@royraymund it's WAAAY too far away. the way they find planets is by filming nearby stars and every time there's a shadow that conflict with the direct view or the star, it's either a meteor, moon or maybe a planet. they detected this planet the same way. how they found out theres oceans, i don't know, but I bet you they are on the way to the planet this very moment. it just takes a hella lot of time :)

Hmmmm... If Hubble can take images of far distant galaxies, I do think that pointing it at Gliese would and could provide some picture form of the planet... But I suppose that would all depend upon how far Hubble must travel in order to get the first glimps of the planet, and whether or not life could exist there, IE if water filled, Land mass if any etc.
