As you grow you become accustomed to speaking a certain language so when you try to learn a new syntax of languages with different rules, grammars, etc.. it becomes difficult. It's the reason older immigrants have such heavy accents and why learning languages when you're older is 'harder'(harder not impossible as some might claim.)
