  • The solo in this demo is actually very, very, very good. I wonder why Rivers didn't do something in the same style as the solo in this.

  • This song is so fun!

  • Backup vocals that sound like mickey mouse never fail to impress

  • This version needs more cowbell.

  • holy shit that solo

    just spooged, man

  • The snare is indeed very sexy.

  • i love the snare. you guys are on crack

  • i think they should have a ew album come out thats all demo songs. cuz then ppl could really hear what they sound like before the albums come out with the songs all edited and junk

  • what an awesome fucking song.

  • they need to get real and hire matt sharp back

  • That snare drum is just annoying.. i bet when the producer got ahold of this, he was like GREAT! But get rid of that fucking snare drum... use this one.

  • @nickothompson Oddly enough, it's the same snare drum that was used on Blue. It all depends on how you place your mics.

  • gotta love the snare sound on these demos.

  • @girlie347 There is no substance to the newer Weezer music. Especially from Raditude onwards. They're bringing out albums every 6 months it seems. Pumping out albums for the sake of it. 'I'm Your Daddy', 'Where's My Sex?' all this rubbish. The older Weezer music had meaning. It's not being elitist, it's having common sense. Blue and Pinkerton are better quality music. 'Nuff said.

  • solo @ 1:58. Sorry. @ 2:04 notice the change?

  • @mattrockstonic I like the solo in this one more than the one that made it on the album.

  • does the solo sound different from the final Blue mix or different altogether? 2:06. longtime fan. i can tell differences? wish Rivers would get back to his pseudo fem/twee singing style. it's sorely lacking nowadays for the worse. the juvenality in this version is amazing.

  • can someone please tell me where I can get The Kitchen Tapes, which is the demo that this is off of? Thanks!

  • i will always love the grungey poppyness of pinkerton. theres no other album in the world like it!!!

but blue still holds #1 i think.

  • This song is so awesome, let's be honest. I love their self-mocking-ness though, it's ace, this demo's drum sounds as if they've sampled someone hammering a nail into a piece of wood.

  • where did you find these demos!?! :D

  • I think the demos are cool. There is such a noticable difference between the demos, but then I started thinking more about the album released and realized the producer had a lot to do with sound. Well obviously, but for this particular producer, Ric Ocasek from the cars, he produced the Rock for light album for the Bad Brains. You can hear the similarities since they are both relatively loud bands and there sound seems compressed. Agree? Disagree?

  • BLUE!

    first album all the way.

pinkerton means nothing to me at this point...

  • @BagpipeHustler are u kidding?

  • @BagpipeHustler No offense but are you high?

  • @extmalcolm No offense... lol... why would anyone take offence to "are you high"....lol... I love it when people say" no offence, but" and then follow it by something really offensive...ROFL!

  • @nickothompson I love it too. Thats why I do it.

  • @extmalcolm And I know you didn't ask me.. but YES I AM!

  • wow!! where did you get these demos?!

and how can i get them on audio?

    thanks for posting.

  • good music is good music. regardless of age :]

  • one of my favorite weezer songs...thnx for the demo

ps, nothing beats the blue album

  • pinkerton does

  • 1. Pinkerton

    2. Blue

  • The Red album was ....pretty terrible but for some reason i have to keep buying the albums, like i'm going to buy raditude but at the same time it's like......really,please release something good

  • more weezer demos on my channel

    =W=

  • the reason that weezer is so good is becuase their songs rock and they are a blast to listen to, they suck you right into their music, but its so simplistic, it baisically means they rock as song writers

  • ChumpJoe i totaly agree with you on the albums

  • Two best Weezer albums.

    1. Blue

    2. Pinkerton

The rest are too mainstream and are too poppy. If a 13 yr old teenie enjoys a Weezer record you know it's not one of those two.

  • i disagree i'm 14 and those are both my favourites. i talk shit about gay preppy music and when i heard the red album i was disgraced. i miss the screaming guitar the passion now it's just ridiculous douchbaggery

  • Ha I was 5 when I listened to those. Definitely my favorite albums of all time. I still listen to then. I even learned a few of them on guitar finally. And now I'm 14. Except I don't think I'd call their new songs gay because I respect them too much. They don't have those inspiration of passion anymore because Rivers got a wife. He doesn't feel alone anymore, so no more "feeling alone" songs.

  • such assumptions as this r what is wrong with humanity, let your notions go, stereotyping is 4 idiots

  • but, pinkerton IS my favorite.........

i think it's so amazingly cool, how personal the songs are.........

    im 13...........

  • why did you include your age lol

  • i meant to reply to someone elses comment who was saying younger people don't appreciate their earlier music. Thats y i included my age

  • lmao.

  • This is not true, I am 16 now but i got into Weezer when I was 12 and Blue was my favorite album until I turned 15, now it is Pinkerton.

  • Here's the deal, as I see it. Blue and Pinkerton are infinitely more personal, which gives them a lot more gravity and meaning, whereas the 5 newest albums are almost an entirely different band. I don't think the new music is as good, but I still love it, because I like Rivers enough that even going as poppy and experimental as he has is fine, because he can still write the catchy melodies and come up with cool ideas for songs.

  • and in case you're wondering, I own every Weezer album except Maladroit, which I'll get next time I have some extra cash.

  • @miraclegro130 i cried to a weezer song... cried! i never ever cry to music. thats the feeling weezer gave me in those days, these first 2 albums are very VERY personal to me. weezer was just.... so great.

  • @miraclegro130 i agree. the blue album and pinkerton are by far my favorites..

  • @girlie347 Whoa whoa whoa, a bit harsh don't you think? Did it ever occur to you that people grew up with the first two Weezer albums and as a result prefer them to the newer albums?

  • @girlie347 check your facks rivers now calls the first two albums deep and a huge risk that paid off

  • @girlie347 you're fucking insane bitch!

  • three of their albums are self-titled, but go by colors; red, blue, and green

  • This is a really awesome demo this is such a good song

  • They might be easy to play, but it's incredibly hard to write something this good.

  • I've played guitar since I was 12, and this is totally correct. I mean, I can play some Van Halen songs, but I could never write anything as good.

Playing is easy, creating is much harder.

  • i agree. i am 12 but ive been playing since i was 10.

  • Exactly. That's a concept many technically proficient musicians can't seem to understand.

  • Why does it sound different from the CD? Love this song. Is this a live stripped version? Something of the sort?

  • It's a demo.

  • Obviously.

  • rivers is such a good vocalist.

  • he's good at everything else and i'm not just saying that...guitar, piano, drums, songwriting, arrangement, everything

  • lol you forgot harmonica!

  • Not to disagree..but these songs are pretty easy.

  • yeah, but how easy is it to write a song as good as this?

  • not so easy!!!

    hahaha!

you asked the right question...lcheers blood broski!!!

    _BC-A

  • so when will u b selling millions of albums & we b listening 2u?

  • Do you think everybody who is good at playing music "sells millions" of albums. how old are you? Cause you sound like your twelve and really rather naive about reality. So really you should go ask your dad, i dont have time to raise idiots on the internet.

  • I have never heard these demos and I have been pretty down with the boots (kitchen tapes, etc.) for quite some time. I'm assuming these are Blue Album demos. Is Cropper on these?

  • yeah if these are demos then Cropper would still be on these. He didn't leave the band until partially through the recording of the Blue Album itself. Rivers then recorded over Cropper's recordings for the cd in one day, one try each. Rivers is freakishly talented

  • Thanks for uploading this, it has that nice "raw" sound..almost like if you were watching them practice in the basement or the garage. Very cool

  • this is awesome

  • Sweeeeeeeet. Thanks for uploading!
