  • Cornell Blakely was from Greenville, SC. He migrated to Detroit in the late 50's and hooked up with Barrett Strong who helped him get recorded on Fulton Records. In the 80's and 90's Cornell became a deejay in Upstate SC and eventually owned his own station in Newberry, SC. I think Cornell is dead now.

  • You Know When I Bought This One,I Thought It Was Just A Regular Detroit R&B,But Didn't Know It Was A Group Record

  • Thanks For The Info About Him Kenroy

  • @kenroy1000 This sounds like the same gentleman I met 2 weeks ago at the 3rd Anniversary of the Shoeless Joe Museum in Greenville, SC: "Cornell "Old Corn" Blakely, a former Negro Leagues player and longtime manager of WKMG, a rhythm-and-blues radio station based in Newberry, South Carolina, also talked about his career in baseball and the music industry, rubbing shoulders with everyone from sports legends such as Jackson and Satchel Paige to Motown greats Percy Sledge and Sam Cooke."

  • @kenroy1000 In other words: He is most certainly NOT dead. (:

  • I have this on 45 along with the Five J's on Fulton.
