My friend tried to do this at the bar once. I slapped his hand down before the bartender could see it and told him that if he ever did that again we couldn't go drinking together.

To people who complain about trying to get a drink, it is easy. Don't be a douche. I have never had problems getting a drink at a bar. Just be patient the first time, they are busy as fuck. Then be prepared with your order and tip well. If you do it right, you will get served right away everytime after that.

A good bartender remembers your drink at the 2nd round or if you mixed it up, they are not upset by that.. They can tell by the way you place your glass if you need service.

A good bartender is good in math and doesn't take advantage of drunk patrons ;)
