I remember dancing to this song with the one who got away.

She lived in London and I was leaving to follow my career.

It was so important to me and I wanted her to come with me.

She turned me down a few days before I left for America and Los Angeles.

Saw her last year and she is a mum and happy with her life.

I left London and promised her Mum I would come back for Christmas this year.

Her Mum passed last month and it was like losing my Mum and Dad all over again.

This song is not on Itunes. It came out in 1984 on his album Eric Carmen -1984. It was on the radio back then. I think that it is one of his top 5 songs--including the songs when he was a part of The Raspberries. Hard for me to listen to it -- reminds me of someone that I had to let go who made me feel like I was in love.

I don't know how I missed this song. It's awesome. Yes, it sounds like he's about to launch into "All By Myself" -- but who cares. He is so wonderful. This song could have been recorded by Manilow or Karen Carpenter--if Richard had been adventurous. Eric is an unsung hero of rock ballads... but really, this is borderline pop/Broadway/cabaret -- he's an awesome talent.

The CD that contains this song was orginally only released in Japan, which I tried for many years to obtain, unsuccessfully. However, several years ago, while in Myrtle Beach, SC, I found this on CD, on the Geffen label. I doubt seriously if this CD is still in print, but, you never know.
