It's cool how Mirror's Edge changes the conventional knowledge of the color red. Instead being used to show danger, it's applied to the level design as a place of importance. Showing the player where to go next. Excellent change to the study of Color theory DICE.
Are the controls hard to learn? I would be playing it on PC with keyboard and mouse, but I played all Prince of Persia games on PC so I'm familiar with the general style of controlling a character I think. I mean just, is it hard to learn all the available moves or is it easy?
@Altairograph: The controls do take a while to get used to on a keyboard, hence why I never bothered to use it. Instead, I'm using a wired XBox 360 controller and wouldn't you know it: The game has built-in settings that automatically recognize a 360 controller, hence why you see 360 button interactions on screen. Basically, this game is a port.
If you do use the keyboard, you'll have your standard FPS "WASD" setup. Attack with the left mouse button, and disarm with the right one.

This seems like a nice game. I dont really like games that are to "Hollywood" but still, this game has some good run away scenes, I like the idea that you cant always defend yourself in some situations and you just have to run and make time, to some extent.

Whatever platform you're playing on, you hold a certain button [on the 360 it's the B Button, but I have the PC version], and it points you towards where you need to go, though how you get there is up to you. The red highlighted stuff usually helps you get to where you need to go, but don't rely on them too much.
Do you even read what I'm saying? I knoew you can turn it off, I know about the difficulty, what I'm saying is that gameplay vids shouldn't be played with the rediculous handicap called runner's vision on because people who don't know about the game don't always know you can turn it off and geuss what? With a gameplay video 90% of your audience is going to be the people who have never played before and want to find out about it, so they wouldn't know. At least mention it in the description.
@Monster13ash: Well, I honestly have to say that you're among the first person I've come across here who actually has a problem this game's specific feature. Therefore I did not think having Runner's Vision on was a big deal.
Although you're right about each newcomer's assumptions about this game, they also have [or at least should have] at least 2 brain cells to simply ask if this feature can be turned off [which I will gladly answer "yes" to], and read a few reviews of this game online.
@tejasnevgi : Well, you lucked out with this game since it doesn't have such an option, though I know what you're talking about. This game is fixed to a 16:9 aspect ratio, so basically if you play on a resolution that's not 1280x720 or 1920x1080 then you'll see a black bar to fill in your screen.
I have a 1680x1050 resolution monitor, so it's the same thing for me. Through NVIDIA drivers, I can set the GPU to fit the image on the entire screen regardless of scaling. Maybe you can do the same?

I didn't go over this level very much. The only hard part for me was the beginning and fending off Ropeburn at the right time. Everything else was cake.
On the 360, you press & hold the red B button and it'll point you to the right direction. Also, after doing a level a few times, you kinda memorize it.

@exlHD : I have to say it's one of a kind. This game is not meant to be a shooter, since it barely plays like one. If this game wasn't so under budgeted, overlooked, and so rushed, it would've been a great game. If you plan on getting it, I say buy it for as cheap as you can get it or rent it.
This game's story is solid enough to hold ground, and the graphics are certainly pretty. But the voice acting and the cutscenes could've been better; they remind me of eSurance commercials here XD

@nilsodor : Well, this was a fresh reinstall on my PC, so at the time I could only play on Normal. On hard all that changes is that the red color goes away except on enemies and the doors , and maybe the AI is a little smarter.
But otherwise I can almost easily get away without hurting any of the guards, except probably at the shard, since it almost isn't a choice.

Seriously, I played this game 4 times... Sad its such a small game.
It was one of the most "beautiful" games ever .. The graphic textures were of simple color but still looked awesome with the reflections and bloom.

Well, let's apply that logic to every other game out there: GTA IV is boring because all you do is kill people; Batman: DA is boring because you're basically kicking ass; NFS: Shift and even a racing game like Midnight Club 2 are boring because all you do is race around in a car. Mario is boring because you're rescuing a bitch of a princess...

@ZyioScalebane : I just like variety is all, and this is one of them that finally breaks away from the typical "zombie shooter" games. I'm not the type to own 5 games and then rave about 'em. On the other hand, I barely have time to play all of my 30+ PC games I own, and that's not counting the games I have for 360, PS2, the Wii, my DS...
Simple games CAN be fun too, you know. Take Indie games for example. Ask anyone who isn't bat shit crazy about Angry Birds.

@mMJTx : You press the red button [XBox 360] to have an idea of where to go, but it won't tell you exactly HOW to get there. You have to figure that out on your own.
And of course, lots of practice. Muscle memory is the whole point of the game. This game was not meant for those noobs who like being spoon-fed with hints or waypoints to guide their hand [xXxcoughxXxBlackOpsxXxcoughxXx].

@exlHD : I have to say it's one of a kind. This game is not meant to be a shooter, since it barely plays like one. If this game wasn't so under budgeted, overlooked, and so rushed, it would've been a great game. If you plan on getting it, I say buy it for as cheap as you can get it or rent it.
This game's story is solid enough to hold ground, and the graphics are certainly pretty. But the voice acting and the cutscenes could've been better; they remind me of eSurance commercials here XD

NO this isn't good gameplay! Not for me, You made everything so booring :S Like in 4:55 you just ran the booring way and didn't even jump up through the hatch without failing :S ok maby i am to hard but i pwn the cops asses in a dreamway when i am in that part.

I don't even bother touching the guards. They take too much time and effort. I only fight them when it's necessary.

@soma1509 Allright, maybe you are good at playing tactical but in that case i hope you are playing on hard (if that is possible on xbox because i never got the option to play on hard even when i play trough the game on medium :(.
But i like to make crazy stunts on the guards and make my gameplay look like i'm in matrix XD

@nilsodor : Well, this was a fresh reinstall on my PC, so at the time I could only play on Normal. On hard all that changes is that the red color goes away except on enemies and the doors , and maybe the AI is a little smarter.
But otherwise I can almost easily get away without hurting any of the guards, except probably at the shard, since it almost isn't a choice.

@narwhalfreedomforce : Someone's butthurt over a simple comment, which ironically was also criticism. Again, you missed the concept of this being a video game, and this simply being a comment response.
The game is great, it's creative, and to have such a unique fighting engine, it still clobbers anything that Activision can pull out of their ass. As if their "Gun Game" [pun intended] was so original.
