  • was his body ever found, was he ever identified?

  • @kilahchris who asked, "was his body ever found, was he ever identified?"

A: Yes. A few days later it pushed out into the river and was recovered.

  • @TommyIsH080625 why did he kill him self? what is his name i would like to read up on this ?

  • He took an arrow to the knee.

  • Did he stick the landing?

  • If ever id want to kill myself... thats exactly how id want to die!

  • This video makes me lol.

  • Not a suicide? The dude hopped over the railing, ran up to the river and jumped in face first. The family can believe whatever they want, but it doesn't get much more suicidal than that.

  • @PhantomSticky who wrote, "Not a suicide? The dude hopped over the railing, ran up to the river and jumped in face first. The family can believe whatever they want, but it doesn't get much more suicidal than that."

A: In terms of suicide similar to (a) an intoxicated person drives, crashes and dies, and called a suicide rather than a car accident, then YES; or (b) In terms of suicide by willfull act with no meds or psychological issues does an act which causes death then, No.

  • Sometimes families claim a death isn't suicide to collect a life insurance policy that doesn't cover suicide.

  • I live in Niagara Falls and worked at the park. I was cutting grass 50 feet from this incident. The authorities hide it but 40-50 people jump into the Falls to commit suicide on a yearly basis on both sides of the border. This man intentionally hopped the railing, ran to the water and dived in. He was from the area and knew the risks well. This unfortunate incident was a suicide plain and simple !!!

  • @metaletech ... as far as official known deaths, they provide a number which is far less. However, it certainly does not include unconfirmed deaths where the body isn't recovered. Years ago, the NY Times published suicides at the Falls. It is interesting to read some of the descriptions and notes left behind and the back-stories of those who perished.

  • Wonder if this is the guy they just found yesterday while searching for the Japanese woman...

  • @AskCarrieLee wrote, "Wonder if this is the guy they just found yesterday while searching for the Japanese woman..."

A: No. His body was found a few days after he jumped.

  • I regret this immmmmmmedddiatelyyyyyyyyyy......

  • @95dmario wrote, "I regret this immmmmmmedddiatelyyyyyyyyyy......"

Cmt: Many people who fail in dying as a result of their suicide attempt, say later that the regretted the act while it was in progress, such as, while heading toward the water after jumping off the Golden Gate bridge. Most people who use these "point of no return" methods die, so the statements of those who lived is somewhat the only knowledge anyone has about it. Suicide is normally an act of desperation for help.

  • AEEEEEEEE!!!! \o/

  • is he ok?

  • @mickeymouse14 who asked, "is he ok?"

A: He died. His body was found a few days later.

  • @TommyIsH080625 Thanks for the awnserw...4..months l;ater!

  • no way anyone can survive the AMERICAN FALLS because it is to rocky on the bottom

  • lol crazy nigga

  • I remember watching this footage live on tv back in the early 80s

  • I wonder how many bodies they might recover if they drained all the water.

  • @BlGGlE, who wrote "I wonder how many bodies they might recover if they drained all the water."

Reply from Tommy, "Bodies usually get pushed out to the river due to the pressure of the water, within days. Otherwise, churning generally destroys remaining bodies. In 1969 the Army Corps of Engineers drained the Tonawanda (American) Channel (June-Nov), stopping water over the Rainbow Fall aka American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls aka Luna Falls, for repairs and survey; some remains were found.

  • maybe he did it cause he knew hed get free healthcare on the canadian side

  • @beentheredonethatb4 - ref: Of course it was a suicide. The man was a pharmacist. He would know what kind of medication he was taking and the effects. Also if he lived in Tonawanda, that is a 20-30 minute drive to Niagara Falls and after driving that distance, somehow he "accidentally" walks into the water and goes over the Falls by accident?

Reply: Nobody says it's an accident. Over medicated is not a normal state of mind - different than alcohol but both are impairments to self control.

  • he sure caught his wave

  • oh my gud!!!

  • ooohhhh my gud

  • There are easier ways to sneak into Canada.

  • @brandonethington shut up gayboy

  • I wonder if anyone tried to rush to his aid, it seems like they just stood there and watched him die

  • stupid. and dumb. why would u put this thing on utube? >:(

  • ROFLMAO

  • wow....

  • im satisfied now

  • how do you know that this wasn't suicide?

  • @TONYALLENSUCKS - I was contacted by his family. He was on meds. They think he was playing and jumped in like any pool or calm lake. It is believed he somehow over medicated and was not fully cognizant of his actions at the time he jumped in the water. His family firmly believes this was not a willful suicide act.

