As of November 2011, four years after this vid was made, Hossa is still one of the best players of the NHL. While looking at him scoring amazing goals gives a good idea of his ability as a shooter, Hos is, by all means, a complete player. He his big, strong, his ability to control the puck, to work on the boards, to kill penalties, to block shots. A coach can use him on powerplays, PKs, in shootouts, and on any possible line. If I were from Slovakia, I'd be so proud f him !
Marian Hossa's my favorite player felt bad when he lost the first 2 cup finals. I'm a big fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and I was so happy for him when he won it in 2010 with the Hawks. Looks like the 3rd time really is the charm. I'm Canandian but I have to say the slovaks have some awesome players : 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Marian Hossa ( of coarse ) , Marian Gaborik , and 2011 Stanley Cup Champion, Former CHL Prince George Cougars defenceman 6' 9'' 106 mph slapshot, Zdeno Chara Lets Go Hawks
Marian Hossa is one of the best puck persuers in the league, he is one of the most experienced players in the league, he is one of the best shooters in the league, he has been on at least 4 teams that i know of...he is awesome
not a fan, this guy just goes to the team he thinks will win the cup, pittsburgh 3 years ago, detroit 2 years ago and chicago last year, im stunned hes not pushing to go to vancouver
@arsenalmccormack Whats wrong with that? It's not like he demanded trades to go to a contending team. His contract was either up or was traded in his last year. It would be 10x's worse if he went to whatever team would give him the most money.
Such a good pickup on Chicago's part. Amazing player to watch. The power he puts on his shot is way more insane than any 'deke' or 'dangle' in todays game.
Red wings 11 stanley cups. Chicago 4 stanley cups. How has your team done since 1961 chitown2701? You guys win one year and you actually act like its something the wings are not use to. Much respect for Hossa but the hawks are not a good team.
@zxy009 Ah, yes. After eight games, and on a team that has played twice as many games as some teams in the league have played so far. It really doesn't mean much.
@Crymson1 decline? not even. and you cant say hossa choked in the playoffs in 2009 dumbfuck. if you knew ANYTHING about hockey you would know that it is in NO WAY hossa's fault that the red wings lost in 2009. its a team effort idiot. wow you are retarted.
@tqdvorak Hossa himself admitted that he choked in the finals. He produced all of two assists in seven games. So there.
I'm sorry that this most recent attempt of yours to make yourself feel more secure by putting down others has failed. I suggest finding a new street to happiness.
Ive loved this guy ever since he was on the senators...he's had a tough break the last 2 years, but how lucky is it that he's had 3 CHANCES to win the cup, 3rd times the charm....bring one home hossa
thought he was just another avg joe in the nhl till he came to detroit, then i fell in love with him. really dont get to see what hes worth till he plays on the team you watch day in and day out. will def miss him bein on the wings.
And then lose in the finals making it 3 years in a row? Don't get me wrong, Hossa is one of my favourites, especially since he was in Detroit, but he is just not a guy to rest your cup hopes on.
Hopefully Hossa will prove everyone wrong. But if the Hawks keep playing like they are right now they will be a quick easy out for an up and coming team. By the way I could care less for the wings, never made me feel very happy about them for anything.
Ahh you just do not see it. Hossa is very talented. But everyone has critics. The unbelievers will be worshiping Hossa after the playoffs when we drink from the cup.
@MrChicagoblackhawks He goes to teams where he can hid among other superstars imo, but maybe this year will be different. If chigago does win though I think it will be because of Toews and Kane.
Right now I am starting to wonder if the Hawks will be a one round wonder and out the door because we are playing so poorly behind goal. Hossa is a great player but Kane and Toews can burn ya if you allow them any seperation to get open for a great shot.
Hossa doesn't get the respect he deserves, yeah he's never won a stanley cup but he still gives it his all in the playoffs, 2nd in 2008 playoff scoring, besides sid, he was the most consistent player in the playoffs for the pens in 2008, that was the first and to date, only legitimate winger that Crosby has ever played with. 3 time 40+ goal scorer, 1 time 100 point player, 6'2 210 fast goal scorer, not too many of those in the league now is there?.... I'm canadian but admit he's a good one.
@m420carbine4 look at when I posted that comment and now look at when Hossa won his cup. . . your the retard, you made yourself look like a complete stupid dimented fucked up fetus on legs., Dont you have some ass fisting you need to perform on your mom or dads hairy ass.

