the head is leveled with the center of the screen so you don't have to adjust the aim vertically to aim for the head. the hitboxes are different too I think...

@flamethower5 Ur probably just one xbox guy that has never touched CS:S. CS:S takes alot more skill than call of duties and in CS:S u need to hit the head. Its not aimbot or anything. To be this good at CS:S u need to have really good reflexes. I've played 962h of CS:S, 752h of MW2 and around 500h of Cod4. And I can say, Call of Duties don't take even nearly so much skill that CS:S does.
