that was for the shredmaster comment by the way.

  • Bullshit!

  • Thats for the shredmaster comment

  • Total master of the fretboard....incredible

  • What a classy guy. Wrecking ball of a guitar player.

  • i think weckl is the better musician all time.

  • Out of this Earth.

  • Frank Gambale = True "Guitar Hero".

What happened to Patitucci? Called in sick that day?

  • GODS!!!!!

  • the guy at 9:01-9:04 looks likes he's straight out "The Sims" video game.

  • the guitarist frank gambale is the best in the world and ready

  • that was truly mind-blowing.

  • .........and keytars.

  • musicians with flamboyant shirts, mullets and perv staches rule!!!

  • gambale the best.

    chick god.

    weckl his son.

  • awesome

    dont cease posting

  • Gambale is a wonderful freak of nature a nice guy who is built like a biker has strong hands and speed and a wonderful imagination. He's taken the electric guitar and fusion jazz to new heights let's face it guys. Chick has gone through Dimeola and anyone remember Connors? Gambale was a landmark way before he played with Chick C.

  • Hola qué tal

  • this sucks, cceb was much better with scott henderson

  • I can't even believe I am responding to such a silly post but here it goes.

Please, to say this sucks shows you are a troll. You may not like it as much as Henderson's work but to say it sucks is clearly a bunch of junk.

Corea the person that matters disagrees and has stated Gambale is his favorite guitarist.

  • you're the one with the ballbag in your mouth.. maybe you should sit down and reevaluate who really does the sucking

  • I can't understand why people troll videos and start this stuff?

Corea has been around and heard all of the greatest jazz and fusion guitarist over the last 50 plus years. So, for him to pick Gambale as his number one and saying Gambale is his favorite means a lot coming from Chick.

Sure, there are other great players out there and some from the past that are no longer with us but, to say Gambale sucks is just foolish trolling.

Rather juvenile to say the least.

  • If Henderson were better than Frank, he would be playing with chick on this video. But look up the video again... Who is playing? heheheh It's Frank. Ask your self, who played over 7 years with CCEB? It was Henderson or Frank? So... if Chick choose Frank cheat up your mounth and go to the hell with henderson!!!

  • what kind of logic is that? scott probably wouldn't have accepted even if he was asked to return to the CCEB, he has other paths to pursue. Henderson and Gambale are both masters. stop the fighting

  • Wow! Your comment here is one of the most ilogic comments on all the youtube channel, look at yourself ignorant!!! you can´t compare two masters of guitar, Both Henderson and Gambale created a path for millions of young players!! so STOP TALKIN´ and get ready to learn asshole!.....and one more thing Henderson was playing with Joe Zawinul!! I totally agree with jdean9 & sweepfast

  • This is so tight even in very fast tempos!Mike pope is so fantastic.superb bass playing.and the solos...my goodness..its giving my chemical romance a run for thier money.hahahaha.

  • I should fucking hope so lol...

  • this is superb ! where was this performance ?

  • Hi,

This footage was taken at the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague in the Netherlands back in 2003.

  • five stars!, viva frank! and chick corea, too!

  • Yeah,

Don't forget Dave Weckl on drums. The level of advanced syncipation with Corea, Gambale and Weckl in this song is scary.