yeah i totally agree. and im happy that the hawks are now a threat in the central. thats how it is supposed to be. Detroit and Chicago. one of the best rivalries in all of sports. the past 10 years detroit has been dominating, its nice to finally see chicago doing their part in the rivalry.
As long as I could remember, Detroit has ALWAYS been a problem for the Hawks. I hate to say it and I was pulling for them hard, but last year in the playoffs I knew the Hawks were gonna get smoked.
haha yeah i know what you mean. last year i kinda knew the hawks werent as good as they seemed. just cuz it was like that all year. like the hawks would be winning 9 in a row and stuff then they play detroit and couldnt beat em. really its detroit, chicago, and san jose. thats the western conference. or was last year. and detroit just beat up on chicago. but now chicago is an ACTUAL threat. its good for the game.
for sure, the line with Toews, Kane, and Hossa the first time they went out i forgot who it was against, the other team did not get the puck for the entire time they were out. i love it!
I miss Hossa too! I liked it a lot when he played here in Detroit. It was and is sad to see him go esp to play for the Hawks. I hope they appreciate and value the player they have. I dont like that he signed for about what Detroit was going to pay him too... I know he got more to go there but still lol
hey this is detroitfan39. i deleted my other account. but i totally agree. chicago paid him less than 1 million more per year. detroit offered him like a 10 year contract i think and chicago offered him a 12. so really i guess Hossa is making a total of 3 million more when he is done? idk i dont get it. the thing that REALLY pisses me off is that we didnt sign hossa. so we worked on samulesson and hudler. had we known they were both gonna leave, hossa would have been signed instantly and easily.
Yeah, it's a shame you guys didn't sign Hossa. Hudler going away to KHL is also kinda bummer, but honestly, you're better without Samuelsson. That guy THINKS he is a Gaborik or Hossa or Ovechkin, he shoots at the net 10 times a game, never missing the chest of the goalie..
I guess Hossa leaving Detroit isnt such a bad thing, dont get me wrong I love the guy, but having him on the team would fill up ALOT of our cap. Plus im a Chicago fan too so I guess there really isnt much a difference but, how are the BlackHawks gonna sign Kane and Toews ),: when he is kinda of a cap hog lol
that's why the Hawks signed Hossa to a long term deal as his cap number is not as crazy as a result. Hawks will likely resign both Toews and Kane to similar long term deals this season, this appears to be the trend to manipulate/manage the cap.
Gaborik doesn't have a chance, he needs 380 more goals, that won't happen in his career. Marian Hossa needs another 260 goals. Can he do that, now that he's 30? How many more seasons can he play and put up 40 each time as he gets older? It's possible tho.
Peter Bondra was just a model of consistency, health and skill. Neither of the Marian's will measuring up in my opinion.
Hossa is getting old but was and will always be in the top of the class of players. O and don't make fun of my third cousin. That is right I am a Hossa too.
hey genius have you ever played a profession sport. It ruins your body. Do understand how long he is in therapy. Look that up. And you call yourself a fan. List for me the professionals who have passed 35 in sports.
um i play college for a D1 school. pretty much my career in sports is a lot better than yours. and he is in for at least 3 months there saying about 6 months he will be fully ready. which is half the year. lol i do call myself a fan Hossa and Heatley are awesome. and i dont know everyones birthday sorry im not all knowing about that lol but i know a few who were awesome past 35 and a few that still are and awesome...
Datsyuk is awesome and he is over 35. Chara is about 32 same with Iggy. Hull was over 35 when he player, same with Sergei Fed and Shanny is still in the league, Lidstrom is way over 35 Alfreddson, Mats Sundin, Teemu Selanne. and there are a lot more. so as a fan i think i know more about hockey than u probably know about your life. sorry to hurt your feelings
Uhh Datsyuk just turend 31 in July. Fedorov is in Russia. But I agree with u age shouldnt factor into much these days especially how well the players train.
yep u know what i had a brain fart on that 1. i thought of his birthdate wrong. ya if u train well u wont need to worry about age. i mean unless your Chelios haha, but he is still a beast for his age.
He doesn't get along well with his teammates. But I can tell you this, he's an automatic at least 40 goals, and roughly 80 points. He will take Right Wing over on your depth chart passing Kane. And he's one of the most exciting players, playing in the world today. Sooo Fun to watch him work offensively, when you goto his games. And he's incredible on the backcheck(something that was overshadowed in Detroit because Zetterberg and Datsyuk are there, the best Backchecks in the league). 81 is a stud
to be honest, i was pretty pissed when i found out the we (blackhawks) were getting hossa, he just doesnt seem like a team player, i know hes a superstar player who'll net a shitload of goals. but he just seems like hes only out there for himself, not the kind of guy you really want on your team. whatever, ill give him a chance
I wouldn't say he's not a team player, he wants to win as much as any guy out there. But the truth is, he plays his best when he controls the play. He just doesn't show that good of chemisty with his teammates. He's a goal scorer, not a playmaker. You're gonna love him, he's one of the most exciting players in the world to watch play hockey. I'm a Wings fan and it's tough to seem him go.
he is a great player when he played for Detroit. i love the guy 1 of my favorite players of all time. im not mad he left he just wants to win a cup. dont think he will do anything with the Blackhawks. he is screwing them over. 5 mil cap hit wont help resign Toews and Kane next year. but the worst thing about it if he doesnt score another 150 goals in his next 8 years or so he wont be in the Hall of Fame lol
"What can you say about The HOS?" I can say that he's really good at getting teams to the brink of a Stanley Cup and then shitting himself in the Finals. The guy is a cancer, and Chicago would have been better off without him.
i think chicago had a great chance even without hossa, they have all matured, and gotten better, they are young they are fast and have termendous skill ! now with hossa i can honestly say that the blackhawks WILL win the stanley cup sometime in the next 1-5 years!, as long as the young guys like kaner and tazer stick around !, good video too ! (:
Nuž, on ide po peniazoch a v NHL mu dajú rozhodne viac. Tak neviem neviem či sa takých hokejistov ako Hossa, Demitra, Šatan Slovensko na majstrovstvách dočká...
the reason why the redwings lost the cup is because this has been produced zero goals in the stanley cup and he high tailed out of Detroit. good going HOS
Hossa is a terrific player, but i'm upset that he keeps changing teams. Should have stayed with Detroit, i think they have a good chance again to win it next year. Chicago is not going to make it to the finals.
how can you be saying that when the team he went to still made it to the cup final... imo detroit had many chances to win.. so he made a good decision i believe ... he may have lost but still you cant get on his ass about that when he signed before the season even started then made it all the way to the cup final...
For those of you who keep saying that this was a dumb signing, think again. This guy is a phenomenal player and is not injury prone like #24. Havlat was good but this guy is better. Kane, Toews, Keith, and Seabrook will all be signed next year without a doubt. Tallon will have to make some moves via trade or letting people walk like burrish and ladd. The Blackhawks are going to be a very scary team for the next decade and i predict and least 3 cups!! :)
Nope the cap is expected to drop next season and will really hurt the Blackhawks. They may be able to sign those guys, but will have no depth at all. Not to mention Hossa sucks in the playoffs. And don't forget the Pens and Caps will keep getting better with their superstars and will continue to dominate the East. While the Wings will continue to be Cup competitive every year with Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Franzen locked up.
What song? awesome vid btw!

