As they say, death comes in threes. In the past month, we've seen Etta James, Don, and now Whitney Houston. Similar to the Michael Jackson-Farrah Fawcett-Ed McMahon in 2009. RIP to all and may eternal life with God prevail in the fullest of love.
Some of the white people on here who are posting racist and crazy remarks are the main ones who tuned in on Saturdays to see this Big Dark Handsome Sexy Black Man and his show . They were the main ones TRYING TO DANCE to black music back then. Such Hypocrites.
Love , Peace , and Soul to the hippest brother on the planet. Don Cornelius is a true African American Icon. I was glued to the t.v. whenever SoulTrain came on. A treasured memory in my life. SOOOOOOUL TRAIN
I'm a white guy who was raised in a white suburb in the white 70s so I won't "front" about being down with black culture back in the day. All I know is that as a kid on Saturdays these dancers brought me joy.
Every articles i've read so far talks about how he brought whites and blacks together and then it dawn on me. I guess non-white\black minorities aren't human beings, don't listen to music nor dance!
It is always sad when someone dies but i think his legacy will continue because people love to dance and dancing brings people together.I'm sure the new generation of young people will continue to follow in his foot-steps. next ,maybe will be called "Seoul Train" ; )
Mr. Cornelius was smooth! I love watching this ,, I believe this was the only time he graced the line with his presence. We must remember our elders once had "swag" .. it's how some of us got it! Wishing you eternal peace, Brother Don. Thanks for years of "cool soul!"
WoW....Don was on he shit, that's the first time I've ever seen him get down wit the get down.I love it R.I.P to the Don for the many years of joy & music u will be missed!
Man they were so fly and cool back in the day, i hate to say but these days we try to hard to be cool and say we got swag but back then they just had it and didnt need to floss like they were cool. and look at Don i never knew he danced on the soul train line. I been catching the replays of soul train. I wish we had something like this now. RIP Don.
I LOVED Soul Train!! I live in Northern Ontario, but I LOVED Soul Train!!! That was our connection to "cool" music, back in the day..... RIP Don Cornelius!!
R.I.P. Don Cornelius! Loved your voice. Used to watch your show when i was a kid on channel 5 in L.A, Now I watch reruns on Bounce TV in Vegas. You will always be remembered. God Bless
the two angels flanking DC after his trip down the line with Mary wilson are the other two 70's Supremes, Jean Terrell(who replaced Diana Ross in 1970) and Lynda Lawrence(the newest Supreme, who had been a singer for Stevie wonder before becoming a 70's Supreme)
I love how DC is flanked by 2 beautiful angels Soul Trainin right into the Pearly Gates!
(Sounds like he was in bad health, so he decided to take his death into his own hands. He had that right.) Thank you DC for your contribution to the best dance and music culture of the world - the 70's!
I heard the news about Don Cornelius, and I broke down and cried. I had just seen a compilation of clippings. He was professional, courteous, Black, proud, opportuned, role model, who had died. Even worse, he died so tragically. He built a dynasty which opened doors, introduced 'soul music' and black dancing to the world. He opened doors. instilled pride, and appreciated the performances of the artists as they contributed to history.
It is definitely safe to say that there are millions of people of all ethnicities
who are permanently and limitlessly thankful to Don for his role and the role of Soul Train in providing a potent music and dance experience that diversified the positive life experiences for television viewers and for people that kept that experience and mindset in their heads when they did activities beyond the show.
Satan was jealous he couldn't be on soul train. Sounds like Don couldn't battle his demons. RIP May you find peace with God. We don't know what you went through but God bless you.
