@Syboltleffert No you don't, but you should really check out the final video titled "Fractal Z=((Z^3+3Z(C-1)+(C-1)(C-2))/(3Z^2+3Z(C-2)+(C-1)(C-2)+1))^2 "
Um, I doubt I would call this an optical illusion. Looks more like various visual artifacts, mostly from the moiré effect, and some from compression (and perhaps antialiasing).
@onefineline Please watch the final piece it is only like an optical illusion. I would say it is more akin to a hermann grid than a moire. There are only any true compression artifacts towards the end and that is because I had to make the video less than the original 20 GB.
No what you are seeing is a fractal the result of a math equation. Sometime this month I will upload the final draft which has an explanation in the opening titles.
So the quality of the ending is improved but youtube must process the file with some additional compression because it is definitely different from the video I have on my hard drive. I may explore using vuze (formerly the bit torrent client azureus to distribute a 1080p version of the film. We'll see my primary goal is to get it ready for entry into some experimental friendly film festivals this fall. So I would definately appreciate your comments!
Whatever it is, it is weird and very interresting. Wonderfull.