  • @TommyIsH080625 Why would the family contact you? As I recall this happened quite some time ago. Your profile says you are 24. You would have been a child when this occured.

  • @beentheredonethatb4

ref: @TommyIsH080625 Why would the family contact you? As I recall this happened quite some time ago. Your profile says you are 24. You would have been a child when this occured.

I can only speak to my understanding of why, from messages we exchanged. She was upset I originally called it a suicide - which implies deliberate understanding. Yes, this occurred around 1985. The woman contacted me on here, after I posted this here. YouTube did not even exist in 1980s.

  • @TommyIsH080625 I think families make up excuses because they don't want to believe a loved one commits suicide. What kind of medication was he on? Anti-depressants? Anti-psychotics? People who go over Niagra Falls, jump off of the Empire State Building or Golden Gate Bridge are usually mentally ill.

  • @darlingdino I understand what you're saying. There are various issues. Extreme decisions are often due to physical or emotional pain and fear. That pain and fear can lead to depression, an illness, and it can induce behaviour that isn't the most healthy; and isn't thought-out, such as suicide resulting from intense bullying or imbalanced medication. Suicide due to physical pain and fear: people jumping from the twin towers. Medical suicide in a terminal illness is often more thought out.

  • @TommyIsH080625 That's true, it had to be chronic depression and long thought out in this instance with someone of his medical background. It's the impulsive suicides that are the saddest. They just want to kill the pain they are feeling, not really themselves but they aren't themselves and feel helpless and hopeless of circumstances ever changing for the better. I know, I've been there, but for me it was anti-depressants that made me worse. I was depressed but meds made me suicidal.

  • @TommyIsH080625 And I have to add that once I finally got off of the meds, I had never been happier in my life! There is hope and things do change if YOU want them too.

  • @TommyIsH080625 it would be kool if you could find video footage of jesse sharp going over the falls in a kayak in 1990,I remember following this story and the police were turning off the falls to get him to come ashore but he just paddled around the rocks and went over the falls.I dont think they ever did find his body

  • @digger678 Turning off the falls? What is there, a giant faucet knob that they just turn and the river stops?

  • @bailinnumberguy yes they can shut the falls off-the falls run 2 powerplants and above the falls there are inlets to divert the water to the power plants-and the more water diverted the less that goes over the falls

  • @bailinnumberguy They do control the flow over the falls and allow just enough water to maintain aesthetic. The purpose of diverting the water underground is to reduce erosion and supply the multiple generating stations downstream. Fact is, they did dam and completely shut off the Bridal falls (the section seen in this video) in 1969 for restoration work to prevent erosion. The full project was abandoned before it was completed. Evidence of the project is visible in the talus below the falls.

  • @bailinnumberguy wrote, "Turning off the falls? What is there, a giant faucet knob that they just turn and the river stops?"

A: Not exactly. Water is diverted 50% during daytime in tourist season, and 75% at other times but, they don't and can't divert 100% of it. To inspect and reinforce the American falls, the US Army Corps of Engineers created an earth berm across the channel to divert all water to the Canadian Falls. That's how they turned off the American Falls.

  • @digger678 Yes, that would be a great vid to see. It begs the question of what effect did water diversion have on his demise.

  • Stupid Canadians

  • that was me

  • i like how he just pops up in the backround and nose dives off the falls lol

  • This was shown on a Buffalo NY TV station as it happened some time in 1985. I can remember watching it while I was eating dinner. Definitely lost my appetite.

  • I went out 200 yards off goat isle................... saw a shinney nickel and thought it would bring me luck at the casino! is the guy in the river johnny knoxville?

  • God Bless that man. I did not intend to watch this video, but now that I have I feel really awful for that guy. I didn't even finish watching; it's terribly sad. Poor man.

  • Dear God. How tragic.

  • @kootanaycat. Fair enough your point Is valid yet the reason there should be some sort of method to stop access is because it's one of the most visited places in the world, look at how easy it was to get to the rivers edge. How easy would it be for a child to do the same. It's not a little stream it's niahra falls for goodness sake!

  • Hey to the people laughing at this guy, you guys are jerks, how would you like it if someone pushed YOU in the falls and laughed at you?! I would be laughing because you deserve it. These people DIE from this you idiots! DIE, it's not funny. If you guys think it is, the next time I see your faces I'll PUSH right over the falls to see if you laugh at it.

  • did he do it on purpose? like i imagined it like some dude going for a swim without thinking "hang on a minute i might go over that edge....." not an actual suicide attempt. it was the way he ran into it. i think if he did want to die he wud of jumped in from a bridge or a cliff cos it wud be easier than running at it like he did

  • :( im going to niagra tommarow hope i dont fall in!

