Not many know that the guy playing on the flute is Arunmozhi, a very accomplished singer himself who's given quite a few hits for Illayaraja and has sung over 100 songs in Tamil fims.
My favourite songs of his were "Naan Enbadhu Nee Allavo" , "Neelakuyile" from Soora Samharam and "Nee thaana Nee thana" from Thalaatu Padava and many more. Highly underrated singer who could have achieved great heights. Wasn't to be :-(
that Ilayaraja Sir lastly given a 30 year long due (National recognition) - Padma Bhushan by Govt of India.
But still Govt of India is like sleeping until Honouring Ilayaraja Sir - Bharat Ratna in years to come to put him in list below :-
M. S. Subbulakshmi
Lata Mangeshkar
Bismillah Khan
Bhimsen Joshi
Truely this Indian film composer, singer, lyricist and the first Asian composer to score a symphony with over 4,500 songs and 900 film BGM scores -- deserve it.
This song was originaly sung by S janaki & SPB. I wonder why she is not here. The song sounds completly different to the original one. What i feel is Chitra is not bringing out the expressions as S Janaki does. Can See the stress in chitra's face trying to sing in a high pitch. But i ve never seen S janaki like this. She sings without any stress. Always with a smile.
I beg to differ!! Chithra Chechi has done 100% justice to this song.. She has her own style and she sung in that... I find that she was more expressive than Janakiamma in the charanam... loved it...
this is an amazing song and composition with every note. Another observation is, how is SPB able to maintain the age is in his voice? he has been singing for a loooong time hasn't he?
the first violin start is so catchy. ilayaraja uses very peculiar sounds to make it unique and very different from other kind of music. no wonder he is the trend-setter.
hats off to Raaja Sir,that violin piece(prabhakar),thavil solo(sundar),that claps...spb,chitra....
