  • @tsuruokakotaro

  • This program is called Hato no kyojitsu (A Dove's Day Off), and it is used as the sign-on/sign-off sequence for Nittele.

The three doves in the video refers to Nittele, NHK, and Tokyo Broadcasting Services (TBS). They are the first three national broadcasting networks in Japan.

The video does remind me of NBC in the US, with its peacock.

  • Is there a more full length version of 'Hato no kyojitsu' available, or has it been deleted from the Japanese TV archives? Also, what would NBC America think of the ident? Would they like it?

  • Yeah, the bird spreading its wings does look briefly like the NBC logo used in the 1950s and '60s: "The following program is brought to you in living color, on NBC."

  • There's something about those purple doves (pigeons?) that reminds me of the old NBC color peacock...especially when that middle bird takes flight...

Sutoan, have you ever seen the NTV video where some guy in a bird costume spoofs the NTV opening?

  • Nice music.