  • they say when you jump the falls you end up in oprah's water bottle

  • haaaaaaaaaahaaahaahahhahahahahahahah

  • lol

  • lol what an idiot

  • did he die?

  • sweet i give that a ten

  • As a person who has failed twice at suicide, I sometimes feel that it's one's time.

  • go see a shrink for god's sake

  • you cant fail at suicide

  • u can clearly see him jump in to the water with both arms stretched out, hes clearly jumped in, so that meens he did commit suicide

  • Who even cares about a man anyways...?

  • @teebs70

You are right, so go kill yourself, faggot

  • Hahaha stop bedwetting you emotional goof! The person taking their life is the one who needs to understand compassion and empathy you turd.

  • Was this person's body ever recovered?

  • Yes. It's in the description of the video.

  • morchibaa, YOUR A GOOF

  • Mr.Puglet, how are you able to talk with your head so far up your ass,you have no idea what your talking about, you worthless piece flesh

  • oh my god. I didnt realise you could even access the water edge i would have imagined it was closed off or a barrier or even patrols!

  • It's a river. Anyone can enter the river with an easy walk. At the three sisters' islands, the water goes from 1 inch of calm water, and 15 feet out it's raging class VI rapids.

  • @KrishnaGrelc there is about a four foot space of land between the river and the sidewalk on the american side. there is also a four foot tall fence or so as well.

  • @KrishnaGrelc If we had to barricade every danger in the world from every "over medicated" or otherwise sane person then we would be locked in padded rooms. I hope that you aren't a politician because it's people thinking like you who make this world a place where common sense doesn't have to exist.

  • Thats really sad to think that someone can kill themself.

To think why couldnt they get help for there problems.

Its very sad to see that!

  • Let's all go watch some CHEERLEADER AUTOPSY. Nobody dies in our flick. Wait, a bunch of cheerleaders die...and a coach...and a bus driver...oh, forget it!

  • To the person that posted this video. Why did you feel the need to stress "this is not funny". I do not think anyone thinks this is funny!

  • I did afterward because, early on there were many comments saying, "this is funny."

  • I understand...thanks. I am from Niagara Falls...it is quite sad to see. Guy did not even stand a chance.

  • @TommyIsH080625 This video is a laugh riot!

  • @bradattax dude, what is wrong with you?? this man a had a family and mabye even kids and i'm sure they feel a tad bit different than you do about this

  • he wanted to swim as fast as michael phelps

  • I must disagree with you Mrpuglet,........ sort of. You're right in what you say but there are times when clinical depression can take over and lead you to do things that are far beyond your control. I myself suffer from anxiety disorder and before I was diagnosed I considered suicide several times, even though I have everything to live for. I sought proffessional help and thankfully I was diagnosed before I did something stupid.

  • Suicide is a weak way of escaping life at a tough time. Thats all, there's no other science to it so no need to discuss the topic. People that commit suicide have no respect for the people they leave behind.

  • O.K. this takes me way back. I grew up in the N.F. area and actually saw the original "unedited" report on the news. The reporter gasps "Holy SHIT'!!!

This WAS a suicide!!! the police found his car abandoned in a parking lot with a "note" appologizing to his children. Finding drugs in his system is news to me. If so, it was a drug induced suicide. His body was found many days later on the shores of Lake Ontario near the town of Olcott, NY, about 60 miles away.

  • Thanks for the information.

Suicide has many definitions, and by most it is an act, direct or indirect, where he died as a result of his own actions. From the social stigma of the word suicide as a willful act to knowingly kill oneself, this is not, based on his family's information that he didn't know that what he was doing would result in his death.

  • In any case, it is important to talk about situation like this and others where habits and actions result in death. Is overeating or smoking a case of suicide since they lead to death as a result of illnesses directly related to those acts? Our society wants to categorize everything until nobody is responsible for anything they do. One fact is indisputable, nobody escapes corporal death.

  • Is that the Maid of the Mist you can see in the background when the guy is going over the edge? Wonder if anybody saw it from the boat?

  • Yes it is the Maid of the Mist.

  • i laughed my nuts off

  • anyone who laughed at this is a horrible person

  • @dudeustupid i laughed hahahhaha

  • HAHAHAHA!!! hilarious

  • scum of youtube is enforce tonight. Piles of shit that you are.

  • Oh sorry...thought that was a stupid joke, didn't read the info. I take it back. Dont' fuck yourself.

