-ever the word raghead is used in this context by soldiers, it is almost guaranteed to mean the enemy, i.e. the taliban, not the civilan population. they are the victims, sometimes getting shot or blown up by both sides, and intimidated and bullied by the taliban, just for accepting help or medical care from our side. so, don't take offence at the word raghead being used, just because it appears racist, doesnt mean the army will stop using it.

its not to offend them. far from it. there are sikhs in the british army, and they wear turbans. and, honestly, i could not have more respect for someone who has to wear a turban and chooses to join the british army. it shows balls. but raghead is directed specifically at the enemy. most squaddies arent racist, but will use a term seen by civilans as racist, because theyre lives are at risk every day.

basically, some things that happen in the army cannot be understood by civilians who have never witnessed them or had to put up with what soldiers do. there will always be things that civilians find distasteful, but they really should be less meddling by civvies of the army. it compromises operational effectiveness.

well in the end of the day i think that the SA80 is more robust and is a hell of a lot lighter you can easily carry it in vehicles and on foot yes it is a smaller caliber but at lest it can give a more sustained fire power and has the option of fully auto

They probably are using the M4 equivelant, when i was at the NATO hq we had range days, we used the SA80 our issued weapon but if we had americans, canadians or germans with us on the range we would get to put a few down range with their gats too :) those were the days :( miss them now.
