This game deserved more praise...it was released at such a bad time, that's why nobody paid attention to it....but out of all the wild games that was made, this was the best one and still is the best one in my opinion.
4 totally sucks. I stopped playing it because while it didn't suffer from discovery of new places, it suffered from sensible continuity and poor plot.
Out of every battle theme in every game I have ever played, this is the only one that has never become boring. In fact, the more I listen to it, the better it gets.
My only complaint with this game was that it got boring wandering around a wasteland sometimes. Everything looked exactly the same, save for that one area surrounding Ygdrassil (sp?). I mean, I KNOW that was the whole point - but I do like a little graphical variety in my RPGs. Still a terrific game though.
@LaharlD2 Monowheel! <3 Although I did like the horses better, and being able to fight horseback was pwning. WA5's costumes were an awesome touch. If you have access to a PSP, I highly recommend WA XF, it feels like a nice blend of 1/3/5.
@countrybluegrass Well WA2 would have been #2 if all characters started at lv1. Starting characters at higher levels later on in WA2 diminished those characters getting skill points. Everytime you build a level, you get skill points. I'm just saying all characters will not get a fair amount of skill points because you get them at a higher level.
Did anyone else time their command input with the intro to this theme? You know, where it goes dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-DUN.
It has seven beats and you had to make eight button presses if you wanted everyone to attack. As long as you took care of one button press as soon as the song started, it worked out.
Yeah, it's a little weird and less than perfect, but I liked doing it. I just want to see if I'm the only one.
V I admit is very good. But I like 1 an 3 the best since I preferred the original system the series used. I recommend you try the 1st WA. really deep game. The original doesn't hold well over time in terms of graphics. but that's not important. Everything else about the game rocks. I would recommend the remake of WA1 called Alter Code F but I've heard bad stuff about it so I'd look it up before buying it.
Too many differences and flaws in the remake so far that I found... Can't even finish it...
But... You can use 3 more characters, Calamity Jane, Emma, and I think even... Zed! :D That's one thing to look forward to anyway.
There's too many differences between concept art, sprites, remake characters, and all sorts of stuff though... I thought Emma was supposed to have black hair according to the original sprite. She just looks weird in the remake...
My friend had the original Wild Arms The only version I could find was the remake Alter Code F so I never got the chance to play through the original. I thought it was a good game, even when I have nothing to compare it too.
lol all this talking brings back memories of this game the unique system in three battles were cool. i rember how each turn passes and the char and monsters would change positions by running around the feild or wen ur on hoarse back you would gallop through the fight :D
This is a great game! I especially love the music of the Wild Arms music. This game had many memorable tracks. One problem, I've played Wild Arms 1, 2, 3, and 5, so I don't have any input on 4. Anyone know if it was any good?
Wild Arms 4 is much like 5. The hex system is in place for the battles again. The only difference is that you don't have a big free roaming world. If you play it you'll see. However it is a good game but the story is kinda sad (weak).
Dont forget WA 1,2 & 3 is much alike on battle system as well. Each series gets more enhance. Im hoping Media.Vision make WA6 with even more enhance Hex system.. I Have all WA Series bside the org WA1. All els i have witch include Alter Code F. Tho im planning to get WA1 off of PSN soon but im limited to the time at the moment.
I agree. The hex system is fairly unique as I have yet to see any implemented in any other RPG's outside of maybe strategy but those are more grid than hex. I actually think it's a great improvement over the typical turn based style so many others have.
The thing about turn-base if we look back on NES/Sega/SNES/SegaG.. they usely all have the same battle system style. Agree unique battle system makes it more fun an time to chatch on. FF7,8 & 9 have active turn base. They may look diffrent but they r all the same. FFX has a fast pace system witch i like most out of. With jRPG this gen they are mixing it all up with fast pace, active turn base, time-base, an even FF13 look like another fast pace battle system.
Got that one. Though i dont have the 2nd one. I pretty much cant resist the Higher than can be carried by wings battle theme since its actually with a dragon! 1 battle against 2 or more battles with since you decide if you want to fight or not after that.
Wild Arms is one of my favorite game series because it combines two of my favorite genres of all time. Japanese Sci-Fi and the Old West. Amazing combo.
Brings back so many memories.
