  • Huge U2 fan....still am.... This though is my favorite album.....something about it.... so transcendent..... so moody. I love moody U2. Hope they do another passengers album

  • Let us celebrate 4th of July on December 31st for once. This is baller 365 days a year as is New Year's Day but don't tell that to those posers who love U2 once a year, heh

  • "It sounds like this group or that group"

    err...it sounds like U2,exactly-like U2

  • this has clear pink floyd influence

  • @thetechroom its more like the instrumentals done by simple minds or roxy music

  • This was produced by Eno

  • it wouldnt hurt radio stations to play this every now and then, too! i dont care how short it is.. :-/

  • I'm thinkin' "AD William"...

  • This is the transition from summer to fall.

  • May I recommend the book 'A Concise Guide To Eighties Music' by Karl Vorderman. The author is a big fan of this fine instrumental.

  • This song makes me want to touch myself

  • I like this because Brian Eno and the Edge just whipped it up in the studio, just playing off each other.. the rest is history. Zooropa still way under appreciated. Edge was genius ,

  • I have listen to u2 for years now ( I am 40) my favorite band in high school. All the post that u2's new music is not as good ....No Line On The Horizon moment of surrender is one of the greatest songs that they have put out I still listen to them a lot how ever I do listen to Royal Wade Kimes too check out his music it is hard to find but great music

  • agreed

  • very very nice tune reminds me of my time growing up in dublin back in the 1980s

  • this song is cool and creepy as hell at the same time .

  • @MARMARR1 Very true, they reinvented themselves

  • @flippyflyer: You're not the only one. I agree.

  • I love this album, but everything from Joshua Tree to Pop are better albums IMO....they just became better song writers, got better at what they did

  • best album

  • It all ended after Unforgettable Fire

  • One of U2's best albums..and an album cover that can really move a person..

  • @canwejustgo Lol!

  • @canwejustgo

    haha you sucker!

  • @canwejustgo lol.

  • @canwejustgo you are a weirdo

  • @canwejustgo good christ. you're going for a gold medal in moron aren't ya boy?

  • This track was just Adam and Eno jamming some Bass riff and Eno's Atmospheric treatments on Synth and Guitar I beleieve for like 10 min. or so

  • My favorite song of U2 (and favorite album)

  • This band evolves and grows- that is the essence of their greatness. No album- or stage is the same- unlike so many. Bravo!

  • joshua tree and unforgettable fire are great albums as are achtung baby (their best imo) and zooropa (2nd best)... the mark of a great band is one that can evolve their sound..

  • I love it.

...music for people who find solace in near-barren and cold places, like fields of blueish snow at night with speckles of astral light overhead..with no rhythm to speak of,no blues or jazz influence...music perfectly suited for sensitive fair skinned people.

  • @MARMARR1 Kind of. To me, zooropa seemed like a natural extension from Achtung Baby, as far as experimentation with different, more electronic sounds goes. After that, though, I agree that U2 has become a very different beast. But I still like them.

  • this album and joshua tree are great no doubt as are achtung baby (their best imo) and zooropa (2nd best and really was extension of achtung album)... great bands show their ability to evolve their sound..

  • I wish U2 did more pieces like this. This is an amazing track and probably one of the most underrated ones U2 released.

  • @MrNotbadyou its like a lot of the great instrumentals done by simple minds.

  • A Bassit's Delight, most underated album in the past 30 years, little fragile yes anyone

  • extreme67 you're so boooooooring! Fuck you!! Your mother wrote "MIAMI"!!

  • @RobertMarra I always thought "Miami" was wierd but still a good song. And Duran Duran's "Thank You" LP is definitely good too.

  • This song has the genius of Brian Eno to thank...He was sitting at the desk 'twiddling knobs' while Edge and Adam where doing this during a 'break' from recording. It wasn't meant to go on the finished album, but when Bono heard it, he insisted it was included. Good Call!

  • @extreme67 I get that you really like this song, and its cool that you're passionate about it. But spamming it is just going to make people resent you.