oh definitely. i believe that game was IN san jose. so thats even more impressive. im gonna really miss the hoss. hes a great player.
detroitfan39 2 years ago
hey Detroitfan!
I miss Hossa too! I liked it a lot when he played here in Detroit. It was and is sad to see him go esp to play for the Hawks. I hope they appreciate and value the player they have. I dont like that he signed for about what Detroit was going to pay him too... I know he got more to go there but still lol
hockeytown2009 2 years ago
hey this is detroitfan39. i deleted my other account. but i totally agree. chicago paid him less than 1 million more per year. detroit offered him like a 10 year contract i think and chicago offered him a 12. so really i guess Hossa is making a total of 3 million more when he is done? idk i dont get it. the thing that REALLY pisses me off is that we didnt sign hossa. so we worked on samulesson and hudler. had we known they were both gonna leave, hossa would have been signed instantly and easily.
cousins851 2 years ago

DCMSothe 2 years ago
that's why the Hawks signed Hossa to a long term deal as his cap number is not as crazy as a result. Hawks will likely resign both Toews and Kane to similar long term deals this season, this appears to be the trend to manipulate/manage the cap.

Marian Hossa plz come back to Mora and take us to Elitserien!
allapappa 2 years ago
Gaborik doesn't have a chance, he needs 380 more goals, that won't happen in his career. Marian Hossa needs another 260 goals. Can he do that, now that he's 30? How many more seasons can he play and put up 40 each time as he gets older? It's possible tho.
Peter Bondra was just a model of consistency, health and skill. Neither of the Marian's will measuring up in my opinion.

