i think they should have a ew album come out thats all demo songs. cuz then ppl could really hear what they sound like before the albums come out with the songs all edited and junk
That snare drum is just annoying.. i bet when the producer got ahold of this, he was like GREAT! But get rid of that fucking snare drum... use this one.
@girlie347 There is no substance to the newer Weezer music. Especially from Raditude onwards. They're bringing out albums every 6 months it seems. Pumping out albums for the sake of it. 'I'm Your Daddy', 'Where's My Sex?' all this rubbish. The older Weezer music had meaning. It's not being elitist, it's having common sense. Blue and Pinkerton are better quality music. 'Nuff said.
does the solo sound different from the final Blue mix or different altogether? 2:06. longtime fan. i can tell differences? wish Rivers would get back to his pseudo fem/twee singing style. it's sorely lacking nowadays for the worse. the juvenality in this version is amazing.
This song is so awesome, let's be honest. I love their self-mocking-ness though, it's ace, this demo's drum sounds as if they've sampled someone hammering a nail into a piece of wood.
I think the demos are cool. There is such a noticable difference between the demos, but then I started thinking more about the album released and realized the producer had a lot to do with sound. Well obviously, but for this particular producer, Ric Ocasek from the cars, he produced the Rock for light album for the Bad Brains. You can hear the similarities since they are both relatively loud bands and there sound seems compressed. Agree? Disagree?
@extmalcolm No offense... lol... why would anyone take offence to "are you high"....lol... I love it when people say" no offence, but" and then follow it by something really offensive...ROFL!
The Red album was ....pretty terrible but for some reason i have to keep buying the albums, like i'm going to buy raditude but at the same time it's like......really,please release something good
the reason that weezer is so good is becuase their songs rock and they are a blast to listen to, they suck you right into their music, but its so simplistic, it baisically means they rock as song writers
i disagree i'm 14 and those are both my favourites. i talk shit about gay preppy music and when i heard the red album i was disgraced. i miss the screaming guitar the passion now it's just ridiculous douchbaggery
Ha I was 5 when I listened to those. Definitely my favorite albums of all time. I still listen to then. I even learned a few of them on guitar finally. And now I'm 14. Except I don't think I'd call their new songs gay because I respect them too much. They don't have those inspiration of passion anymore because Rivers got a wife. He doesn't feel alone anymore, so no more "feeling alone" songs.
Here's the deal, as I see it. Blue and Pinkerton are infinitely more personal, which gives them a lot more gravity and meaning, whereas the 5 newest albums are almost an entirely different band. I don't think the new music is as good, but I still love it, because I like Rivers enough that even going as poppy and experimental as he has is fine, because he can still write the catchy melodies and come up with cool ideas for songs.
@miraclegro130 i cried to a weezer song... cried! i never ever cry to music. thats the feeling weezer gave me in those days, these first 2 albums are very VERY personal to me. weezer was just.... so great.
@girlie347 Whoa whoa whoa, a bit harsh don't you think? Did it ever occur to you that people grew up with the first two Weezer albums and as a result prefer them to the newer albums?
Do you think everybody who is good at playing music "sells millions" of albums. how old are you? Cause you sound like your twelve and really rather naive about reality. So really you should go ask your dad, i dont have time to raise idiots on the internet.
I have never heard these demos and I have been pretty down with the boots (kitchen tapes, etc.) for quite some time. I'm assuming these are Blue Album demos. Is Cropper on these?
yeah if these are demos then Cropper would still be on these. He didn't leave the band until partially through the recording of the Blue Album itself. Rivers then recorded over Cropper's recordings for the cd in one day, one try each. Rivers is freakishly talented
The solo in this demo is actually very, very, very good. I wonder why Rivers didn't do something in the same style as the solo in this.

@nickothompson Oddly enough, it's the same snare drum that was used on Blue. It all depends on how you place your mics.

Two best Weezer albums.
1. Blue
2. Pinkerton
The rest are too mainstream and are too poppy. If a 13 yr old teenie enjoys a Weezer record you know it's not one of those two.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Rivers hates gays like you that keep going on and on about the first two albums.
The newer albums are much better, especially the green one, maladroit and the red one.
Retards that say Pinkerton is the best are nothing but elitists, trying to act cool by repeating what they read from another retard on youtube.

They might be easy to play, but it's incredibly hard to write something this good.

I've played guitar since I was 12, and this is totally correct. I mean, I can play some Van Halen songs, but I could never write anything as good.
Playing is easy, creating is much harder.
