I remember the whole "Jerry Gerbicoli "fiasco because I used to live in West Chester PA and watched KYW News. Actually I remember it even got the attention of Howard Stern (he had just entered the Philly market back then) and Stern was all over it and of course the John De Bella debacle.I really liked Diane Allen, she did a great job and seemed a step about the typical anchor news reader. I know that many viewers urged her to run for office ! I also liked Pat Chirocci,Carol Erickson,Gary Gears!
"The Rumor" was discussed on Michael Smerconish's morning program before he went national. It was established there that it was all second or thirdhand information without a real firsthand source. Nonetheless, the damage was done and Penacoli had to leave, we THINK for that reason.
Diane Allen looked so young back then. I remember seeing her on TV all the time, especially more so on KYW. Now she's a New Jersey state senator for the district I live in. Man...how time flies.