Hossa is getting old but was and will always be in the top of the class of players. O and don't make fun of my third cousin. That is right I am a Hossa too.
AegisOfTheAges 2 years ago
uh how is 30 old? he still has a good 12 years on him... how would a 3rd cousin not know that lol jk
JuggernautG24 2 years ago
hey genius have you ever played a profession sport. It ruins your body. Do understand how long he is in therapy. Look that up. And you call yourself a fan. List for me the professionals who have passed 35 in sports.
AegisOfTheAges 2 years ago
um i play college for a D1 school. pretty much my career in sports is a lot better than yours. and he is in for at least 3 months there saying about 6 months he will be fully ready. which is half the year. lol i do call myself a fan Hossa and Heatley are awesome. and i dont know everyones birthday sorry im not all knowing about that lol but i know a few who were awesome past 35 and a few that still are and awesome...
JuggernautG24 2 years ago
Datsyuk is awesome and he is over 35. Chara is about 32 same with Iggy. Hull was over 35 when he player, same with Sergei Fed and Shanny is still in the league, Lidstrom is way over 35 Alfreddson, Mats Sundin, Teemu Selanne. and there are a lot more. so as a fan i think i know more about hockey than u probably know about your life. sorry to hurt your feelings
JuggernautG24 2 years ago
Uhh Datsyuk just turend 31 in July. Fedorov is in Russia. But I agree with u age shouldnt factor into much these days especially how well the players train.
vega21 2 years ago
yep u know what i had a brain fart on that 1. i thought of his birthdate wrong. ya if u train well u wont need to worry about age. i mean unless your Chelios haha, but he is still a beast for his age.
JuggernautG24 2 years ago
lol u dont know shit
datsyuk is actually 31

i used to love hossa with ottawa now not so much but he still good sniper
PunkSkaterr 2 years ago
He doesn't get along well with his teammates. But I can tell you this, he's an automatic at least 40 goals, and roughly 80 points. He will take Right Wing over on your depth chart passing Kane. And he's one of the most exciting players, playing in the world today. Sooo Fun to watch him work offensively, when you goto his games. And he's incredible on the backcheck(something that was overshadowed in Detroit because Zetterberg and Datsyuk are there, the best Backchecks in the league). 81 is a stud

Rich0591 2 years ago 3
to be honest, i was pretty pissed when i found out the we (blackhawks) were getting hossa, he just doesnt seem like a team player, i know hes a superstar player who'll net a shitload of goals. but he just seems like hes only out there for himself, not the kind of guy you really want on your team. whatever, ill give him a chance
JRadFSU247 2 years ago
I wouldn't say he's not a team player, he wants to win as much as any guy out there. But the truth is, he plays his best when he controls the play. He just doesn't show that good of chemisty with his teammates. He's a goal scorer, not a playmaker. You're gonna love him, he's one of the most exciting players in the world to watch play hockey. I'm a Wings fan and it's tough to seem him go.
Nodnarb84 2 years ago
he is a great player when he played for Detroit. i love the guy 1 of my favorite players of all time. im not mad he left he just wants to win a cup. dont think he will do anything with the Blackhawks. he is screwing them over.

the reason why the redwings lost the cup is because this has been produced zero goals in the stanley cup and he high tailed out of Detroit. good going HOS
Lorue12 2 years ago
Hossa is a terrific player, but i'm upset that he keeps changing teams. Should have stayed with Detroit, i think they have a good chance again to win it next year. Chicago is not going to make it to the finals.

Is it just me, or does Hossa seem having problems scoring in the playoffs?
Slegnirp 2 years ago
how can you be saying that when the team he went to still made it to the cup final... imo detroit had many chances to win.. so he made a good decision i believe ... he may have lost but still you cant get on his ass about that when he signed before the season even started then made it all the way to the cup final...

Cocknockerofl 2 years ago
For those of you who keep saying that this was a dumb signing, think again. This guy is a phenomenal player and is not injury prone like #24. Havlat was good but this guy is better. Kane, Toews, Keith, and Seabrook will all be signed next year without a doubt. Tallon will have to make some moves via trade or letting people walk like burrish and ladd. The Blackhawks are going to be a very scary team for the next decade and i predict and least 3 cups!! :)
ChiBulls23MJ 2 years ago
Nope the cap is expected to drop next season and will really hurt the Blackhawks. They may be able to sign those guys, but will have no depth at all. Not to mention Hossa sucks in the playoffs. And don't forget the Pens and Caps will keep getting better with their superstars and will continue to dominate the East. While the Wings will continue to be Cup competitive every year with Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Franzen locked up.
