  • 'I want to you to take the golden an in the tan van. to take it to dan who gives it to fran. thats the plan.'

'My name is Stan. I'm the man. For stealing the golden an, you get 10 days in the can.'

    LOLZ!! :D

  • Horace

  • How is that a "tan" van?

  • One thing I don't understand is you get to steal my video from me and Youtube won't let me have any of my videos up. Go figure.

  • @qbeam "Grand Theft" Youtube, I guess....sorry to hear about your videos. I never had any interest in profiting, and yet Youtube wants to advertise on it anyway.

  • "and i take it to Horace" i giggle every time he says that

  • One of my favoriTes right up there with "W-W-W-Wilomina!!"

  • My favorite gangsta skit!!

  • @Charla1606

    Mine too!

  • I actually have a golden an on my wall

  • He would've gotten away with it if he HAD taken it to Horace...

  • I'd take the golden AN, put it in the TAN VAN, give to DAN, who'll take to the OKANAGAN,

  • this is about the only time Lefty and his buds do anything really wrong, and notice how they didn't get away with it?

  • This NEVER NEVER gets old!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sweet memories!!!!!! our lives were so inocent then!!!!

  • Just 10 days for stealing a golden "An",officer should've gave him a year.

  • Oh well. I'm sure Lefty could stANd 10 days in the cAN better thAN Lindsay LohAN ever cAN, right?

  • Do you all remember this one (those of you old enough to, that is...)

  • Sheesh if Lefty lived in Australia he would have gotten off on bail or maybe a suspended sentence or a corrections order coz our legal system sux..

  • @satansstepfather really? you really have to turn Sesame Street into an opportunity for conservative political comment? you sure you're not an american?

  • @ditkoquestion Lol.....must admit, at least the American legal system is a tad better than ours...unless you're Paris Hllton or Lindsay Fuckwank

  • @satansstepfather yeah but he would have got his teeth kicked in during the unofficial police verbal

  • I was wondering if Lefty ever got arrested! Now we know why he doesn't appear on sesame street anymore!

  • I was thinking the same thing. Maybe this was the last skit Lefty was on since he got arrested in this skit which could be another reason why the audience doesn't see him anymore on skits trying to sell something to Ernie. (I know that Lefty was in one skit with Lord Chatterly).

  • I suspected that Sherlock Hemlock is about to hunt down his recent criminal, Lefty the Salesman!

  • Lefty: "Ah, I should have ran!" Aw, quit cryin' and do your time.

  • 2:50 busted! : - /

  • Did "Dan" get "Fran" a Golden "FR"? And is that why the street salesman has to give the Golden "AN" to Dan who would take it to Fran?

  • But I didn't relive he just got 10 days for AN theft what's up with the justice system

  • Lovely full I remember all this just as should

  • 'Put it in a tan truck...and take it to Horace!' Though those lines don't rhyme with 'AN,' they are the lines that are stuck in my mind the most. Man, what memories!

  • This entire skit was just plain be-you-tee-ful. From the jazzy, crime-show opening theme, to the dim and grimy alley where the deal goes down... The way Nelson, Oz, and Henson voice their characters... Even the way the segment is shot is awesome - it's all perfect. I'm blown away by the attention to detail. They just don't make 'em like the used to, I tell ya.

  • Like something off of TV. ;-)

I can picture a saxophone solo in this.......

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!

  • Far out! Thanks for posting. This one has been stuck in my head for decades now!

  • I havent seen this in over 30 years .God bless free to air public t.v. Thanks for posting. I've been searching for this for months. One of my favorites as a child!

  • that blue guy reminds me of dennis fr-AN-z!!

  • Where might I get a captioned version of this?

  • Notice poster of CTW director Jon Stone in sunglasses on the wall in back of the alley.

  • Where in gta do you steal a golden an? or even any kind of juwel? in a van? so how has this anything to do with gta?

  • I'll answer the questions as soon you find secret Sesame characters in GTA. Good luck finding Super Grover in Vice City.

  • Thanks for answering

  • @GeneralTrue I do believe you were to say "jewl", you sir are silly.

  • Jerry Nelson played Big Blue, Actor/Director Frank Oz played Lefty, and of course, the late Jim Henson played the police patrolman.

  • Thanks for posting. I've been searching for this for months. One of my favorites as a child!

  • Thanks for posting this, I was looking for it the other day, but the only thing I remembered about the clip was that there was a 'van' in it, so I searched 'sesame street van' but I just go a lot of Dutch Sesame St. clips- LOL! I finally found it when I thought to search 'an' instead. This was one of my favorite segments when I was a kid- I guess the music and the night atmosphere made an impression on me.

  • For some strange reason, The theme from COPS is going through my head watching the ending

    ?

  • lol, 10 days in the can for stealing a golden AN.

  • Funny thing is, when I was a girl I didn't know that "the can" was slang for "jail"...I pictured Officer Stan and some backup cops, stuffing the thieves into Oscar's trash can as punishment!

  • That was a good line. I guess Lefty was sad to have gotten arrested but, he probably didn't have to be too sad since he would be released out of jail (the can) in 10 days, and 10 days is not too long.

  • That's right. After he was released, he just went back to selling things for, oh, say a nickel?

I know he tried to sell an E for eight dollars in the Sesame Street Dictionary. As Ernie puts it, that's too expensive. And I agree, especially since that's not the usual amount Lefty offers.

  • Yes that's right. Lefty sold stolen items to Ernie for a nickel (I think it was in every Ernie and Lefty skit that the items costed a nickel).

Also, I never saw in the Sesame Street Dictionary that he sold an "E" for eight dollars (maybe he said that because, "eight" starts with "E"). Ernie is also right that it was very expensive (usually, I thought it would cost under four dollars since in stores that I go to, if they sell letters and numbers, they're always under four dollars).

  • @CCCheezus

    Poetic justice at its best!
