  • Video Game money buys a lot of LSD.

  • this dude is too awesome

  • actually he grew up in texas. his nickname's Lord British because when he went to programming camp and was playing dnd with his buddies as a kid, they called him that because of his accent if I remember correctly. Ultima ftw

  • @Destroyer4454 Actually. He used to greet people with the word "Hello" instead of "Hi" alot. and that is one of the reasons they called him British. This was on the tape interview you could get with Ultima 6 if you ordered the Autogrphed version from Origin.

  • He collects a lot of weird stuff. His house is awesome though.

  • Tabula Rasa was a great idea for a game, something I had been looking forward to...I never got a chance to play. I hope he is still interested in making games.

  • Just watch the damn video lol, he explains why it's Lord British.

  • Hi, does all motherboard fit in any case? I have an Xion case

  • well Richard second life as plenty of people tunning out or real life .. dam crazzy people on there .carrie on as if its real life ... makes me laugh

  • TR failed , please make another MMO.

  • Richard garriott is for teh wins :o

  • Why is he called lord British he doesn't sound very british or lordy

  • Because he says Hello, instead of Hi !

  • He was born in England and some students thought he spoke in an accent so they called him British.

  • Maybe because he grew up in Texas, and his proper method of speaking sounded British to them or something...

  • why all his games are around the dark side? just strange

  • Hell I hoped to see his castle in England, damn ...

  • i wonder if he did ultima underworld i played that as a kid and i thought it kicked ass

  • Never did get to play Ultima. Was that series shiite?

  • yeah but at its time it was crysis.

  • Ultima's one of the best RPG series of all time (except the last one.)

  • dont recognise any of these games. my brother had the first atari system that was made of wood and the games cartridges he had that i liked was asteriods. when he upgraded to the spectrum 48k i only liked jet set willy cuz of the catchy tune and run the gauntlet i found exciting. wen he had the amiga he was constantly programming on it so i never tried any of its games

  • oh Tabula Rasa, no wonder his name sounded familiar

  • yes this was a great video i really enjoyed watching this video it made me laugh and i really have to say it was very intertaining

  • gotta get me some o' that pheris fluid now!!

  • ferrous fluid ;)

  • ahhhhhh.....I wondered hot to spell that. thx ^__^

  • hey no prob ;)

  • btw the way have you seen the other vid on u-tub? If you search ferrofluid you see awesome art-works!! maybe i make some myself later I found a site already :D

  • iron in liquid medium+magnetism sure is a nice piece of art. i got interested in it once and even made a electromagnetic torque generator design from it.

  • cool :D have a vid laying around somewhere?

  • well, i could send you some pictures of it.

  • Richard Garriott a gaming guru ? hell his tabula rasa failed epicly, he even put his name in the game's name.Ok he made ultima so what ? there are much better games out there now, get over it

  • u=tard

  • What do you mean "Tabula rasa failed epicly" Just because you're so closed minded and dont like one game doesent mean it failed. Get over yourself.

  • *sigh* You do know Ultima Online is over a decade old now? Do you think Doom, or Pac-Man, or fuck even Pong weren't important for the business because their graphics no longer compare to the modern?

Besides that, he pioneered many of the elements that still prevail in games today before GUI... jackass...

  • Just because there are better games now doesnt belittle what Richard Garriot did. You do realise his Ultima Online is considered to be one of the first MMORPG?

  • Actually it wasn't the first. It was Island of Kesmai back in 1985 (for $12 per hour of gamplay =/), or if you want to be a completely technical it started with Mazewar which was played by MIT engineers through ARPnet.

UO was just the first massively popular and commercially successful game. Then companies started to see how MMOs can be a huge cash-cow, so EQ and AC and DAoC and a few others came out, then hundreds, and now thousands of them. UO just started the revolution. =P

  • One of my fondest memories in gaming was the brief time Richard Garriott actually played his MMO as Lord British. I only seen him once but still cool that he was doing that, helping the game to succeed like that. Other than that, Halo 3 is the only time I've seen developers playing their own game with the public openly (and then again they didn't build their company up out of the back of their car and eventually go into fucking outer space either).

  • I'd argue that there are few games out there now in the same genre of the Ultima games that are 'better'. Newer, yes. Graphically better, yes.

  • Nerd + Money = This guy

  • Yeah, but that is so awesome.

  • hero = this guy

  • Money doesn't buy happiness, you know.

  • but it sure does buy alot of cool shit

  • trust me ot does.....

  • Nerd+ Money= A guy with great wads of cash who spends it on really cool stuff and staging battles between aliens and Humans...which is simply awesome. Do you think He'd adopt me?

  • he has the most sickest house...

it was featured on the travel channel

its full of secret compartments and hidden doors. with some very unique stuff.

    very medieval-ish

  • haha Nerd + Money = hero I guess?

  • He'a N wesome guy, loved Ultima and UO.

  • Tabula Rasa was terrible.

But Lord British is a god in gaming.

Even the assasination of his UO character was a monumental event in gaming.

  • it's shutting down at the end of the month anyway lol

  • Until Rainz.
