Y bien¡
What really impress me of all this, it´s how when he sings the last song, there, in the middle of an interview, he assume some kind of spanish accent , which gives an exact colour to the song. I make this comment because it´s possible that people who don´t know spanish, aren´t able to appreciate this so remarkable detail.
@mauriciomille Oh, ok, thanks,...And, do you know around how much does the greatest and best tenors, as pavarotti, carreras, bocelli, domingo, etc. charnges per their concerts???....thanks
@emiliotenor4life It is a song "Tani" by Gerardo Monreal. "
If I get a chance in the future I will... however this extract is one of the more interesting snippets. Have a look at my other clips "A Year in the Life of Placido Domingo" which is another documentary from the 80's and I've fully uploaded it. :-)
Wow, his parents could sing so well too, and Placido really looks like his dad.
If he was born in Spain but really grew up in Mexico, I wonder if he pronounces his name "Pla-thee-do" the European way or "Pla-see-do" the Latin American way.
He pronounces it "Pla-thee-do", I think.....check out Julia59's clips with Carol Burnett, he introduces himself to her, and I'm sure he says "Pla-thee-do"
Thanks for posting this video. Amazing true story of the difficulty of being an artist and living with the family. Also, we can see the extraordinary musicality of Domingo (and his family).
Pavarotti has a beautiful voice but I would rather listen to Placido. So if you prefer Pavarotti please go to his web sight and leave us to enjoy the beautiful voice of Placido. Thanks for posting this most interesting one of my favorite.
My name is Kiki, and i was raped before i died. I use to enjoy pain and now i inflict it upon people. I was tortured and raped untill i could no longer breathe. Those bastards now suffer and die, and those who do not repost this to 5 videos will die too. At the strike of 12AM, those who did not repost this will die a horrible death after seeing a bloody face covered with long black hair. Those who repost this will receieve a kiss from their crush

@Milordvega Most of the time, he'll pronounce it "Pla-thee-do", but I have heard him switch to "Pla-see-do" once in an interview.

Sorry, I've tried something.
The song is from Luisa Fernanda and calls Los vareadores. It's on the wonderful Romanzas de Zarzuelas - album or on Luisa Fernanda.

I think is called "mi morena" from a zarzuela called "luisa Fernanda"

Pepe's biological mother is a member of San Diego Opera chorus. I met her in 89 when I was the chorus. I don't know if she is still with them.
codyb73 3 years ago
Pepe is Placido's first child from a very brief marriage when he was in his teens.

Wonderful! What a pleasant video. I love many Opera singers but Placido is my very favorite. Seeing him at home with his family is so heartwarming.
But I wonder, who IS Pepe??? I can't figure it out. Anyone know?
bookworm1818 3 years ago 22
Pepe (Jose) is the oldest son of Maestro Domingo, born during Domingo's first early short marriage.
julia59 3 years ago
Thank you, Julia! I always knew about Jose, no idea they called him Pepe though. How come the nickname?
bookworm1818 3 years ago
It's simply diminutive from Jose, like f.e. Bob/Robert. :-)
julia59 3 years ago
josep..pepe.. i'm italian and josep is giuseppe and the nickname is peppe... so in spanish i think it's the same
toghissima 3 years ago
@bookworm1818 You probably know it by now that Pepe is Placido's son from first marriage, it's in his book "My first 40 years".