  • Some of you people have a pretty sick sense of humor if you think this guy dying is funny.

  • @ISteppedOnATurd haha no the guy saying ohh my ghood is funnyy

  • deppression is a fucking joke. i kill myself every week. there's nothing serious about it.

  • @nooiuiu OK. How about you post yourself being suicidal with a pistol. TELL... THE... TRUTH... IDIOTS!!!

  • we all learned a lesson from this act:STAY AWAY FROM MIMES lolololol

  • he knows that there's a camera shoot in the area. then he decided to jump into the nigara fall to get the attention.

notice him at 0:21, hes looking at the reporter.

  • HAHAHAHAHAH perfect form when he went down

  • 2 Falls, Canada's is the Hoseshoe Falls, U.S. is the Falls on the other side, that has all of the rocks at the bottom. The bridal veil is between them beside what is known as Goat Island.

  • @TheDanielj69 Rainbow falls for the US, all the green water and birds way down there. And the fairies. i can see canada and those rides and crap.

  • the video says it was not a suicide, what was it a magic show, you sick fuck, stay the way you are that'll be punishment enough, goof

  • these falls are not called niagara falls you toad stools, it is the american falls, da, the bridal veil falls, da, and the horse shoe falls, da.

  • Collectively its called NIAGARA FALLS

  • da?

  • BAXTER!!!

    haha its Ron

  • its suicide, you saw him jumping

    tho..

    R.I.P

  • LOL, the dude screams "OMG!" and the guys head tilts over for a second before he goes over. What a fucking moron!

  • I think after like 10 posts I get it. You can stop posting about my comment now.

  • lol we all die sooner or later, he just wanted to do it in an exciting way. I bet he said weeeeeee all the way down.

  • HAHAHAHAH that made my day bro.

  • Niagara Falls consists of the Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls, Bridal Veil (Luna) Falls, and Rainbow (American) Falls. The international border passes along the tip of Terrapin Point on Goat Island, NY, which puts much of Horseshoe Falls in Ontario, Canada, and the other two Falls in New York, US

  • That's because it IS the American Falls . . . The American Falls is one of the two major falls that make up Niagara Falls . . .

  • You are a fucking idiot. This was filmed at Prospect Point, which is next at the American Falls. Stay in Vancouver and keep your opinions to yourself

  • thats because there is two sides, canada is one side of the horseshoe curve and America is the other, so who is the idiot?

  • THAT SUCKS BALLS

  • ok. that was kinda wierd. disturbing actually. i cant belive that.

  • This is so sad.

I don't really know how people can find it funny...just seems twisted to me. Dark humour is one thing, laughing at someone's last moments is quite another.

  • What a classic. I remember a buddy of mine, having this on video tape back in the 80's. I still can't stop laughing, and I am not sure why...

  • Because suicide is hilarious, right?

  • did he live

  • His body wasn't recovered dumbshit. There are numerous pieces of broken rock that have fallen to the bottom of the American Falls and I highly doubt anyone could survive that.

  • so your saying he probably died?

  • Yes he died. Common sense would tell you that.

  • are you sure, I think he might have landed in a tree

  • Omfg are you seriously that stupid? HE OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T LIVE! THERE ARE NO TREES THAT COULD HAVE CAUGHT HIM!

  • I thought I saw a few trees down there, he might have made it

  • In the update I made to the description a few months ago, I explain that his family contacted me - I was told that his body was found and medication in his system; at the time he was not fully cognizant of his actions - he was buried.

  • That's great his body was found.

  • lol the reported is a little pussy bitch

  • MYYYY KEEEEYYYYYYSSSSS........

  • i,m surprised they would show that on tv. today there would most likely be a warning before running the clip.

  • The sad part is he went over the AMERICAN falls.

  • Meh, I could survive that

  • Maybe the guy was on drugs, maybe he needed a BRAIN CHIP -CHECK MY SITE

  • you are so stupid

  • Holy shit

  • desperation, sadness, depression ...that's not hilarious. That's sad. Why are people laughing at this video? Maybe if they image someone they care about as suicidal it wouldn't be so funny.

  • yo yo yo rick hardman is gay

  • baahahahahahahhaha "holy shit"

  • lol i live in the falls on the canadian side hahah people jump off the falls here all the time, its like 6 people a month jump hahaha

  • haha lol lmao rotflol hahahaha.

  • how long do you think it takes them to die?

  • lol its true so many people come through there everyday and tons of people get the old heav ho shove or just straight say fuck it after losing all their money at the multiple casinos ahha

  • wait are you serious?

  • LMFAO

  • wtf, why are laughing? This was serious
