It's a conspiracy, man. It's proof that there's a helicopter in the air. Do you think they fly over one weekend a month and two weeks a year? Tell you what... draw a line on a map from Akron-Canton airport to Camp Perry. Imagine that Wadsworth on a flight path. This unit is going to Afghanistan later this year; let's hope they ALL come back. I think the pilot has other things on his mind than waving a you.
Why you see them over Wadsworth is because the pilot of 103 lives there and often circles his home so his four kids can see Dad and wave. This is the National Guard and there base is at the Akron/Canton airport. They have been armed and are scheduled to go to Afganastan later this year. A few years ago he landed the Chinook at a Wadsworth ball field, for the grade school kids to tour on recess. P.S. Note, a pilot landing one of these is way too busy to wave to spectators. Don't be offended.
I have lived next to the Ravenna Arsenal for over 40 years. They have been flying Chinooks, Hueys and Cobras in and out of that place since I was born. If they are "conditioning" then they have been doing it for over 40 years. Try standing in the middle of your cornfield and have a C-130 Hercules blow the roof off of your house as they make approach to the Arsenal for a Low Drop.
@TheSovietSteel Also, this need not be an Ohio guard unit, as many national guard units from around the country travel to other states to perform maneuvers, just as the 107th out of Akron used to travel to Camp Grayling in Michigan. The 103rd Airflift out of Connecticut operates Chinooks.
There is a National Guard base at the Akron Canton Airport which they might be based out of. They are obviously in training & are flying to local landing spots to get better at their craft. Think of these guys as "guardians of your freedom to speculate" but the reality is that they have families & regular civilian lives and often end up getting sent to Iraq or Afghanistan to get shot at.
There is a National Air Guard Reserve base in Canal Fulton, OH, down by Akron Canton Airport. They are very active, so it might be going down there, or coming from that area.
no way, you have to message me back, i have seen a ton of those in missouri, that is insane, they fly low like that too, i swear to god, they show up maybe 2 or 3 times a week
@chocalotstarfish Noto talking about the 2 pilots in the cockpit when it only takes 1 to fly it ya stupid fuck! I was talking about the guy sitting in the open rear cargo ramp tethered in ya 6th grade half wit! Maybe the next time they're at the airport, you can come up and we can discuss your smart ass comment in private
I am curious... What other markings are on a military helicopter?? I am guessing 103 is part of its serial number...... By the way if you dont stand at the approach end of a runway it will not "fly right over ya"....... Wow... I mean really how do you think pilots stay proficient, they fly!!!!
Mattsgirl, lets be honest. This is obviously some special operations unit conducting reconnasiance on this area of Ohio. You heard the videographer, they come by every 3 or 4 days, fly a few approaches, then they disappear...... Must be that new cloaking technology that the military has been working on... I wouldn't be surprised if they were spying on us! And, they didn't even wave! It isn't like they have their hands on the controls, those Chinooks fly themselves (or so I've heard).
Just wanted to let everyone know that these chinooks are from Akron/Canton. They are army guard and they train around the area all the time. Thats their job. I love the sound of them, one day soon we wont get to hear them because they will be over seas for a year. :(

If you see a unmarked black chinook, flying low, get your Barret .50 and shoot him.
They are not Navy, Army, USAF, or someting, does not officially exist.