  • Am I the only one who sees a nightime arctic frost?

This is a gem of a track.

  • this is fucking sweet!!

  • Soothing!

  • Rolling Stone thinks The Joshua Tree & Achtung Baby deserve their places in the top 100 greatest albums of all time.

But without the magnificent edifice of sound that is The Unforgettable Fire, there would be no Joshua Tree, no Achtung Baby...

  • @Keruaran

    totaly agree

  • @Keruaran 100% agree!! that was their crown jewel, IMO

  • @Keruaran 'Rolling Stone thinks' is a contradiction in terms. And if not, at the very least I don't give a flying rat's azz WHAT they think.

  • @lundehund44 Heh I know what you mean. The main point though was that TUF tends to be a somewhat 'forgotten' album. Perhaps it was the timing (1984), an experimental album at a time when everybody was wearing flourescent colours and listening to well... crap... TUF, apart from 'Pride' and Michael Mann using 'Wire' in an episode of Miami Vice always seemed to fly under the radar a bit and so gets overlooked even though it's a sonic achievement that any band would be justifiably proud of.

  • @Keruaran Eaxctly, The Unforgettable Fire paved the way for the excellence of the Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby!

  • for some reason this song reminds me of The Shining . a creepy , yet cool tune .

  • @squabs217

yeah,a snowy somber place at night is what pops into my head, pretty close to my impression...

  • Bono has made some stupid public moves over the years, but I've never heard an U2 album I didn't like. I enjoyed their experimental albums as much as the classic rock stuff.

  • Yeah , I'm glad Randy Marsh de-throned Bono as World's Biggest Turd .

  • I just didnt want to get attacked by die hard fans U2 fans.... I still like U2 too, but just thought that the genuine earnest nature of the band ended with Joshua Tree. Cheers

  • Did you not like Achtung or Zooropa?

  • I know im the only one but I loved U2 all the way up to Joshua Tree then thats it for me...

  • do you mean to say you're NOT the only one? Because a lot of people share your opinion. I personally don't think U2 is as good as they used to be, but i still like them.

  • @tdog52436

Achtung Baby is/was the peak of U2

  • @flippyflyer - I think I agree with you guys. There early work was just so passionate and frenetic. Unforgettable fire was the first departure as the band "matured," and lost their punk roots. But somehow, the music lost its edge. No pun intended.

  • @flippyflyer:

You're not the only one, I adored them before The Joshua Tree, but I wasn't that fond of ''Tree' - and then thats it for me as well ... War and The Unforgettable Fire are totally marvellous though!

  • @flippyflyer you are not the only one. after joshua tree it got way to poppy for me.

  • @flippyflyer I agree, but I'm more of a stick in the mud,, cos I'm up to the unforgettable fire and no further.

  • the best album they made

  • @renewernke1 30 years on for U2. i agree. out of em all this 1 stands out overall. doesn't sound dated.

  • the beautiful sound of the edge!

  • U2 lot better in the earlyer days. now they changed, and they are too commercial ...

  • this is very beautiful, it is both beautiful but haunting and i love that, like navaho music with that bass. check out tel aviv and tiger tiger by duran duran and tell me what you think. could anyone include the edge solo at end of shadows and tall trees on the LP it is not included on the CD.

  • i listened to them, and i liked both of the songs. Thanks for the recommendation. I wasn't really familiar with Duran duran before I heard those songs.

  • this is one of my favorites very cool

  • instrumental u2 cool

  • one of my favorites

  • I love this track, can just listen to it over and over - Never get bored - Apparantly it came about just by a bit of messing about in the studio with Edge, Adam and Eno. It wasn't meant to go on the album but Bono insisted it was included. Well Done Bono!

  • Very cool! I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing your awesome U2 knowledge. How can you not love these guys?

  • I love this track

  • Me too. It really grows on you, like everything from the unforgettable fire. I hope their new album is as good as that one was.

  • terrance is awesome
